Elizabeth and I moved into this ranch style home on Monday. I'm excited about my library to be. I've got some ideas of what I want to do, I'll post when that happens. We got to enjoy a pretty amazing view of the full moon this week. And of coarse our dog Maggie is enjoying the big backyard.

I bought Moving Pictures back in my sophomore year of high school; that's the Rush sound that I love along with Counterparts, Test for Echo, Signals, Roll the Bones, and Permanent Waves (I've got them all). I was soooooo looking forward to Clockwork Angels, finally picked it up two weeks ago .... and I don't like it at all. Their sound is missing, and I just hate the way they start off most every track with that orchestral noise, or whatever it is, the lead-ins that just build up ... there's no clean drummiing or keyboards or guitar to just kick a song into gear (like Limelight, Tom Sawyer, etc.). I think Caravan is the worst, and being the lead-off single it sets the tone for the rest. Horrible! Had no idea there was a book to go with the album either, would like to hear anybody's impression of it. Hey, I hear that Tom Scholz is bringing out a new Boston album next year, hopefully it won't suck as truly awfully as their last one (Corporate America) ... that was the worst. Can't believe that was 10 years ago!

Became a Rush fan with 2112. Since then, every album has had to "grow" on me. When I got Clockwork Angels, I liked half of it right from the start and wasn't sure on the rest. Having seen Rush on every tour since 83, I felt I was obligated to see the Clockwork tour. It turned out to be the best show I have seen by them. After that, Clockwork is one of my favorites by them, I get the album now. It was made to play live:)

I grew up in Toronto in the 70's, Rush was pretty close to a religon there. The last tour I saw was in 1981, so I have missed A LOT :) I'm gonna have to get out to a show ASAP. It will never be the same as seeing them at the old Massey Hall (All The World's A Stage), but I'm not 14 anymore either ;)

Next on my mass-market PB wishlist are THE STAND (original), THE DEAD ZONE and FIRESTARTER.

FIRESTARTER will be your biggest challenge. First printings are scarce compared to other paperbacks. Supposedly the only first printings went into the combo gift packs that included a later printing of THE DEAD ZONE. The copies that were sold separately were later printings. I'm not absolutely certain of that but that is what we collectors have accepted as truth for many years.

I took it as a compliment. Some members know quite a bit more than I do about some of the more recent books and appearances. I've been around King collecting for a long time and have picked up a lot of knowledge (and esoterica) about the earlier stuff. Hopefully we all share what we know and all come out ahead. I know that I would have missed out on many of the recent S/Ls, esp. the UK ones, if I hadn't been checking in here frequently.

By the way, that's three Pulitzer-winning and two Pulitzer-nominated books, all in a row, left to right :) Only the last two escaped that fate :(

http://www.thedarktower.org/gallery/data/742/medium/PICT4851.JPG

For this pre. bookpresentation was no big promotion.
It took place in a small bookstore,it did not need long to wait for a inscribed signature.
For an small drawing was not enough time:doh:

Today, at the official premiere event, at Kampnagelfabrik, an former machine factory, build 1865 it
was not so easy to become ONE signed book.
500-1000 in the waiting line for a signatur.
Although the event was streamed it was sold out.

I have no idea. I think yours is the newer state, and the older (first?) one was something like an 'uncorrected advanced manuscript proof' or something arcane like that. That was the version that was handed out at a convention. I haven't really paid attention... (but I'm going to monitor eBay closely from now on).

686 pages. On the back it indicates the actual hardback as 706 pages.

I just noticed the back of mine shows it to be 384 pages! Some difference. I believe yours is more realistic.

Mark took around 2 weeks to do my remarque once he received the book. He was out of town for a few days, which is why he said it took a little longer than usual. Tack on a few days for the return trip and I think the whole thing from start to finish was around 3 weeks. He was great to work with.

Man, I just posted the newest addition to my DMG collection yesterday, and there are already two more DMG books posted that I'll probably never have (or they'll be among the last ones I add, probably in thirty years or so). I think the only recovery I can make is to brag that I bought 6 Desperation gift editions on Abebooks for $1.07 each (the first two have already arrived, so I know they weren't just listed wrong).

Yeah, obviously ... I mean no one would ever rewrap a book, right? And there's no way it could have interior damage from the publisher, or even a missing signature! I thknk unless I was the original buyer and had receipts to show it, I'd open it. I know I wouldn't buy a sealed one. JMO.

I got this over the weekend. It has a rather interesting provenance. This is a manuscript that was sent from Ralph M. Vincinanza's office (King's agent at the time. He passed away suddenly in 2010.) to a Dutch publisher. The publisher donated it to a Dutch Stephen King fan group which sold it. The eventual owner then sold it to me.

Just received the news that my review of 11.22.63 has been chosen to appear in the back of the UK paperback edition of The Wind Through The Keyhole, to be published on the 28th February, 2013! :)
