Is one the 1-200 and the other 1-700 or are they both the 1-200 editions?
I just wished they had of done something special or something just to tell them apart.
They are beautiful looking.

Thanks guys! Both are 1-200 S/L and I already sold one to TDT Member sentinel. As for the Regulators, got it from Simon (sgc1999). It's a PC copy with check made out to Roland Lebay for "Body Work"!

That is pretty cool how the S/L Orange Foil reflects off of the book shelf!

It's a first edition, first printing. I'm sure there are fewer than 50 copies that were signed, maybe even fewer than 30.

I had quite a good day yesterday-two items I have been searching for a long time came in the mail-Ubris Spring 1969 and Ubris Fall 1969. The Fall version was like brand new-amazing shape. The spring was also ok.
I also received a UK Signed Limited one of 200 made, a 11/22/63 signed by King and a Full Dark No Stars remarqued by Jill Bauman.
Quite nice to come home to those.
They ALL came from people here on the DT Net.
Also the comic from Bob is in VERY VERY great shape.
Thanks to ALL!!

That is the original that I bought from the artist. I think that there was a limited edition of prints done long ago. I initially contacted Steve Gervais many years ago asking if he had prints available but (IIRC) they were all sold and out of print.

Bob's original artwork is beautiful.

Here's a photo of an original unfolded dustjacket (along with some others). I keep them in the shipping tube.

- CHRISTINE - I didn't buy the actual S/L until years later,
- WIZARD AND GLASS - two S/L djs - one for each volume, only Volume One showing,
- THE GUNSLINGER - 3rd edition

It is somewhat ironic that I initially made contact with the artist in 1998 or 1999 trying to buy some limited edition prints that I had seen on eBay. I ended up (one piece at a time) buying all of the CHRISTINE artwork from the Grant limited edition, even tracking down pieces that had already been sold or given away.

As I told another forum member in a PM a short while ago, I was fortunate that the wraparound dust jacket art was still available. Steve said that Adrienne Barbeau liked that particular piece very much and committed to buy it around the time that her husband, John Carpenter, was filming the movie. For whatever reason she never got around to actually buying it and it was still available. Lucky for me.

Brice

Yes, that is fantastic luck I'd say. I just love that cover art.

If it's a question that shouldn't be asked; just don't answer...and I'm sorry for it...but how much did pieces like this and The Gunslinger paintings cost back then?

1st edition gunslinger with great signature and comments on it. Too much for me though.

Great store.

It's still there in the case.

Thank you! I only have a cheap book club edition apparently, and it only has title pages for the novels without the covers. Strange.

These should probably be added to our catalog here (http://www.thedarktower.org/palaver/showwiki.php?title=Stephen+King+First+Editions:Bac hman+Books+The+-+Trade+HC).

I lived at 37th and Broadway for 2 years before recently moving to NW Arkansas. Went to THE STRAND every Saturday morning for 2 years. That inscribed 'Slinger has been there for A LONG TIME.

It is inscribed "To Jim, Welcome to the Wild, Wild West....."

Just got back from a local used book store and purchased ALL of the below for under 100! The most expense item was the Gunslinger SL Audio # 713 for $20!. Im pretty happy with the prices but to be honest a lot of this stuff I would not normally collect - audio cassettes, mag pull outs and Joe Hill proofs arent usually something I look for but I thought What the Hell since the price was right...

Gunslinger Audio Cassettes S/L #713 No damages looks new
Wastelands Audio Casssettes read by Stephen King in original shrinkwrap
Geralds Game audio cassettes in original shrinkwrap
Mist in 3-D sound "the compact disc nightmare edition" and says "first edition" on the back cover tho I have no idea what thats supposed to mean...
The Raft and The Monkey pull outs from Gallery mag Very Nice condition
Geralds Game ARC in cardboard box with letter and facsimile sig Very Good
Horns uncorrected proof says "early uncopyedited bound manuscript" on rear cover - looks unread
Masques IV S/L # 200
After the Darkness S/L #400
Obsessions S/L #406

Feels like Christmas...

I dont think its really a manuscript. It says that on the rear cover but looks like a regular proof. I dont collect Joe Hill so not really sure what it is but I compared it to a couple of ARCs and the cover is slightly different. Heres pics of front and back ("early uncopyedited bound manuscript" is at the very top of the rear cover)

Thanks John. Its not every day (in fact seems like NEVER) that you can find a good deal. The occasional good deal, and finding an item you've been wanting forever (even if it is expensive) really makes this hobby fun. For Brice here's the Gunslinger audio

No way they knew it was signed. They're so weird over there. They sell this for $20 but have an Insomnia GIFT edition (unsigned) priced at 150. Its a hit and miss over there and I think several people are doing the pricing - none of which are researching...

Dont know what to think : i lost an ebay auction, and i now recieved a "2nd chance offer".
Why? The seller said "Hello there! It just so happens i have 2 xxxxxx! it is identical in every way to the one i sold. if u would like it let me know. we will do this legit thru ebay."

It seems legit to me : new "offer", and the seller has over 900 feedbacks, 100% positive.
I guess i'll buy it... it's quite convenient for him to do that...

It was a longer+harder journey until I have found it.

Aw, c'mon. Half of 21.99? They nailed it.

Seriously, it was a little weird. I haven't been there in ages, but I had this box of books in the trunk which had never gotten to the library and everyone kept telling me HPB will buy them. So on my way to B&N to get the Esquire issue, I went to HBP and hauled them in. While the guy was figuring out their value, I went to look at the Kings, and the Martins were on the next shelf. I wasn't even looking for GRRM. When I checked the number line, well. Surprise. Then the guy called my name - said 11.75 for the books and, now the weird part, seeing that Martin I was going to buy asked ME if it was a first. Duh. I just mumbled something and checked out asap.

Picked this up yesterday:

http://img163.imageshack.us/img163/5064/danea.jpg (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/163/danea.jpg/)

It is a S/L edition of Danse Macabre (fine book and slipcase), but since it does not actually have the signature page, frontispiece photo, or glassine wrapper, that must make it one of the 35 publisher's copies described here (http://www.thedarktower.org/palaver/showwiki.php?title=Danse+Macabre+-+S+L). What is confusing, is that it came with a slipcase, but according to the link, it was not supposed to. Thoughts?

Jimimck
06-01-2012, 09:13 PM
I think that link, and this one to The Collector site (http://www.stephenkingcollector.com/limited/danse.html) state that the 35 unsigned copies did come with a slipcase...

Pretty cool pick up.

tippy4

The link to this site says "...... but lacking King's signature, frontispiece photo. glassine wrap and slipcase."

I assume the PERIOD after "photo" should actually be a COMMA since the first letter of the following word is not capitalized.

Thank's for the link to stephenkingcollector.com....I don't know why I did not check there myself.

Based on the fact that mine has a slipcase, and stephenkingcollector says it should have a slipcase, I think the entry on this site may be incorrect.

I paid $350....so based on Tomas' estimated value of $400 to $600, I got a good price....especially since the condition of the book would put it toward the higher end of the spectrum.

Betts have had this on sale for years at $350 without any takers, so I guess the price is right.

I have one of those without slipcase. I got it off eBay for $50 and I'm pretty sure it was actually you (Tippy) who made me aware of the auction - didn't you ask about the red text block and the 'First Edition' statement on the copyright page (which was mentioned by the seller and which is not present in the trade edition)?

Anyway, I was the only bidder then I think and I'm very happy with it (although I would have liked a slipcase to go with it).

I've gotten so many deals at Half Price Books it's not even funny. I would come across very scare 1st editions when I lived in Columbus. Now, living in Delaware, I have to wait to go on vacation to find such gems. Sometimes they actually realize they have something good and put it in a glass case. I found my first 'Salems Lot there and got it for $300 and it looked almost never read and extremely clean.

Well, as I mentioned a couple of posts back my copy lacks the slipcase. But I guess it's easier to lose a slipcase along the way than to somehow get hold of one. My guess is that the unsigned copies did come with a slipcase.
