I needed to upgrade a couple of Grant dust jackets (Ffellowes and Marcia), so I also went ahead and ordered "The Three Palladins" from 1977. I just think it's really cool that I can buy a book that's as old as I am, direct from the publisher, and at cover price ($12). I hightly recommend browsing around on the Grant site:

Someone over at stephenkingcollector.com mentioned that he would be selling his Granddad's collection. This was a couple of months ago. Several people expressed their interest without knowing what would be for sale. We (or at least I) did not hear anything about it again until last week, when we received an email with an inventory of this collection. Unfortunately for me, the email was sent out when it was in the middle of the night here, so I missed out on the two items I wanted most.

I have no idea what's left of the collection because everything was handled by email.

Michael-

I've been trying to get "Alex" to consign this collection since last fall. I'm pretty sure Alex is a chick not a dude. Kept getting put off as she is a student ant it would "take quite awhile to inventory" everything. I got the same email and have been back and forth a couple times about items. She is taking offers then says she will have to research those offers to see if they are worth it before she sells an item...Too much work for me. She has some nice items, but I do not think I can go back and forth numerous times inthe "hopes" of landing an item. My two cents.

Fsmdr
02-18-2012, 07:40 PM
I am guessing the seller is not a collector either....based on the inventory list that was sent out. It is even hard at times to determine edition of a particular tittle, with very basic info on condition. He/she sent me a few pictures of the item in question and I based the condition on those pictures and purchased with my fingers crossed ( My highest dollar amount book was around $200, most other low $ amount books ). Overall, I am quite happy with the books that arrived.

Yes, if I had been the seller, I would have consigned with Betts.

I agree, it could have been MUCH easier for both the seller and the buyers if things would have been consigned through Betts.

We were only supposed to get one book signed, and I had picked Gunslinger, but while he was signing I slid the copy of Wastelands over to him to show him the remarque Dameron did. In auto pilot mode he started to sign it, then noticed the remarque and said "Wow, that's pretty cute!". Then he grabbed my silver ink pen and doodled the following along with his signature:

Well...now it's official!

I GOT MY TICKETS FOR SAN DIEGO COMIC CON 2012!!! I've just received confirmation!

I'll be flying on July 10th and spend only 5-6 days there, but I'll be attending the largest and best event in the field for the first time! :) :) :)

I went every year from 1987 (at least thats the earliest drawing I can find) to 2006 just before I moved to New Mexico. I will go again someday. It is currently at least 10 times (and probably closer to 20 times) the size now that it was in 1987, wear some VERY comfortable shoes and give yourself at least 2 days just to see the sales floor, more if you plan to catch some panels.

I got this for a few £ - a nice little book! First edition, not priceclipped, in NF condition (no damage, just a bit of tanning). Once I get the chance to take a pic I'll post it in my collection thread.

Nice! Can you get a concealed weapons permit in your neck of the woods?

Smith & Wesson .38 revolver. Nice, powerful, and won't jam.

Already have one...I carry a Ruger LCP though. In Maine, a DD 214 will get you out of the mandatory concealed carry class.

Those are great; have wanted to pick up one of Erin's IT originals, just don't have the funds. Really like "The Fire".
