Those are fantastic "e"! i really like the Alan M. Clark piece and think this may be the coolest thing I've seen from him. Congrats.

Heres a bit more of the detail on the Clark painting:

Thanks Bob - I wanted the frames/matting to match as they hang side by side. It really goes better with the McVey piece, but it goes well enough with the Clark piece that I'm happy.

Thanks for the close-ups man! There is certainly something about this piece that I really like. I like how there seems to be a reflective nature to the face with the varying colors and shading.

P.S. I feel silly saying "varying colors and shading" because I don't know jack about artwork :)

My newest pride and joy is a 3rd printing of The Gunslinger from Grant. I won't bore anyone with pictures but I was very excited about this. This is my first Grant Gunslinger and even though it's a 3rd I'm extremely happy.

Ben: Nice one of grabbing a Grant Gunslinger. They are all cool. I picked up a 3rd after getting my 2nd.

Twisted: Well done on grabbing that Shotgun edition,. I was PO'd I missed out grabbing it from Betts, and so was even more pissed when I missed out for a second time lol! I think the story behind it is worth the damage...

Not really a 'pride and joy,' but I read a review copy of Christopher Buehlman's upcoming horror/suspense book that's gotten some advance notice, "Those Across the River."

I liked it okay. Here's my Amazon review, which links to the product page for anyone interested (and vote on my review if you thought it was 'helpful' Haha):

I must say that I prefer the production values on the US version, rather than the UK one.

First Edition / First Impression Mile 81

http://www.thedarktower.org/gallery/data/563/Mile_81.jpg

These were given out by the publishers to those not resident in the United States, to make up for the farcical way they handled the distribution of the ebook.

There will be a 750 Limited Edition out next week, but the 26 copy Lettered Edition will not be out until next year, as we are waiting on the slipcases.

Just wanted to posta couple things i just received today !!
1) Got my tickets tothe George Mason event, including my 2 tickets to the signing line !!!!
2) Also just opened my newest book, a copy of, The New Lieutenant's Rap ! This is ne book i thought I would never have due to its price and that you rarely see them for sale. Its not a King signed and numbered version or one f the Alpert proof copies. Its just an extra copy as it was explained to me. If anyone has some input as to the value or general info on this version I would be very interested. Also considering taking this to be signed at the Event, what would that do for the value? Don't plan to sell it but just curious.

Got some really cool Haven prop in the mail today. One was a Haven Police Department (HPD) hat used in the series and the second was the boat that you can see in the beginning of episode 1 (Tale of Two Audrey’s) season 2. These are the actual boats that were used in that scene.

http://www.liljas-library.com/img/other/haven_prop1.jpg

They used two boats while shooting the scene -- when one got too wet, they switched to the other one while someone used a hair dryer on the wet one.

Arrivals today from my favorite bookseller in Maine. I finally added another Ubris to my collection - still missing two others tho. One of the Onans is inscribed by Burt Hatlen. In fact all of these came from Burt Hatlen's library. I now have extra copies of Contraband 1, Moth and Onan but Biomieg has staked a claim on the Contraband 1 and unsigned Onan. This extra copy of Moth is for sale - PM if interested (And I will post in classified too). I really love the pre-carrie stuff but can be so hard to find!

That illustration/drawing of the face next to Strawberry Spring, is that an illustration to the actual story? If so, what's the name of the artist, and are the other stories in Ubris illustrated? My scans of these Ubris tales don't have any illustrations.

Theres a lot of illustrations in the issue. The drawing opposite King's story is called "Self-Portrait - Edward O. Perry" and is not an illustration of the King story. I dont think any of the pictures are illustrations of the poems or stories - just a compilation of random art, poems and stories. I have the entire issue as a PDF on my computer (including the pics). PM me if you want a copy. You can also get photocopies from the Fogler Library

Ari, nice stuff, what's in the 'Salem's Lot box?

It's a box containing the pocket edition of the book with the new intro by King. Doesn't seem to be official, but it looks cool and it only costed me 3 bucks (box + book).

This is an interesting item. You don't believe it is official, huh? Did someone just make it then? Does the inside look custom fitted to the paperback? Would it be possible for you to take a few more pics? Sorry to bother you about this, but it is an unusual item.

I'm proud to report that I just bought the signed limited DT: Complete Concordance for $22.50. Note to eBay sellers: Sunday morning is a really bad time to end an auction.
Got my book today, #1419. I must say that I am really surprised at how big this book is, and I am thinking I should nab the IT Collector's Edition while I still can.

The ONLY difference is that in the space to designate what copy the book is, there is either a number or a letter(s).
When in doubt-refer to the Catalog listing. It says in part "52 Lettered and 1,250 numbered copies produced. Other than letters on limitation page, numbered copies were identical."

Love it, John! Are the illustrations in there as well?

This was regarding the CD 25th Anniversary Edition proof of It. I was mistaken. This proof does include most, if not all, the pictures. I took a closer look at it today and discovered them. All are in black-and-white, of course. Since I don't know just how many pictures will be in the final volume, I don't know if all are there or not.

There's 29 prints in the portfolio. Including the cover and the 2 different pieces of artwork for the sig sheets. So that makes 26 pieces in the book, and I'm pretty sure we used all of the art from the book in the portfolio.

Folded and Gathered are pre-production materials, and there's typically only one ever made for a book. An unbound text block, is just basically the insides of the final production without the outside binding. Sometimes they're glued, sometimes not. Or at least that has always been my understanding of the two.

Dear Me. A letter to my sixteen-year-old-self is a collection of letters written by famous people (King, Hugh Jackman, Alan Rickman, James Woods and many more), imaginary sent to themselves when they were only sixteen. Book is edited by Joseph Galliano and has a foreword by J.K.Rowling. It'll be published next october 25th by Atria Books

Four copies of (what I hope is) the final proof of my book. I've already approved it, but I'm going to take another look through. It takes a week for the listing to appear on amazon, and a month or so to appear in catalogs that book stores and libraries use. I'm really curious to see if any store or library would buy one or more copied blindly (I assume not). My sales goal: 10 copies to people I've never met. I've learned that I really don't have much desire to write queries or proposals, or deal with rejections from agents, so I'm going to go right on and keep my day job:

So, my book is now available in Paperback on Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/Annie-McGwire-Time-Flyer-Ziniti/dp/1463774915/).

I've had a lot of fun with this little hobby of mine, so I'm going to keep it going. I am going to publish a hardcover signed/limited edition as well that I'll use as Christmas gifts or something. This edition will feature a dust jacket with new paper-cutting art by me, foil-stamped title on the book's spine, and will be limited to 10 copies (no more than 5 of which will be sold). I thought of doing a slipcase, but they're just too darned expensive. The price is $30 (includes shipping; limit one per customer, please), and the books should be ready in a month or so. If you're interested, let me know.

Interestingly, this is numbered with a number that indicates many more than 70 (which Lilja posted) were published. Because H&S has indicated they will take measures against people selling these before the release of the book, I'm not disclosing the number.

Also, each page of this proof is overprinted with a statement "Embargoed Hodder & Stoughton". I've never seen this before.

I'm a little more than half through my US proof. I'm having trouble "connecting" with the story and I'm not sure why. I've never really had that happen with any of King's other works.

Got my 1st edition of The Shining signed:

I was outside the reception room speaking with a coordinator and King walked out of the room. He signed a baseball, and something else. The only thing I had in my hands was a drink ticket, which he signed:

Can anyone explain the numbering on the new UK proof of 11/22/63?

jhanic
09-28-2011, 10:44 AM
As I stated in the thread of SK Proofs, it appears there are two states of the UK proof of 11/22/63. Both have different numbering systems. Now, I don't know why H&S went with two numbering schemes, but I'm sure both were initiated so that they would know who was selling the proof. After publication of the book, maybe then someone will come out with the answer.

Johnny, I saw those on eBay and thought them a bit strange ... Interesting, but strange. They look like they were extra unfolded covers from the publisher, you know? Is there something that leads you to believe they were the "proof"/example covers? Like, I have a feeling down deep in my gut that in the future we will be seeing multiples of those covers that you just purchased.

jhanic
09-30-2011, 05:53 PM
I think you're accurate in that they are unfolded extras that were somehow obtained from the publishers. I was wrong in terming them "proof" covers. As to seeing more, who knows? I remember something similar with the Desperation and Regulators covers where the seller had a whole bunch of them. These are kind of neat, though. I didn't pay too much for them, so I'm happy.

They were done after publication and not by PS Publishing. A book dealer in the UK (Steve Sargent) apparently commissioned each of the artists to do 26 drawings. Steve then marketed them himself (primarily on eBay as "calligraphic_collectables"). He also sold them on his own website. I think they are neat and I have a set in my collection. But, IMO, they are not true lettered editions. Nice, though.

Guys, I apologize I was in no way trying to cast aspersions on anyone. And Ralph you never purported to be selling me a "Letter" at anytime. If it sounded that way again my apologies it was not my intent. I guess I just saw it on Tom's site listed as "Letter M" and well........I know "When you assume yadda, yadda.

I guess I was just surprised and confused in the moment. Please, again my apologies I meant no one any disrespect!!!!

FWIW Tom does not seem to have a scan of that remarque. Bet he would be happy to get one for his site.

Two books signed at the VA event, The Drawing of the Three (signed by the artist) was purchased from David at Betts before the Mason Awards as my 2nd choice since I couldn't find a copy of The Shining to take.

The lettering on the skcollector site for the Ed Miller Colorado Kid remarques is off. Ed Miller did more remarques than was asked of him and they weren't lettered at the time. So, if someone wanted letter "P" of Chadbourne and Potter, he was able to choose which Miller he wanted and it would have been lettered afterwards. :)

Yeah, I got that, but even though Miller did 36 Its still kinda confusing. Especially with what Tom posted!!! Obviously, he was "off", but he does a damn good job of re-creating the past!!!
