He signed some books. The German Publisher ´forget´ to make bigger promo. Only a few people come to
the 3 signing events to, at this time unknown Joe Hill. ONE of the signed mini Heart doodled books is new.

Not the most collectable copy (no slipcase, spotting on the front cover, and water damage to the back + the last couple of pages) but I'm glad I got it: #102/200.

It's a British large print hardcover. There's also one with the story 'The Breathing Method'. Both are pretty scarce and I think most (if not all) of them went to libraries. This is an ex-library copy too, hence the damage (caused by sticker removal of some kind).

Actually that one was published in the US. It is published by Thorndike Press in Maine. It is pretty scarce.

The one with The Breathing Method by Chivers Press was published in the UK.

The thing with Chadbourne is that his full-page illustrations, crammed with detail (like in the SOD volumes) can be a bit exhausting to 'digest'. But I really like his style and in my opinion it often 'shines' when he's doing drawings like these, on a neutral background.

There was nothing to measure the value against (or potential value of this and I'm guessing it's most unlikely one will come up for sale any time soon) so I haven't a clue whether it was expensive or inexpensive. I paid over $350 for it but I'm happy with the price so that makes it a decent buy as far as I'm concerned.

Delivered to the Tower of London by members of the Parachute Regiment in full combat gear - smoke grenades, rifles and all - on the eve of Worldwide publication

I wrote to the Prime Minister, David Cameron, and his deputy, Nick Clegg to register my disgust at this outragous waste of the Defense Budget, at this time of severe cuts. This happened at the same time as they were ripping the wings off our Nimrod aircraft.

They phoned me back, saying that if I kept my mouth shut, I would get a Knighthood.

Too late though, as The News of the World had hacked my phone and the story is now in this Sunday's paper. The Defense Secretary will now have to resign.

Pity. I was looking forward to you all addressing me as, Lord Rabbit of Trickington.

Seriously, this is a great presentation.

Do you have bigger pictures? We cannot click on them to see them bigger

I'm not very good with this technology stuff so don't know how to do this...here is a link though of the video of the delivery of the books...it's worth a look. (If you are genuinely interested I'll email the pics. to you if you let me have your email address).

Holy sh*t... for real? No kidding?!?! If it's not too personal, dare I ask how much that set you back? That is one hell of a presentation and delivery method. Congrats on the acquisition!

That's not too bad for a 1 of 4 book with that high of a production value! Again, congrats!

One of my favorite series of all time is The Dragonriders of Pern by Anne McCaffrey. The first book, Dragonflight, was published in 1968. In 1998, a 30th anniversary edition was released. I just got my own copy that was signed by the author during a special event held during the week of release. I'm not sure if all of these copies were signed, but I'm glad mine is:

I took it down to the frame shop, and the guy gave me some options.

He suggested the turquoise mat, because there is some turquoise in the print (in the arms and hands).

I had it framed at Michael's (a craft store chain), and it was $250 (and that was during their 60% off sale. I probably could have gotten it done cheaper elsewhere, but Michael's is close to my home, and the guy who worked on it has done framing for me in the past (my S/L Letter From Hell).

About the auction... no actually... i couldnt get it. The seller told me that they would put it back in auction... but i guess that they are waiting, and hopefully get more. That's a shame, it was goddam cheap! :-(

About a german translation : well... I wouldnt see any problem if a publisher contacts me to buy the rights to publish it in german.

Many years ago I had just gotten my first copy of THE PLANT (Part 1) in those funky green wrappers from Stu at Betts. I was really excited. For whatever reason I decided to smell it and stuck it up close to my face to get a good whiff. As I pulled it away I noticed that it had touched my nose and a small smudge of oil from my skin was now creating a small dark spot right in the middle of the front cover. I couldn't believe I had actually done that. My stomach started churning. Had I ruined it? Fortunately over the next several minutes (hours?) it dried and did not leave any residual darkening. Whew, that was a close one! Now, in addition to washing my hands, I am tempted to wash my face before handling any prized book. Heck, maybe I should just take a shower instead.

Just read this on liljas site :

"I guess most of you remember that there is a lettered edition of my book on the way. Well, here is a taste of it.
This isn’t the finished version but something called “no tips” and what that is, is a lettered edition of the book without the signature page.
These “no tips” where used in a Grab Bag that Cemetery Dance sold and there where less than 12 done."

There are a couple of parts that are not from the website, but exclusive for the book (Black House & From a Buick 8 scripts review and projects, for example).

I've been waiting for these two for a while... One of them constitute an addition to my Paolo Bacigalupi (http://www.thedarktower.org/palaver/showthread.php?11737-Book-Collection-thegreattim&p=582194&viewfull=1#post582194) collection (love me some Paolo!) and the other is a sister-book set in the same world. Paolo and Tobias Buckell jointly created the shared world and then each wrote a story in it. I was especially pleased to nab these as Paolo's contribution sold out in 2.5 hrs (in its limited state).

The leatherbound S/L's, matching number #51.

It's here! The gamble was most definitely worth it. Not sure if anyone remembers but I bought this last week and was going to pick it up in person. What happened was my passport expired ON the day of the auction and I had no other choice but to have it shipped. I bought this without seeing a single picture. All I had was the conversation with the seller and he seemed honest enough so I gave it a go. Also scored a S/L of The Eyes Of The Dragon but I listed that on eBay right away because of minor imperfections. Anyways, here are two pictures. The books feels unread.

http://img42.imageshack.us/img42/7858/hair034.jpg

And the case:

Another one from my list of 2011 collecting goals:

http://img52.imageshack.us/img52/6153/hair031.jpg

I've also scored a DT VII S/L and Night Visions V S/L which I'm too lazy to photograph.

Few more S/Ls (From a Buick 8, DT V + VI, Legacies, FDNS) on the way.

I've made lots of new acquisitions lately...trying to decide what to keep and what to sell at Betts (ALWAYS a fine line to walk there, but 90% of the time it gets put up at Betts).

I got great deals on a matched set of Secretary of Dreams S/L (vol 1 and 2, both #61), A Salem's Lot Gift Edition in aftermarket traycase (impossible to find these days), a signed Shining (alas not a 1st but a very early edition), Lettered Green Mile with original artwork that I actually like (most I did not), several copies of signed FDNS among others.

If I can buy it from you e-mail me and let me know the price.
The reason I asked about the lettered one is because someone on ebay had one pictured for sale and then you get half down the page and find out it isn't the one pictured that is for sale but one of the $75.00 books 1 of 750. I went back and looked at the auction more carefully after seeing your post. Thank you.

I waited and waited for my lettered THE WOLF'S HOUR to show up. Figured it was held up because of the winter weather. Finally e-mailed Subterranean Press. It seems that even though I had ordered and paid at the time of order they had not put me on the lettered list. Just a mistake on their part. They are sending me a PC copy of the lettered edition and $250 credit. I can't ask for more than that. I think that more than makes up for it and I'm happy with their offer. I'm still bummed, though, because I am not getting a "letter."

I haven't had a lot of SK Pride and Joy lately, but I though I'd share my latest non-SK P & J - American Gods by Neil Gaiman. This edition by Hill House has an extra 12,000 words not in the originally published edition. But, since they did not want the reader to damage the book, they issued a separated paperback Reader's Copy with the exact same text, along with some extra material that was not even in their S/L edition. Both books have the same limitation number. All of this won't matter when the 10th Anniversary Edition hits the shelves this summer with the extra text. Still awesome....

I picked this up on eBay the other day on an impulse for a pretty modest price. 10.5" x 14" (not including the matting) pencil sketch of Jill Bauman's painting titled "Wheel Of Fortune" from the Easton Press edition of THE DEAD ZONE. I always liked this painting more so than the others she did for the book. I'm not sure what I will do with it. But I do like it quite a bit.

The wheel has stopped on the number "19." I never really noticed that before. Did King mention the number 19 with any significance in THE DEAD ZONE? It's been so long since I read it that I don't remember at all.

There was no significance of the number 19 until King had his accident in 1999.

It has always bugged me that most people associate the number 19 with The Gunslinger. Nowhere in that book is the number 19 mentioned.
