Exciting news to share!!
I've been holding this close to the vest waiting to get confirmation and yesterday after talking with a previous employee of Doubleday I'm happy to share.
When I started to collect Stephen King editions of value I started to learn about Proofs and arcs. I had collected for a time before that but unaware of the world of Signed Limited Numbered and Lettereds, Proofs, Manuscripts and all the other amazing forms the collecting world had to offer in the Stephen King universe! Proofs and all prepublication items became and still is my favorite focus! While learning about all the points and pertinent info regarding this focus I kept going back to see the picture Bob had shared for the Darktower.org proof section of his Doubleday Proofs. I thought those were the most beautiful Stephen King collectibles I had been exposed to since collecting! This set me off on the goal to get a complete set of the Doubleday Proofs! I was made aware shortly after making this my longterm goal that there was NOT a true Proof of Carrie and the ARC is what I'd be having to accept. One night in 2016 a Galley of Carrie was discovered and I was able to obtain it. The information sheet that was glued to the top which was common for Doubleday Proofs showed a release date of February 8th, 1974, this was later chaged to April. The information sheet also had ORIGINAL PRICE of $6.95 this was chaged to $5.95 for release.
Almost 9 years to the day that I became the owner of the Galley I acquired a "First State" dustjacket for Carrie with the original price of $6.95. I'm incredibly excited and everyother word you can think of to have this to go along with the Galley! The time and help that Bob and a previous employee of Doubleday provided in helping me identify the dustjacket was so very generous and I'm grateful beyondwords! This community has some amazing people in it who selflessly help others and have resources that are nothing short of incredible!
This is not for sale or trade but wanted to share something that I think is pretty special in this hobby! We the public are exposed to such a small amount of what is actually out there and produced during the publishing process and love seeing new discoveries in Stephen King collecting!

I need a Carrie firdt ed jacket for my flat signed one. I have one, but the "D" is missing in the spine of Double Day.
But that looks like an awesome collection of Carrie stuff.

My first second post to the Your New Pride and Joy thread. First up is A Life in the Cinema Artist Presentation edition. I've been looking for a copy of this for awhile and one finally popped up. On a side note, the seller of this hard to find edition shipped it in a bubble envelope. Miraculously, it survived the journey.

My second P&J, I was finally able to add a signed and inscribed Carrie to my collection. This was signed during King's Firestarter tour: LA stop.

I don't know if Alec has his copy posted in his collections thread, but mine is posted somewhere on the 1st page of my collection thread. Hi _PCC_,

It was either a gift to me or I found it on eBay. Anyway, it was neatly packaged but fell between drawers in my old flat. About 10 years ago, I embarked on a thorough SK inventory check before I moved to another flat. Lo and behold, I found this mint Rage that I forgot I owned. Time for another inventory soon -- hoping that everything matches what I have in Excel. BTW, I might be wrong, but I believe these copies of Rage would likely sell for $5-7K. Thanks again for your P&J!

almost my new pride and joy.
For one minute, someone in Germany offered an S/L 11.22.63 for less than 100 euros
he absolutely wanted pay pal friends and then suddenly ended the conversation and the offer for the
11.22.63 and all other items... ..... unfortunately it was probably a scammer.. :-(

What about a plain singed un-dated Carrie with a slight issue to the dust jacket. The "D" is missing

Sorry that you only got $2.2K for your copy, Kris. You still have pictures? No flaws? I ask because eBay sold a VG copy for $3K in February and Antoni recently sold a US set in VG condition on FB for $4.5K. So essentially another $3K Rage in VG condition. I stand by my $5-7K estimate for a near mint copy -- which is what _PCC_ has according to his pictures.

No need to be sorry. I believe that’s what it was worth. It’s a near fine + copy. I’m pretty diverse in values as it’s literally what I live and breath now daily. There is no one out there that would pay 5-7k for a fine one I do not believe. I listed a set not long ago that were all fine. The nicest I had ever seen. It fetched $6k at the end of the day. The set that was sold by Antoni was not as nice as you know. Long Walk and Roadwork have great value now too. Running man… still running behind.. no pun intended. You can always ask what you want for a book but finding a buyer that will pay it as you know is another beast entirely. My personal copy is flawless. I never seen better and I suspect I would get $3k ish for it… maybe a bit more. If anyone wants to pay me over 5k though? Yep I’m in! I won’t lie. Haha

So after cough cough years of collecting I picked this one up. Front cover has some wear, hard to tell thro the plastic but really is bright red. Doesn't look read - spine is not cracked, book is tight and back cover has no issues. So, I'm happy. On to the next cheapest one!

Don't feel bad. I put off collecting them too when they could be had much, much cheaper. So far I've found a NF UK Roadwork. It's pretty lonely. Haha.

I'd say Roadwork (which I quite like) is more of a "man fucks himself - and hard - while thinking fuck the man!" novel (this may be par for the course for the "fuck the man" niche, now that I think about it). Actually, his marriage got more of my attention than anything when I read it recently.

Fair enough, I'd have to re-read it I think to grasp fully, but I enjoyed it quite a bit.

Not a HUGE new P&J, but excited to finally receive CD's Interview With The Vampire. I didn't take any pics since it exactly like on the site product page. It's kinda generic as far as CD editions go; no artwork, even the back of the dustcover is blank. Book and paper are decent as usual. Don't really know why this took 6 years to get out.

It's a real shame that they couldn't have realized she was getting up there in age and make plans to do at least the original trilogy.

Didn't think I'd come across something like this, usually don't have the luck. What's the old adage, if I didn't have bad luck, I wouldn't have any luck at all. That's usually me. Anyway, I've been hoping to eventually add a signed and inscribed It to my collection, yeah in my dreams, but the cost has been way to prohibitive. But I got hit with a rare bit of good luck for me and stumbled across the next best thing. The price, I couldn't pass up or I would have been really stupid to pass up, especially the condition it was in.

Signed & Inscribed Uncorrected Page Proof of It:

http://www.thedarktower.org/gallery/data/500/medium/thumbnail8.jpeg http://www.thedarktower.org/gallery/data/500/medium/thumbnail-117.jpeg

Bernie Wrightson's Frankenstein. Another title that's alluded me for awhile because of cost but I somehow lucked out and stumbled across an eBay auction for it. Because of the way it was listed, there was only me and another bidder and I actually won. Usually never happens for me. The book was practically brand new. It was still in its shipping carton and wrapped in its brown shipping paper. The glassine wrapper was in like new condition and the book had barely been cracked. I'm sure I've probably used up all my good luck for SK books at this point.

Frankenstein:

http://www.thedarktower.org/gallery/data/500/medium/thumbnail-133.jpeg http://www.thedarktower.org/gallery/data/500/medium/s-l1600-15.jpg http://www.thedarktower.org/gallery/data/500/medium/s-l160014.jpg

Lastly, this is a non-King book but Neil Gaiman fan's might appreciate it. The Sandman-Season of Mists use to be the hard to find book in the day, especially signed. Always wanted to find a signed, inscribed and remarqued edition. The Neil Gaiman trifecta.

The Sandman-Season of Mists:

When I get the energy, I need to add some new and old adds to my personal collection page. Just getting over a bout of Covid.

My Birthday present, from me-for me.

Stephen King - ES

limited slipcased German HC
signed and remarqued from the illustrator Max Löffler

When the book was announced last year, I immediately contacted the illustrator
Max Löffler and asked him for a remarque. He was super friendly and said that he would be happy to remarque me a copy, but it will take a longer time, he was very busy.
No problem for me to wait, I'm super happy with the result. Due to time constraints he is no longer able to make any further remarques, so my copy is the one and only sig.+remarqued

I'm less than two years away from my silver wedding anniversary as a Stephen King collector, and today I received not one but two of the most elusive items on my list. Thanks to my friend David A. Williamson, I'm now the proud owner of The Maine Review magazine with the first appearance of 'The Revenge of Lardass Hogan.' 🙂

And thanks to a very close friend who gave me an incredible gift, I also acquired another one of the most difficult magazines to find: Marshroots - Fall 1973, the one that features the first appearance of 'It Grows on You.'

A 15-year hunt has come to an end, and I couldn't be happier!

Great find! Any idea who Otto is?

Otto Penzler did the Mysterious Press limited edition of Cujo. It basically saved Penzler's business. I think it's a pretty good guess that is who the book is signed for. That would be pretty cool if it was.

nothing big but I was able to get my UK copy of Argylle signed by Terry Hayes (co author of the book). The Elly Conway signature was done by the other author, Tammy Cohen. He mentioned it was the only one he had signed thus far so I have a unique piece at the moment. He also said at the signing he is now contracted to write I Am Pilgrim 2. And now that I know why it took 10 years to write The Year of Locust, I feel confident that it won't take another decade for the 2nd I Am Pilgrim book.

I also got my UK and US copies of I Am Pilgrim signed and a copy of The Year of the Locust signed.

Excellent. I apparently ordered 2 year of the locust signed, can’t remember duplicating but one from 2 suppliers. Didn’t realise it wasn’t the I am pilgrim sequel, good to know. My partner is reading it based on the fact I told her it was lol. She’s half way through and hasn’t realised yet.

I also have Argyll uk 1st signed by Elly only, and wondered who the actual author(s) was.

I was lucky to get one of the numbered ones - mine is number 4. A really cool collectable for my collection. I'll try to post some pictures soon. Jake went all out on this one.

Just wondering if anyone else here got one or not.

Finally managed to get one. Nowadays, it's hard to find boxes that don't have some kind of rubbing to the pastedown. This week, one came up that was stored in a shipping box and was in really nice shape, near fine. Out came the credit card.

The Regulators MotoKops 2200 Power Wagon Limited- The check (no. 322) is made out to Paul's Down-East SuperMart for $6.00. The memo line reads "lomotil", an over-the-counter medicine to treat diarrhea: (A Tommyknockers reference):

I spoke to Peter Schneider today.
Peter and his wife thought of the whole "check idea". Once King was on board, Peter and his wife wrote the "checks".
Using Stephen Spignesis encyclopedia and their own knowledge they wrote the checks. Your check referenced "The Tommyknockers" where characters suffered from severe diarrhea.
Lomotil (and Immodium) are anti-diarrhea meds.
