Those two books couldn't be in better hands, especially after holding the collection for them for so long.
Kind of odd to think of this. Hoping you managed to get those books at an ok price

Also, can I hold your collection for the next 11 years? :D

Been a LONG time since I posted in this thread, but here is the background...At Betts, I had a high-end customer that asked me to HOLD his purchases for him 11 years ago....I did so (the ONLY person I have or will do this for)...he passed away 14 months ago without a will (unbeknownst to me)...There was a "fight" between his girlfriend of 10+ years and his estranged family, who both wanted his items (about $175,000 worth)....after 14 months, the two parties agreed to settle...family got most, girlfriend got some. The family picked up their "haul" today and I was able to convince them to sell me two Carrie 1st editions....what makes these special is that the two were inscribed to sisters who lived in the same building as King his senior year at Orono...They both attended his wedding and he theirs. My customer (RIP) got one of the sisters to recount her meeting King etc, which I find fascinating. Both Carrie books are inscribed April 16, 1974. I think that is the first King signed these at an event at U Maine-Onono. I have not seen an earlier date. So here are the inscriptions to the two sisters and a photo of the letter one of the sisters wrote. A good read. She wrote it long hand (which I have) but also typed it up.

This is kind of a silly one, but I like to grab different editions of The Shining when I can, and for whatever reason it took me forever to find a decent copy of this edition:

http://www.thedarktower.org/gallery/data/500/medium/3D40B1B4-D1E9-4966-8463-5F2B02205AF5.jpeg

So it’s not really worth much more than the time it took to find it, but I’m really happy to finally have it in my collection!

Couldn't pass this one up! Thanks to another TDT member, my Dark Tower proof set is nearly complete. Just looking for the 1st state of DTII (Orange cover with no sticker). Stoked to have this one as I only know of two other people with a copy (Alec & David at Betts).

It's been a long journey! Ever since I was a young boy I collected King but as a child, it was the occasional garage sale paperback find, library sale and as a member of the Stephen King library(only BCEs with that) but I built up quite a collection. As an adult, I fell out of collecting and only around five or six years ago got back into it. I challenged myself to get all of King's 1st edition/1st printing trades. Yesterday was the day('salem's Lot first edition), and though they're certainly not mint (especially those first few Doubleday's) I now have a complete King firsts collection with the exception of a few of the Bachman paperbacks which have been out of my reach for a while now. So thank you to everyone on here, and in the Facebook groups who have helped me along the way. One journey is complete but there's always another on the horizon! Ka is a wheel, after all!

It will not mean anything to you guys, but this book is now "out".

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FFM4HS2X0AUDUXI?format=jpg&name=large

A friend of mine has been working on a french King bibliography since 1995. And every so often he releases a new version. The last one was from 2011, and was about 100 pages.

With a couple of other friends and french collectors, we spent the last year working on a new version, discussing editions, variations of the covers,, about where to put a coma, about whether a book existed or whether it was just a digital fake cover, etc!
We ended up doubling the pages (now 200+) !

It's basically like Justin's bibliography, but regarding french editions and with the covers.
Spent a looooot of time on it, but it's now available as print-on-demand!
The only issue is, like every bibliography it's already sort of out-dated when it's printed. Lol. Remember the Cemetery Dance version of Justin's book, with the 2 addentum chapbooks?

A few more pictures

And yes, amazon has some issues. But from the customer point of view, it has a lot of advantages. Going through Amazon's KDP platform allowed us to buy test copies and release the book without any upfront money. I have lost many evenings/weekends not understanding a lot of issues, but now the book can be bought at basically the same price everywhere in the world. Printed locally, meaning no shipping cost from France !

I've been slow in collecting over the last few years, other than keeping up with PS & CD editions, but I DID just commission a remarque/artwork for Sleeping Beauties. Jana did a wonderful job. I'd been planning to have it tipped in, but I could probably frame it for not much more, so I might do that. I hope you enjoy having a view of it.

On New Year's Eve when I came home from the hospital, there was a package waiting for me. A very kind member and friend had sent me an unsolicited gift. I was so pleased to see what was inside.
I'm told there are only a handful of these in the world.

Custom slipcase for "In the Tall Grass". Not only does it old one copy, but it's double wide to accommodate a signed, and unsigned copy!:

Cleaning out my grandparents house, and came across a box of old Yankee magazines up in the attic. Found this gem in amongst the others. I believe it's King's first appearance in this magazine. I know he's in a few other issues, but was having a hard time finding a list of what issues to look for. Is there a list available anywhere?

I've dreamt of having King write BOO! in blue ink in my waterlogged The Stand paperback or do one of his balloon doodles in my It hardcover (I don't even need a signature); I can only imagine how exciting it would be to actually have it happen.

With such an affectionate inscription and his use of “Bill”, the recipient was clearly a close acquaintance to some degree. I wonder who “Barbara” was…? Unfortunate that there’s no last name so her identity remains (I presume) unknown.

Hi all.
I have been wanting to share this with the community for a couple of weeks. I had to build up the nerve to finally post this. I only have a few flat signed/inscribed Stephen Kings. But when I came across this, I felt, if I never get another one, this will be the capper to that part of my collection. Quick background. The seller I bought this from, found the book in a box of books, left out in the rain, at a garage sale in Los Angeles. The lady holding the sale was selling off items from her late father. Like I stated earlier, the book was left out in the rain so it got, unfortunately, a little water damage. Some water staining, but still in fair condition.

The Tommyknockers 1st edition inscribed to Steven Spielberg, Amy Irving and their son Max:

Doesn't work for me, but suspect it is because I am using work computer, and firewall is probably blocking it, but there isn't even any indication something is missing.

I picked this up from the framer yesterday, Jochem (my framer) absolutely loved how i went with a frame that matched and incorporated a dominant color from it- i went with the font color.

Anyways, it's hung on the wall by now and i'm in love with it!*[emoji4]

Last summer I won an auction for a Doctor Sleep inscribed to King's highschool friends Caroline and Leon from his graduating class of 66. That package would come with an Easter egg of sorts that would lead me to purchasing Caroline's actual yearbook inscribed twice by an 18yr old SK. In school Caroline was known by "Carrie", and it is her belief that she inspired the title of his first work. Her prom dress was vandalized by a jealous classmate, which may have also loosely inspired the climax of the novel.
There are also clues that King used these years to inspire future works, such as classmate "Roland Desjardins". Despite the obvious similarity to our Roland Deschain, Desjardin was the name used for the coach in Carrie, and later used for a character in Gwendy's Button box. There are other mentions that suggest other inspirations, including that of Lady Abigail from the Stand. The inscription to Caroline in the back of the book one of the earliest I've ever seen, and touching to say the least. This has never been owned by another collector, and Im happy to be able to share with you all. It also came with a copy of a "Batman" script that king wrote for a school play. But it won't let me post additional pictures.

Exciting news to share!!
I've been holding this close to the vest waiting to get confirmation and yesterday after talking with a previous employee of Doubleday I'm happy to share.
When I started to collect Stephen King editions of value I started to learn about Proofs and arcs. I had collected for a time before that but unaware of the world of Signed Limited Numbered and Lettereds, Proofs, Manuscripts and all the other amazing forms the collecting world had to offer in the Stephen King universe! Proofs and all prepublication items became and still is my favorite focus! While learning about all the points and pertinent info regarding this focus I kept going back to see the picture Bob had shared for the Darktower.org proof section of his Doubleday Proofs. I thought those were the most beautiful Stephen King collectibles I had been exposed to since collecting! This set me off on the goal to get a complete set of the Doubleday Proofs! I was made aware shortly after making this my longterm goal that there was NOT a true Proof of Carrie and the ARC is what I'd be having to accept. One night in 2016 a Galley of Carrie was discovered and I was able to obtain it. The information sheet that was glued to the top which was common for Doubleday Proofs showed a release date of February 8th, 1974, this was later chaged to April. The information sheet also had ORIGINAL PRICE of $6.95 this was chaged to $5.95 for release.
Almost 9 years to the day that I became the owner of the Galley I acquired a "First State" dustjacket for Carrie with the original price of $6.95. I'm incredibly excited and everyother word you can think of to have this to go along with the Galley! The time and help that Bob and a previous employee of Doubleday provided in helping me identify the dustjacket was so very generous and I'm grateful beyondwords! This community has some amazing people in it who selflessly help others and have resources that are nothing short of incredible!
This is not for sale or trade but wanted to share something that I think is pretty special in this hobby! We the public are exposed to such a small amount of what is actually out there and produced during the publishing process and love seeing new discoveries in Stephen King collecting!
