Totally not King related, but definitely a new P & J; legit Beatles Gold sales award, for the 1999 re-release of Yellow Submarine. Same auction they had original gold 45's for Penny Lane, Something, they had a Platinum White Album ... all were quite beyond my pocketbook. I stretched to get this one, and as a life-long Beatles fan couldn't be happier; this was definitely a checklist item.

It says it was presented to The Beatles. So "The Beatles" were the original owners.

It came from the collection of Connie and Dennis Dailey.

Here's a short article about their collection. http://intelligentcollector.com/all-you-need-is-beatles/ (intelligentcollector.com/all-you-need-is-beatles)

Who would have been the original owner of this? Definitely an interesting item.

Sales awards are presented to many people; the artist, record executives, sales managers, PR people, etc. This is the only one of this particular award that I've come across so far; it would have been either one award presented to the group, or three awards, one for each living member at the time. Unfortunately there's no ownership provenance included; I'd love to be able to show that this was actually owned by one of them, but that will be a matter of research and luck.

It says it was presented to The Beatles. So "The Beatles" were the original owners.
It came from the collection of Connie and Dennis Dailey. Here's a short article about their collection. http://intelligentcollector.com/all-you-need-is-beatles/

There's a LOT of fake gold records out there, just do an eBay search. Most have a little disclaimer "This was never actually owned by XXXX", because they are after-market items, reproductions. Legit items should be RIAA certified, and even then those can be faked; there's lots of things to look for to make sure they're the real deal, just like in King collecting. Part of that is buying from a reputed collector/seller/auction house, and you couldn't ask for better than that with this one (great little article there!). I've already sent a request for information/provenance, but would assume that if one was available that they would have included it in the first place.

Received my Gwendys sl today.

Also a copy of ps tommyknockers. I like that. Can’t wait to read it.

In the pipeline are are copy of the signed gift edition of horns, and the last William peter blatty sl from dark regions, both at half price, and finally a copy of the fireman at rediculously low price from ps pub in the Black Friday sale. Not bad savings for great books.

This packet came recently. It's from Peter Schneider, and includes a color 8x10, three pages describing how the brass plaque came to be, and was then changed to a black plaque, and of course, one of the brass plaques itself.

Look for this packet to be sold here on the site in the near future-at a VERY good price.

Hmmmm, A big box from Betts. What could it be?

I see the USPS take "Fragile" labels seriously. I wonder if David packs well?

After a very very hard start to the year I have bitten the bullet and bought the Artist State of the Talisman.

Book no 24 of 70.

The direction is pretty much straight forward -> south ;D
And no, I do not thing that you missed a post as I did not posted on that topic before.

Short story is :
For quite some years I was dreaming on an expedition to the south pole, and in 2017 I got the confirmation that I would get a "seat"
Still I had to raise some founds for this and decided that I would let some of my collection-items go for this very rare and unique chance, and so I did.

Kept much but also sold much and finally in December i reached the most southern point of the earth.

(no flat earthers here , i hope :D )

Thanks a lot for all the kind words, that is really appreciated!
It was indeed a very impressive experience and something that will last quite a while.

I could probably talk 2 days about that - what i wont do now - no worries - but i will happily answer all questions.
The most common once so far ;D

1) It was cold, yes , fucking cold. On the Pole we had -25° when it was sunny and -40° when it was windy (what is probably -2000 in F , i dont know but something like that ;D)
2) But thats not really an issue because you have matching clothes, and especially shoes.
3) Yes we lived in tents, and yes they have been warm enough
4) Yes we peed in bottles, and we brought two , so that you have one for drinking and one for peeing - poor bastards who had two bottles of the same color
5) What we did there ? If you have nice weather (see 1) you can do a lot of excursions and exploring, if you are caught in a blizzard (see 1) you learn cribbage and play cards with the pilots
6) can you kiss the pole ? Yes you can , but you will stick to it as its out of metal and its cold (see 1)

The company where I work has not been paying what my contract says for almost a year already. It's always on the verge of being solved and the money I'm owed paid, but something ALWAYS happens that delays all. And after I returned from my holidays and I asked about news, I was told that due to my complains on the matter some people have been considering firing me. In the meantime, someone wanted to remove me from a project I designed and developed that's going to be shared with the board (a training software that basically removes the need of having people training new data collectors). I'm still considering my options...

Sorry for the offtopic.

If they fire you because of your ‘complaining’ about them breaching the contract they have with you, I would say you have good grounds for a hefty lawsuit. Either way, that sucks, sorry to hear it.

Keep plugging away, but don't be afraid to walk away. There is no way that someone with your skills, good vibe, good luck, and elan won't be a benefit to someone else.

Thanks, J! I was really anxious until I received the item.

As for the salary, it's a lot of money and even more for someone in Argentina where the currency is so devaluated.

This is not the type of book to carry to events or signings which are far away however since it has been on the list to get signed for a long time, I have a special case to house it when there is a chance of running into someone in a parking lot.
When I approached Mr King in parking lot and asked if he could sign something from my collection, he said, he'd sign one book. When I handed this to him, Mr. King made a comment and then called it a "Rich persons book" ... He politely signed it however I felt he would have been happier signing an old beat up paperback.. Was not quick enough to point out it was an appreciated gift and one now even more valued.

Proper Lifting Technique

Keep a wide base of support. ...
Squat down, bending at the hips and knees only. ...
Keep good posture. ...
Slowly lift by straightening your hips and knees (not your back). ...
Hold the load as close to your body as possible, at the level of your belly button.
Use your feet to change direction, taking small steps.

The Martian Chronicles Artist Proof Poster Signed Limited Edition #21/200 (Studio Graphics, 1995).

Artist proof poster for Ray Bradbury's The Martian Chronicles, which utilizes the image from the second 1953 edition of the book.

The piece came from Bradbury's estate auction and is signed by Ray Bradbury and Robert Watson, and numbered A/P 21/200.

The artist used a blue palette. The picture was accepted but the blue was rejected since Mars is "the red planet."
