I haven’t posted much lately in the way of P&J. At Christmas my wife surprised me with the last S/L I needed to complete my collection. A My Pretty Pony. It was something I’ll never forget. It even came with the traycase. I had looking for years and here she is giving it to me on Christmas. I was truly touched and it made my holidays. It was also the nicest copy I have seen.

I wondered what to do moving forward but there is still so much I want to get and today this arrived. I love Whelan and this marks 15 originals for me. I reached out to Audrey and Michael and he had thoughtful memories of painting this. It is a study of Roland from the first Gunslinger and he called it: Gunslinger Eternal Night. It’s just as new and was held by a King collector. I always wanted an older piece... and finally have one. I have since dropped it off to have the glass removed and replaced by new anti glare and UV. My love for collecting will just grow where I have completed my First goal. I still have many more. Here is a couple pictures I took of the piece before I dropped it off to the framer.

I bought a copy of the unsigned Scream Press Skeleton Crew S/L online. I got a good description over the phone, and figured that since there are only 300 unsigned copies, $75 was a great deal.

The book arrived yesterday. The seller should have looked a little more closely!

Wow, that's some amazing "awesome deals" out there! :) Mine would be a Father Cody 'Salem's Lot for $3 at a college book sale (Gettysburg College in PA). It has a crease on the cover, some chipping on the spine, and a magic marker write-out on the title page, but other than that it's in good condition. I'd say that that was an "awesome deal"! Still can't believe it was just sitting on the table when I found it!

I picked up a copy of the Phantasia Press edition of William Gibson's Neuromancer a year or so ago. The seller said it had a slipcase, but wasn't the signed edition. Once it arrived, I checked the back, to see a very nice signature and number.... I certainly didn't mind paying an eighth of the going price for the signed/limited.

So, this new one did not cost me a penny. Yesterday, my wife's friend comes by after doing an early spring cleaning of her cellar. Turns out she and her husband visited Bangor 25 years ago and purchased this signed limited edition print. Not sure who Richard A. Manzo is? She thinks she bought it at the old Bett's bookstore. She gave it to me. Never saw one before. Kinda cool.

Big congrats on the Harris! It is truly a beautiful book and the price they had for it during the sale was great. Like most people, when it first came out I was skeptical of the $1250 $1500 price tag, so despite Sub Press's note that it was "one of the finest books" they ever produced I stayed away. Fortunately for me, it was a slow seller precisely because of the hefty price tag, and when they had a 50% off all stock sale a while later, I was very surprised that it wasn't excluded! I ordered it, expecting to be rejected, but lo and behold it came later that week.

It's definitely among the most beautiful books I own - I love the leather inlay on the traycase and the book itself is just marvelous. I'm very happy that someone here snagged it! It made it maybe 2 mins longer than most books (it was still for sale after I completed my first order), I think again because it was the most expensive one on the list and you really have to see it before you get a sense of how awesome it is.

And the Simmons are also very nice of course :)

Thanks, Lotuz! I think the list price was actually $1500 - the PC sale price was $750. You did well to pick up a true lettered for that price. And yes the book is lovely.

I think one reason I was able to get it was not just the high price, but they had multiple PC copies. It was still listed as available after I completed my order.

It's the only way I could own this edition, that's for sure.

In all my years here you never have spoken on this thread to share in your fellow members joy and at a pride and joy. Instead.... The first time I ever see you do.... it’s to bash someone who is obviously proud of what they acquired which is why they came here.... To share that “joy”. I don’t even know what to say. Wow...

Leave it to Bruce to piss on someone's leg while they are watching a parade.

No hard and fast rule, but in general I would say it is impolite to criticize someone's Pride and Joy unless opinions were solicited.

Also, as has been mentioned numerous times, too much capitalizing is just screaming like a child.

Pos rep sent to Kris. No need to neg rep Bruce as I think even he realizes he is an asshole.

As indicated a few weeks back, been quiet on the boards for awhile but, active behind the scenes in support of growing my collection.

As you know a big part of my collection includes original art from the likes of Dameron, Whelan, Wrightson and others. All published art in support of King’s work.

With that, picked up the original cover art for the UK Edition of Needful Things by Steve Crisp a few weeks back. Pretty cool piece, thought I would share.

So cool. It’s the kind of piece that could be hung anywhere in the house or office.

Question, when someone says “original cover art,” does that mean it’s the one and only painting that was scanned to be used for the cover/DJ? There can only be one of these per book, right?

In an effort to keep the Thread rolling a bit....

Just picked up the original art by Ned Dameron that was used as an interior illustration in the Centipede Press publication of Knowing Darkness.

Ned’s interpretation of GERALD’S GAME. A very dark palette and corresponding interpretation of what happened inside that house. If you’ve got time, take a look at the details. The moonlight is appropriately eerie and both the dog and the face in the mirror above the dresser literally freak me out...

A very large piece at 30 x 44.

Hope you find this as creepy as I do....

Question, when someone says “original cover art,” does that mean it’s the one and only painting that was scanned to be used for the cover/DJ? There can only be one of these per book, right?

Yep! There are quite a few original King cover and interior paintings in the collections of past and current members of this forum.

Not a big fan of either Needful things or Geralds Game, but DAMN thats great art! I am almost wanting to put GG on my reread list, even though it is in my bottom 5 SK books. (after seeing the movie and that Painting, my opinion is changing).

I'm confused about your comment about the mirror. I don't see a mirror, it looks like a painting of a butterfly, or am I having selective vision again.

I too, can perhaps see it as a painting as well. The beauty of art is individualized interpretation.

Thanks for all the feedback. I’ll have two more original interiors to post on Monday.

Guess I’ll go ahead and kick this thread off for the week with my newest art acquisitions.

Original, published pieces by Mr. Bernie Wrightson.

Safe to say you will recognize these but, if not, they are from THE STAND and CYCLE OF THE WEREWOLF respectively.

Headed to the frame shop to get them redone. Better glass needed but, you get the idea.

What a wonderful place this is, I've been a lurker for a very long time and decided to finally sign up last week. And this is my first post.

I've been a King fan for nearly 40 years but I'm not the usual type of collector who roam these pages. I tend pick out just one or two pieces and try and display them as best I can

I have little chance of amassing a significant book collection like those here. I'm very impressed with some of the incredible libraries I've seen on the My Collection pages. Just phenomenal.

What I've decided to post is a couple of pictures of my signed and inscribed book. And it is Stephen King related. And it is rare - in fact - one of a kind. I also believe that nearly all of the readers here will have seen it before.

So with that tease, I realize I'll be back in a couple of hours with the images. sorry, this drum role is not deliberate, I just realized my images are not accessible for me at this precise moment. Please have patience with this newb.

Thread Station Break:

A fun fact about the Shawshank Bible (most of you probably already know). Frank used two in the movie filming. As Palooka already pointed out, only one had the hammer routing done (a very delicate process) and it had a black ribbon. The scene where the warden hands the bible through the bars has a purple ribbon. Two bibles used for the filming.
