Did some fun DT shopping this week. Got myself a B&N Gunslinger Funko Pop Prototype, and also a Breaker Watch from the DT movie.

That's a pretty solid mail call. I've always been interested in seeing a copy of THE UNSEEN KING but haven't gotten around to tracking one down. Have you flipped through it yet? What do you think? Interesting stuff or is it outdated now.

I've not done much more than flick through, but it covers Kings work from the very early years (Childhood and Campus works) and then onto what (at least at the time) were less known works such as The Gunslinger, COTW and The Plant. It also covers some of Kings poetry and early screenplays. The book was published in '88 so its quite dated now. The chapter on The Plant looks quite detailed and I look forward to reading that.

I received a package of 5 books today from Vinny Chong!

I'm in LOVE with this one. It creeps me out SOOO much!

http://www.thedarktower.org/gallery/data/967/img535resized.jpg
An excellent remarque from the cover image.

Next up is a Family Portrait in my Doctor Sleep S/L that Vinny did a great job of organizing to show the family relationships.

http://www.thedarktower.org/gallery/data/820/medium/img530resized.jpg

Next is what I had him do in the Trade Doctor Sleep that already had a Chadbourne 'Fly Guy' on the endpapers (shown). Vinny flipped the perspective and we get to see Dan & Azzy at the hospice:

http://www.thedarktower.org/gallery/data/799/medium/img532resized.jpg
http://www.thedarktower.org/gallery/data/799/medium/img533resized.jpg

Finally, I think my favorite of the bunch. I really enjoyed some of the party guests that Vinny AND Don Maitz had done, so I asked for something in that direction. He did a great job (and I think it shows that he's maybe watching season 2 of 'Preacher'. ;)

Well, the IT week in Argentina is finally over and I couldn't be more happy about it. I was able to meet both Andrés and Bárbara Muschietti (Director and Producer of IT Movie) in person. I was already in touch with both due to my book (I sent them copies back in January) but it was really nice to be able to talk with both in person...a lot. Last Monday I talked for five minutes with both before they were interviewed by one of the most important radio shows in Argentina (which host is a friend of mine) and both received as a gift the IT Gliceé print produced by Suntup Press (thanks Paul for the fast shipment!). Then I went to the press conference presented by Warner. On the next day I interviewed Andy for the press junket (interview is in Spanish and can be watched here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HZjap-DpeWE) and at night I attended the VIP screening, which was presented by Andy and Bárbara, and both watched the movie with us. It was a really nice event and I was able to giveaway 60 tickets for that VIP screening (I even had more ticket than any other media). And on Thursday I attended the best event of all: a private event for 30 guests in a restaurant/bar, where Andy and Bárbara attended, took pics, signed stuff and most of all TALKED a lot with everyone. I spent nearly an hour talking with him, I got insight on some nice details of the production and he also invited me to watch the scenes that didn't make it to the film nor will do to the Director's Cut. So next year I have to attend a conference in Charlotte and will travel to LA for a day or two. :)

Once again, I was asked to do a lot of interviews, including one small for TV and I have five more this week only, including one in the largest newspaper of the country. I got A LOT of stuff in these last two weeks and Warner will give me more this week. For now, these are the things I got:

This is a gift given to journalist for the press conference:

Some cool items, including the S/L of Mister Slaughter. I paid $153 for it. :)

The boat is signed by Andy Muschietti. The other boat is part of the stuff used by Warner for the promotion:

At the hospitality room waiting for the press junket interview. And see the cool item in the desk:

And finally, I was the winner of this particular item. I contacted Marsha before paying it and she told me she was pretty sure it was legit. Kinda interesting because I didn't have an item signed by King before Carrie.

No pics inside, not numbered, no deleted material (only the prologue Before the Play).

$500++++++ There was only 15 done and the same for each venue. You can get 4 different animal doodles within the 15 that were done. King did 2 I think and the rest were Owen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The King ones will be worth FAR more of course.

So, I posted my thoughts of the event last night in St. Louis in another thread. My greatest surprise of the night was the book I received after the event. When your wrist band color was called you could leave the auditorium to get your book. My color was purple so we were the first ones to leave.

I approached the tables with the books. I heard people screaming in delight as they opened their books. The lady checked to make sure I had the correct color band, "ripped" it off my wrist, and handed me a book. I quickly got out of the way of others clamoring to get their copy. It was crazy.

So, I'm standing near the exit door waiting for my family to finish their trek to the table of death and open my book. I was confused at first, but there was so much going on around me that I didn't have time to figure out what I had seen. Well, that and I wasn't looking forward to the 9 hour drive I had ahead of me. So, as soon as we got to the car, I put the books into a box with bubble wrap that I had brought with me. Yeah, I'm that type of person :)

Fast forward to noon today after I woke up. I open the book and start trying to figure it out. To me, it looks like maybe Stephen signed both his and Owens names, and Owen did the same thing? I would love to hear other opinions on this. If that is the case, I assume it is a rarity? And, yes, I have already put a Brodart on it :)

I think your theory about each signing their own, and then the others name is correct.
Very cool, and very valuable.

I only had a couple seconds to pop the cover open. The people scrambling around was crazy. I saw four signatures when I opened the cover. That's what confused me, but I didn't have time to really study what I had seen.

That's awesome!! I love the variations between that and some of the doodles. When they were talking about signing books, Owen said he challenged his dad to sign one as small as possible. Their goal for the rest of the tour was for just one book at each venue with tiny signatures.

I've recently and accidentally came accross the following book (on the left).

This is a second french edition of FRANKENSTEIN.
The first edition contains 3 volumes is extremely rare. I recently found out that a copy sold for 15K€ about a year or so ago, so extremely unlikely.

What is cool about that new copy is that :
- well it's in much better shape than the copy that I already (have on the right), and I mean really more,
- this is a rare numbered version, and only 15 were printed on special paper! Who knows how many survived from 1922?

Very nice copy, but I am not sure yet. I may try to sell it.

I guess I should share. Part of the reason, I was selling a few things I quite like was because this little gem kind of broke me. Haha as you know my favourite book of all time is IT. I have a beautiful reproduction of the original cover by Robert Guisti which is just... well cherished is the right word I guess. I knew Bob had this for a long time. I asked to buy it... he flat out said no. It's all he had left from IT. It wasn't for sale. Then out of the blue Jim posted a piece which was found by Bob and his wife Grace. I was sad of course as I talked them quite a bit and it wasn't mentioned but hey... all good and I'm happy for it to go to a member and art lover. Not even three days later Bob reached out. Told me he changed his mind and was selling a few things. This was his original cover and what he wanted but they wanted something a little different... here is my new baby. He also wrote me a letter and just wow.. part of me wishes this was the cover!

And a little background on the following ones:

Years ago, during the art gallery on Stephen King in Florida, I saw the Georgie watercolor and contacted the artist right away to buy it, only to receive a response that it was already sold. I asked if he'd do a comission and got no reply. And I waited until one day he announced he needed money for his dog's surgery and was willing to do comissions. I jumped in. It took nearly 8 months, but I finally receive this original watercolor, and a print of the original one for my patience. :)

Soon after I started collecting King in a focused way, PS Publishing began releasing their special editions. I’ve never really been taken by their artist variants but I’ve always loved the Lettered edition of Thinner. I think Les Edwards is one of the best fantasy artists working today, and I think this cover is one of his best pieces. While I don't collect Lettered editions (beyond my pay scale), I have started collecting Lettered editions where there is no S/L variant.

Well, after years of it being beyond reach, I was finally ready and lucky enough to obtain a copy. Thinner Lettered edition, 1/26 copies, signed by King, Edwards, and Mains. An absolutely stunning book and traycase, with an original piece of artwork and book of remarques... And, of course, a big thank you to member here, Mr RT...

One of the corner stones of my collection . . . a paperback edition of Roadwork that has been inscribed to me by both Stephen King and Richard Backman. I picked the title up at used book store in Orlando, Florida in the early 90's. I had an ongoing correspondence with King back than and gifted many signed, first editions to my father, also a big King fan. This one, though, I kept for myself!

It seems that I found something I have been hunting down for years... cannot wait to recieve it!

It's funny because :
- I did hunt it down on the entire internet. "found" traces of one, but only recently got a reply sent more than a year ago !
- A copy has appeared online about a week ago, quite expensively and badly advertised. More than the higher price that I want to spend for it, and the seller do not seem opened to negociation.
- I will not pay much for mine as I negociated a trade :))

Is it or it's quite often that one can look for an item for a VERY LONG TIME and none are available, and then suddenly, quite a few appears?

Pretty proud of this. I had a Liseys Story bookplate and sold it after doing some research. It was a first and the bookplate was attached. The night of November 7th where all these goodies were handed out was at Battersea Park Events Arena. All the 1st’s were used for the signings but this night you were handed a 3rd or 5th printing and thus a true set would have one. The bookplate was also not attached. I reached out to a chap I had dealt with previous and he was there that night and had the total package. I made him a generous offer and he accepted!! I was missing the bookmark and paperweight as well. He had the box and tons of photos as he went to every signing including the event on November 7th. A complete set I have not seen in this shape with so many extras.
