Maybe a bit strange to release the Film Art book before the movie is released.
So I kept myself from looking too much inside, but it looks promising. Movie first!

Nice! What's the concept art / movie stills ratio? I've seen some art books recently where a lot of the material are just movie screenshots, which is odd. Hoping here it's not the case, I'd love to see some early-early sketches and layouts there. And maybe even hints about the future films?

I skipped a little bit through the book and there is a lot of art / sketches inside as well!
I don't know if there are hints about future films inside. Not planning to read the book before the movie is out ;)

Whee! I've been looking for one of these for years. And this one is in just about perfect condition - doesn't even look like it's ever been read. The elusive purple topstained Vampire Lestat.

I love staining, but top-staining is a lost opportunity - why not stain all 3 sides? It's quite a nice effect.

Top-staining gives me a "nice! ...oh..." let down feeling.

Yep, it is. I think I first heard of it in Detwiller's (?) thread. Something to the effect Anne Rice was not happy the book first came out without top stain, so they added it. I guess it is considered a variant. And hard to find. I feel lucky I was still up in the middle of the night when the ABE "book you are looking for" notice came.

Nothing remotely as impressive as others in the thread, but ...

- UK edition of The Long Walk by Bachman for $3.75 or so. Not in great condition, but my hands were still shaking as I handed over a fiver and got back change.
- BCA UK edition of Dolores Claiborne, new for $4.95. Am I right in thinking that's the world first edition of that book?

I have mine standing straight up and have found the case doesn't want to stay shut when I do that. I bet an angled easel would help I just don't own one big enough yet. It's on my shopping list for the weekend.

As you can see it's got a gap now at the top yet it's closed at the bottom. I would get something that will angle it back while holding the bottom all the way so it doesn't rest on just the back board. Oh man, I just popped in here and have freaked with all of the new P& J's. Rick, that inscribed Shining from 1980! Hell, yes. Looks to be in great shape, too. Roog, I think I'm going to have to buy that collection and pretend it's "for my kids" future reading copies. And Wolfehr, that Whelan has struck a cord with me. It's terrifying (and perfectly framed). And, all the other P&J's. Great stuff!

So, a few years back I sold my Marble edition of Dolan's. Yes, it was the more limited of the two, but I never really liked it. I always loved the look of this version much better. I jumped on this "Presentation Copy" when it (and a bonus case) appeared on Bett's. Then when they arrived today, and I glance at the return address, I come to find out that it comes courtesy of The Caretaker! Thanks David and Ralph!

Here are some new additions of mine.....first is a portrait Michael did of Detta Walker...Audrey said that since I own Susannah portrait, I must own Detta.

http://www.thedarktower.org/gallery/data/519/medium/Detta.jpg

These next 2 I waited YEARS to get, not exaggerating. Michael has stopped taking requests for remarques for a long while now, so do not think he is "back in business" with these again, so please do not ask him for a remarque (or me to ask him)....but, like I said, I waited YEARS to get these...worth the wait.

My goal has always been to get my entire Publisher's Copy DT S/L set remarqued by all the artists....now that Bernie Wrightson has passed, that goal will never be achieved, but I do have Gunslinger, Waste Lands, Wizard & Glass, Song of Susannah, Dark Tower VII, Little Sisters of Eluria and Wind Through the Keyhole....Phil Hale has had by DT II book for over a year...through some miscommunication/forgetfullness, I hope to have my remarqued copy back within 3 months, making my set complete EXCEPT for Wolves.

Now through a mistake, Michael remarqued my LSOE S/L with the image I wanted for my DT VII...that of Sai King (King appears in Dark Tower but not in LSOE)...oh well...he then made something up for the DT VII book.

Here is my LSOE remarque:

http://www.thedarktower.org/gallery/data/519/medium/LSOE_King_Oy.jpg

Here is the DT VII remarque:

http://www.thedarktower.org/gallery/data/519/medium/DTVII_PC.jpg

Again. Michael IS NOT back in biz of doing remarques...these were "owed"/contracted BEFORE he quit doing them on request.

To David's point, Michael is out of the remarque business but, this one was worth the wait!

Not King related but I thought that I would share it anyway. I spent this past weekend at Boston Comic Con, and while I may have missed out on the cool IT swag (never saw it), I did manage to meet one of the great icons of the movie poster business, Drew Struzman. He has created some of the most iconic images (Harry Potter, Indiana Jones, Back to the Future, The Thing, Goonies, etc) including this Star Wars one I had him sign. He was kind enough to add the "May The Force Be With You" as well. I was also lucky enough to meed up with Anthony Daniels, of C3PO fame, and have him sign it as well. I am so lucky to have it on the wall of my movie room.

I got these little King-related art pieces as well while attending Boston Comic Con this weekend. The first, which was created by Christopher Uminga and is on a piece of metal, made me laugh so much I had to have it...

http://www.thedarktower.org/gallery/data/500/medium/IMG_34271.JPG http://www.thedarktower.org/gallery/data/500/medium/IMG_3428.JPG

while the second two, both by Heather Morris, I just wanted to have on display near the books they pay homage to. It's hard to tell from the photo, but at the center of each rose in the number "19."

Been meaning to post these for a couple of weeks, but been very busy at work, and on vacation.

Bought this pride and joy from Mike Pasiuk. It was one of my highest wants. It was an easy transaction done outside of eBay.

Near the end of Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemtion, Red finds a package left for him by Andy. Part of the note included said "Remember that hope is a good thing, Red, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies."
I asked King to write something to that effect in my book, and the result you see is what SK wrote.

When Red finds the package, there are twenty brand new $50 bills in an envelope. I figured that they very well could have been from 1969.

It is legal to do so. It's been done before (Charnel House "Last Call" lettered (http://www.charnelhouse.com/graphics/books/lastcall_let2.gif)). One can buy uncut sheets of bills (https://www.bonanza.com/listings/Uncut-Plate-of-32-1-bills-2001/321145884?goog_pla=1&gpid=18283950120&keyword=&goog_pla=1&pos=1o2&ad_type=pla&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIsobwu9Po1QIVEp7ACh0qAwtEEAQYAiAB EgLtnPD_BwE)from the US mint. Beautiful, Antoni. I love those inscribed editions with beautiful old signatures. Congratulations!

As Antoni mentioned above, I sold these books to him.

The person that I sold the Skeleton Crew for, was told it was inscribed to a friend of the Special Effects guy who worked on Maxium Overdrive.

I believe the "Dave" mentioned in the inscription is David W. Strong (who also worked on Silver Bullet, Cat's Eye, and Firestarter) who is credited in the Camera and Electrical Department on IMDB. I cannot prove this, but the timing (1985 production for a 1986 release) is right.

About the following one, I know King doesn't like to sign pictures and that's the main reason I always avoided buying one, even those where the signature looked real. But a couple of weeks ago I saw one for sale for a really low amount (less than $50), the seller had a good reputation (I purchased from him before) and I jumped in. The signature is not printed (the picture is printed in a poor quality paper and you can notice the pen writing in the paper) and both the inscription and the signature look authentic to me. Thoughts?

That sig is real yep... I prob would have passed where the picture was so bad but hey... $50 bucks is cheap! I do have a question Ari.. how come you do not show the number of your proof? Is there a reason? Just curious is all:)

Actually, I paid $30 for the pic. :)

And the number is not there since there's an embargo on it and I wouldn't like someone to put one for sale and use a picture with my number on it.

You cant just copy the link the photo collection gives you unfortunately. Just strip off the tags, so from this:

<img src="http://www.thedarktower.org/gallery/data/506/medium/GS41.jpg" />

to this:

http://www.thedarktower.org/gallery/data/506/medium/GS41.jpg

and then put that into the IMG tag:

EDIT: Simon got there first and better but click the Insert Image icon (looks kinda like a tree) then paste in the URL to the image....or enclose the URL in the tags like this (without the spaces) http://www.thedarktower.org/gallery/data/506/medium/GS41.jpg which gives you this result: http://www.thedarktower.org/gallery/data/506/medium/GS41.jpg

You can't copy the image location for the thumbnail, but if you go to the image itself, and then copy the image location, you can paste it using the insert picture icon.

I clarified it (hopefully correctly), in cit74's collection thread.

I believe he figured it out.

AT&T did release a few rare phone press kit for MR MERCEDES. Those were selling for $200-300 which in itself arent expensive, but more than I could afford.
I collect movie press kits, so I was gutted that I couldnt get anything, so imagine how I felt when I won the following press kit on ebay : not the phone version, but a printed one that I didnt know existed.
I won it on ebay and was the only bidder : $9.99 + shipping, and the seller even reimbursed me some as sending it was cheaper than originally planned. Cant complain !

I'm looking forward to showing my new (actually my wife's) P&J. I commissioned it months ago.

Don did a piece titled "Duma Key at Sunset". This piece is similar.

Not a great comparison, but one can see differences:

I was kinda luke-warm on DUMA KEY the first time I read it, but I have warmed to it in recent years.
That is an absolutely gorgeous piece.

There were so many good things about Duma Key...but dammit, he spoiled so much of it that I just couldn't enjoy it. Seeing this artwork only reinforces my disappointment - bah!

That's my favorite part. I had asked Mark to add a splash of color, and that's what he came up with.
