I don't normally do remarques, but have received this and the one from Vincent Chong, and they are great.

See how it could become quite addictive.

Received this a short time ago. Absolutely love it..

Shannon, you sir, should be making more of these. I know you have had a hard journey after this book, but I think it is excellent.

And my Remarque is out of this world!

This unexpectedly happened today. By sheer chance I was able to attend the IX Preview Weekend Pop Up exhibit at the Delaware Art Museum which is just minutes away from me. I was trying to purchase a Whelan "gemlin" last week at the exact time their site expired. By the time I got back in the site, the painting was sold. Audrey was super nice and offered me a piece he did today, and the paint is still wet. I thought this looked like a combination Dark Man/Young Roland and Michael said he had the Dark Man in his mind but it really didn't work out.

If anyone has suggestions on frame ideas, I would love to hear them.

Here are copies of the S/L editions of THE TALISMAN and BLACK HOUSE with matching numbers. I'm normally not a big numbers guy but I couldn't resist these with matching #1's. Besides being pretty cool (I think) I am hoping that if THE TALISMAN 3 is published as an S/L by Grant that I will be allowed to get the matching number.

I don't think I am up to the challenge. The Talisman and Black House #'s 1 just kind of fell into my lap. They popped up on ABE and I bought them impulsively. No number is really any more rare than another number but there is something about #1 that gives it a coolness factor that no other number can match.
I do think that if there is a Talisman 3 and if Grant is allowed to do an S/L that it will be marketed as a Talisman book and not necessarily as a DT book. I'm pretty sure that is how Robert did it with Black House although I freely admit that my memory is not 100% on that.

Picked this up last week for the hell of it.....DT Partial Set #31.

So......do I take the shrink off???? UGH!

http://i1221.photobucket.com/albums/dd470/avidkingcollector/IMG_4583_zps0v1i2ukf.jpg

"For the hell of it"...:scared:

Shrink off, every time... (Unless the plan is to resell within the next few months - or donate them to me - then keep shrink on please).

Agreed; take the shrinkwrap off. Paper needs to breathe, and if there was any humidity where it was stored previously, keeping the shrinkwrap on just traps the moisture and creates a breeding ground for mildew. (Don't ask me how I know :frown2: ) Plus, while there may be a number stick on the wrap, that doesn't necessarily confirm that that number is duplicated in the book (or if there are other problems, like uncut pages, bad binding issues, ink splots, etc.)...only a visual inspection confirms that.

I can't believe that the shrinkwraps adds much to the value in the long run (given that it can be added after-the-fact at any Kinkos or similar outfit), but it can ruin the value if moisture is trapped or if it is hiding other issues.

Not King but I've searched for this book for years!!
The one Joe Hill item I was missing.
Clackamas Literary Review from 2001 Volume V featuring Hill's story "The Saved".
The book eluded me for years and I knew a guy in the UK who would not sell his copy for $1500 or more.
Because I've never seen a copy so I tried to buy it. He changed his mind.
I found a copy on EBay-hard to believe- beautiful shape.
Incredible bargain also.
Arrived today. Excellent shape!

Ah! I'd forgotten about posting that...

Nah, turned out to be worthless. It was what looked like a 1st UK edition of the Shining. Saw it right at the end of the auction, no time for questions, from a seller who clearly didn't sell many books, so might not have known what they had. It was pennies, so worth a punt! :)

Turned out to be a BCE

There was an article by David McDonnell with the title "The once and future King" where there are some comments by King about that hypotetical sequel. Ben and Mark are living in England and they start to receive calls from his mother saying she's alive. And Callahan was in another city in USA and an almost-dead man approaches him and asks him to bless him. When Callahan tells him he's no longer a priest, the person tells him that it's not over in Salem's Lot.

Ari_Racing

Found it!

. . . I know what the sequel will be. It's just a question of when I find the time . . .

Should I give you a preview? Ben Mears and [Mark Petrie] are now living in England, where Ben is doing the screenplay to one of his books . . . [Mark's] in school. While Ben is in his studio, [Mark] comes home, makes dinner and begins to get calls via transatlantic cable - from his mother.

'I'm still alive . . .' she says. 'You must come back to the Lot . . . They're hurting me.' And eventually he does go back. Ben follows him.

Father Callahan will come back, too. He's working in a Detroit soup kitchen, and this dying bum comes in: 'Father, you've got to bless me.' 'I'm not a priest anymore,' he says. The bum is gugling out his last words, 'It's not over in Salem's Lot yet.' And believe me, it isn't! (52)²

Spring cleaning that included inventorying some of my SK items. I found this set about a decade ago and didn't think there were many collector's who had the #1 (or "A") of the deluxe edition and #1 of the numbered edition. I don't own a copy of the black I of XV edition. It's on the back burner of the bucket list, though. I hope that the pics are decent. I'll have more pics of signed copies that you don't often see very soon.

Good morning John.
The last thing I would want to participate in is Spring cleaning. However if it meant looking at copies like these I would gladly volunteer.
What a superb pair of books, an absolute pleasure to see them together. If these are in hiding to be discovered with the cleaning, what have you actually got on the shelves!!
Fantastic information.
Many thanks.

Yeah, I was referring to the signed version, which is limited to 100 copies, none of which were actually sold to the public, at least so far as I know. The regular FS edition is most likely going to be one of the cheapest "Limited" editions on the market.

I've no idea who is posting negative rep for this kind of crap, but if it means that respected collectors no longer post because of it, then lets just get rid of it. It serves no purpose, it pi$$es people off and the anonymity means there are no repercussions. It's tantamount to trolling IMHO.

Yes, the negative feedback feature should be removed. What's the point? If you can't say something nice then at least own up to it.

100% agree. I'm definitely not a fan of the anonymous feature.

I think you mean reputation....not feedback.

Folks:

I received the following bad reputation for my recent posting "Not cool posting "spring cleaning" in wrong thread." Not cool? OK, I'll stop posting because I don't want to post in the wrong thread. I don't post often so this won't be any loss and then...well, enough said.

I'll provide my personal e-mail address to a few people here and those who want to contact me may do so. WTH, here it is for those who want it jscheidegger2000@gmail.com. It's been real.

John

PLEASE SHUT THE REPUTATION COMMENT SECTION DOWN. Johhny007 I dont think you did anything wrong!

I like the rep feature, just not the negative rep. Can it revert back to the way it used to be with only positive rep?

Thanks for all the great comments on my new P&J! Now I just need to get a stand for The Stand, so that I can properly display it.
