http://www.thedarktower.org/gallery/data/500/thumbs/dorashirt.JPGTaDa the moment you have all been waiting for it's DADA Dora!

I was born on April 23, 1975 in Odessa, Texas, quite possibly the ugliest place on the face of the earth :cowboy:(Oil rigs and Horny toads) I grew up in Texas and California, moved to Colorado the day after High School graduation. I was the only child of very young parents as a result I have always been older than my years. I did very well in school. I love to learn new things and have an outstanding memory so school was extremely easy for me. Socializing has always been a little harder though, I can be painfully shy at times, ask Hannah and Aaron:unsure:But I'm working on that, lookit I'm doing this. When I was 22 and still living at home my dad died suddenly. That knocked me down hard and completely changed who I was. In December of 1997 at our company Christmas party Matt was standing and I was there, two worlds collided and we fell in love :huglove:. In August we will be married 10 years , absolutely the best 10 years of my life. We are almost done raising three wonderful kids and currently enjoying our first grandbaby!!! Hey wanna see a picture.

So I guess in a nutshell that's me to here. Fire away with your questions and I'll be happy to fill in the details.

did you ever think about visiting the real Odessa, the one at the shore of the Black Sea? That's unlike the one in Texas, is beautiful!

ha ha I know I say it louder, they were pretty fun to chase though and alot easier to catch than jack rabbits.

Thanks she is beautiful, I had a blast with her the last 2 weeks.

Nah, I think Matt put it in there for me, I'm going to try and come up with something on my own. I'm just lazy out here.

I have always wanted to visit the real Odessa. I hear it is beautiful, I used to pretend when I told people I was born in Odessa that it wasn't the one in Texas :P

Or, you could take a trip to Brighton Beach. It's closer, comparatively speaking, and you'll probably meet just as many Ukrainians.

I understand what it's like to be very shy. I was, and still am alot of the time. Was worse in highschool I had a hard time making friends I just wasn't comfortable around new people and was very quiet. Three years ago my uncle decided to visit some family in Belgium and I had mention how much I would love to go there someday. And my mom said you have to go with him you may never get another chance to go. So, I went and had a wonderful time, after being homesick the first night, and drunk almost every night for a week after (one huge party over there when anyone from here visits). After I came back home I was a different person. I'm not as shy anymore around new people and I even met my fiance, Harold, in line at KFC on my lunch hour one day, which is something I would have never done before. So, I guess for me all it took was putting myself into a situation where I had no choice but to live with people I hardly knew for 2 weeks to break me out of my shell, as my great uncle says.

I can't wait for Vegas either.

Is it a cop out to say I have a bright sunshiney personality, My best friend in high school actually started it and it just seemed to stick. I like it though it is so much better than Dorkey Dora... I hate that one! :nope:

I love to read in the bed all stretched out, rainy day makes it even better.

Hmm my three top books. Well I love Nora Roberts so anything she has written. I loved Piercing the Darkness by Frank E. Pretti and Super Fudge by Beverly Cleary.

I think by far my best vacation, was recently when Matt and I went to DC, we had such a blast.:couple:

My favorite band is Alison Krauss and the Union Station Band, I think her voice is magic.

Hi there!

I'm not sure how I got so lucky, I think Matt and I were just destiny and we had both had such a hard time of it that fate decided we deserved some happiness. I thank God everyday for him though he is truly a wonderful man.

Fall is the best time of year for me, I hate the extremes of winter...brrr and summer...burn.

Mint Chocolate Chip on a sugar cone, yum yum:drool:

I have always wanted to go to Ireland, I've said it before but something about that place calls to my soul.

I'm very much a morning person, but my favorite time of day is when all the stuff is done, and I can relax and hang out with Matt.

Oh and just to show what a dork I am.... I thought we were talking about my sig not my avatar:doh: so yes that one is legit.

Yikes I'm not sure, I haven't read alot of SK, but I guess I would have to say Song of Susannah.

I think I would like to have met Bobby Kennedy, I heard him speak recently on TV after MLK died and I thought he might have made real change given the chance. But if I thought a little harder about it I might come up with someone else....

My dream job would be a photographer for National Geographic, although I would always get in trouble for interrupting the circle of life, no way I could stand by and snap pictures of a little baby gazelle getting taken down by a lion.

Hands down I would rather be rich over famous, I like my privacy.

I am very very shy, but Matt does hog the computer, I have currently been pouting a whole lot to get my own.

I wasn't to crazy about the CD with Robert Plant, but then again I didn't even know who he was. I did snag a couple of songs off there though before I passed it off to my mom.

Steel Magonlias - seen it a million times still cry my eyes out.

I love iced tea and creamy, sugary coffee.

Well my Matty of course, my books would be Nora Roberts, Lovers and Dreamers and a really good joke book. My CD's would be Alison Krauss Lonely Runs Both Ways, Dixie Chicks Fly and Tracy Chapman New Beginnings. My food and beverage, Ice Tea, Dr. Pepper, Pringles and Turtles

Thanks Ricky for the fix, I totally missed that:lol:

I prefer black ink pens, I don't want you to know for sure if my signature is an original or a copy.

Favorite food, surf and turf... Matty style

Role Model, let's see, I think my dad. He was very smart and easy going, but I really look up to anyone that is able to overcome the diversity life throws at us and still be happy and upbeat.

Ya know I never have, it seems like a waste of soda but since I saw on Mythbusters that diet soda works best and I detest it, I just might have to give it a try.

Hi

Well crap I don't know I'm not crazy about either one, I'm still debating which is the lesser of two evils. Which I think is no way to vote, I wish I could feel really passionate about one of them.

I need to be the navigator, I have this awesome power, I do it best when my eyes are closed.

My sweetest memory, would be one Christmas, my mom and dad had separated for the millionth time and I had stayed with my dad. We always went to my Grandmas for X'mas eve and I had run back home for something. Sitting in the middle of the room was the coolest mountain bike. Well I snuck outta the house and back to Grandmas. When the party was over my dad was just dragging his feet behind to let me get in the house first so I could be surprised. How sweet is that.

Matt can snore sometimes, just like I think we all can, but mostly no he doesn't. I'm sure I make alot more noise than he does.

I sleep on my back like a mummy, which could explain why I snore...hee hee

My favorite pizza toppings are - pepperoni, black olives & mushrooms

Let's see favorite food was surf & turf so I'll tell you my favorite dessert - Cherry pie.

Favorite movie that I can watch over and over is a tie Steel Magnolias being 1st followed closely by Jaws

Favorite superhero ... The Incredibles, I think they're cool

I remember reading the Archie/Betty ones when I was younger but not since then, unless Matt leaves one on the back of the toliet.

I don't post such much because we only have one working computer at home right now and Matt is a post hog, I figure he does enough for the both of us :huglove:.

Wow, what a sweet thing to say. Thank you. I do need to come out more often, I'm having alot of fun answering the questions, I know it's mostly silly stuff but it is getting me to think about myself which is something I don't do often enough.

I always think this one is funny because I read once that your favorite color can be a representation of where you are in you life, and for the longest time mine was that deep dark cobalt blue but then it changed and now I'm drawn to yellow, bright sunshiney yellow.

My favorite flower is a Tulip

Favorite book... I didn't get it when I was little but it is a childs book, it is Guess How Much I Love You

Being a grandmommy is amazing, she is such a sweet wonderful baby. I think my biggest change is that I'm sillier around her, I really let my guard down.

Hello there, I'm well. How are you?

If I could move to another state, I would go to Oregon, although when Matt and I drove down to North Carolina we passed through the Smokey Mountains and they were beautiful, but I still think Oregon. It just has it all in my opinion, water, mountains, trees and rain.

alrighty I think I caught up with everybody, yeah I did it

What is the best book you ever read? (not necessarily your favorite)

What is your favorite movie?

What is you favorite memory?

If there was one thing you could go back and change, would you?

Let's see my worst quality, I think it would have to be my shyness, my unwillingness to let my guard down for fear of being judged or made fun of.

My best quality hands down is my capacity to love, and that I will stand under the most difficult circumastances no matter the cost to myself.

Best book the Bible, anytime I seem to be struggling it always seems to have the right answer for me.

My favorite memory was the night I met Matt, it was such a wonderful, special night.

There are always things we wish we could go back and change, but I believe who we are is shaped by our past so to change any one thing could possibly change the life you have now. Right now I am struggling with issues from my past but I love the life I have, so I'll just make my peace with them and accept that my life is unfolding as it should.

Dora
07-22-2008, 09:30 AM
oh and after I thought about it I would like to amend my answer to who I would like to go back in time to meet, I said Bobby Kennedy because I was really impressed with that speech I heard. But who I would really like to go back and meet was Lewis & Clark anytime I have traveled across country I have always imagined what it would be like to be there and to see it for the first time unspoiled by man.

What would be your dream job?

What is your most prized possession?

Same questions I asked Darkthoughts:

Where's the strangest/weirdest/wildest place you have made "whoopi"?

(BTW, on the Newlywed Show here, there is a famous clip where the wife says "in the butt").

You are a condemned prisoner, about to be put to death.
Your final meal allows an appetizer, an entrée, a dessert and a non-alcoholic beverage.
What do you choose?

Wildest, in the elevator at work.

That was either a "quicky", or you stalled the elevator.
P.S. Sure hope it was with Matt.:orely:

how often do you :ninja: log on as matt?
what is your biggest regret?
do you like chocolate?
does matt have a temper?
what is the easiest decision you've ever made? the hardest?
are you going to start coming here more often?

oh, and by the way? i believe if you check the records you'll find the proper terminology for matt is "postwhore" not "post hog". also, chatty bitch is acceptable. :) :wtf:

Waves back

I never log in as Matt, we use different browsers, so when I'm here I'm me.
My biggest regret is that I didn't have a better relationship with my dad.

I like chocolate but I'm more of a salty snacker.

Matt can have a temper when pushed to far, but mostly he is just a very easy going guy.

The easiest decision I ever made, marrying Matt, hands down. The hardest is one I'm making right now, and that is holding my mom accountable for my childhood even if that means never having a relationship with her again.

I'm going to try, I really don't have alot of time at work, I'm always on the run there, and we only have the one computer at home and Matt always has alot of technical stuff to do out here so that takes priority, but I am going to try.

Hi Erin!

Yes, I broke my left arm when I was 4.
I think it's interesting but I don't know that I truly believe.
I think the grossest thing I've ever seen, was when we found our cat up in the crawl space of our house after she had been dead awhile.:scared:

Patrick

Dora,

In Las Vegas they let you move about the giant casinos with an alcoholic beverage in hand.

What is, or what do foresee being, your "walking around" drink of choice?

Hi Patrick!

Well that first one is a toughie as I have no sense of smell, I think even though it's cheesy and corny like nachos I would love to know what Matt smells like.

And I'm planning on being a wild child in Vegas instead of normal do the right thing be a mom Dora so my drink of choice is going to Sex on the Beach.

And folks it is only 14 days thats right 14 days til Vegas I am so excited to see everyone that is able to attend. :excited:

I do believe in ghosts, I have never seen one other than my dad who visits me often in my dreams. I did feel the one in our house that Matt mentioned my instance was in the basement and I was really booking on the treadmill when I got the creepy crawly blast of cold air right up the back of me, I think I got a better workout getting upstairs than I ever have before.

What's your favorite dish to cook during the Thanksgiving/Christmas holidays?
Favorite to eat?
Does Matt have a signature dish that he makes for you?
Do you have one you make for him?
When one of your kiddos is sick, what's one motherly thing you do that has no other purpose but to comfort?
Favorite Lush product?

I hope none of these are repeats. I didn't read them all...I just saw that I hadn't posted in here and came rushing in.:panic:

pfft I've never done anything cruel in my whole life  Okay I'll own it in school, there was a girl I totally hated and I gave her laxative all wrapped up pretty in a hershey bar.
I think the kindest thing was fighting for my dads life when everyone else fled the room.
The cruelest thing ever done to me was my parents holding me down to wipe something on me they knew would make me vomit.
The kindest thing ever done to me was God bringing my sweet Matty into my life to love me forever.

I don't really have a favorite to make, I really love stuffing though. My all time favorite to eat is a roll with butter stuffed with turkey, dressing and a little bit of cranberry:drool:

Matt is such a wonderful cook but I love his surf and turf ... yum yum

okay this one is hard I don't really do anything special for them - but the kids are 15 & 17 so its hard to baby them, I check on them and bring them plenty of fluids and drugs, oh and I do their chores for them.

I have no sense of smell so Lush was lost on me, but I understand it is some great stuff.

I love to take a long hot bath, shave my legs and apply lotion to my whole body I can't smell it but it always makes me feel so smooth and soft.

When was the last time you smiled to yourself and what were you (specifically) thinking about to make it happen?

I like to think I bake well, Matt and others say my pecan pie is phenomenal,I like to do things from scratch I'm very good at following directions I'm all jazzed that I have a new oven so that maybe my cakes will stop being lop sided I'm pretty sure my last one was not balanced properly.

I smile alot so it's hard to nail down a specific, I am usally always thinking about my Matty and that is sure to bring on a smile - I know I know Gag but it's the truth people

If you could ask one question from God (if there is any) what would it be?

I do believe there is a God and I have often wondered what I would ask him upon reaching those pearly gates... it's always been a tough one because who am I to question the greatness of God, because I believe even the ugly of life has a greater purpose. For the longest time I was going to demand why my dad died so young when I still needed him but I think I've come to terms with that too and he had to go so the changes I needed to happen could. I guess if I go before Matt I'll ask him when is my soul mate joining me in paradise and then I'll ask for the nearest bench so I can paitently wait.

3. What gives you butterflies in your tummy?
4. What is the first thing you are gunna do when you see Lily (maybe) walk off the plane??
5. Can you pretty please make sure dad doesnt eat all the pecan pie so i can have a little?? cause you make it so delicious!
