:D
I was born on the 23rd November 1973 in Hexham, which is in the north of England. I'm the eldest of three, all girls. We moved down through England and Wales, until my family finally settled in the Cotswolds, in the south west.

I had a pretty idyllic childhood, my Dad is a social worker and has nearly always worked for specialist children's homes where the home/s are on a private campus, including grounds for staff housing. These places were generally in very rural areas and all had farms and plenty of play areas - so it was kinda like being in the Famous Five, lots of adventures and hearty picnics...we were just forced to let my littlest sister tag along instead of Timmy the dog.

I left home when I was 18. Mainly because we were living on one of these campus places, called the "Cotswold Community" and I didn't drive, so I was a bit cut off from my friends.
I'm pretty sure most of the staff had initially arrived expecting to take part in some kind of ongoing folk festival - as there were hand knitted rainbow jumpers, jesus sandals and vegans galore - they took social work on as a side line.
We had things called "gatherings" at various points in the year, where you'd turn up at one of the barns and everyone bought food and drink and instruments for the inevitable sing song. All very lovely, but to the 18 year old rock fanatic - slightly embarassing!

I moved out with some friends and had a blast for the next four years (sex, drugs and rock and roll), after which I moved back to a village near the Community and got together with my husband - 12 years later we have three children, one cat and live opposite a pub (rock and roll, beer and once every other month) :P

Education wise, I did well at school but lacked the motivation to stick at college - which I dropped out of twice. First time I studied French, English Literature and Art - second go I did Eng Lit, Art and Psychology.
College is something I think often of going back and redoing.

Wow! Multi quote madness!!

Nice to hear from you!! How are you today?
You too :couple: I'm good, it was sports day at my children's school, so I've been cheering all day :D

What is your profession?
At the moment I clean at the pub in the mornings and in the evenings I work behind the bar or in the kitchen cooking and also at the local shop.
I also have my artwork, painting murals (currently at the local school) which is potentially very good money - when Max starts school I'll be concentrating on making that my full time job.

Do you own a house or rent an apartment?
Own a house - my middle sister rents and her rent is as much as our mortgage...go figure!

Do you want more pets?
Well I still put "a pony" on my Christmas list at my parents house evey year
I've always wanted a dog (a husky, which would be named Ninook like Sam's dog in Lost Boys) but I don't think I could dedicate enough time to anymore pets right now.

What do you want to be when you grow up?
Dude, a rock star all the way!

Plain or peanut M&M's?
DEFINATELY peanut!!

what does your husband do?
He works in a stoneworks factory. They make bricks, slabs, garden stuff...he's on the production line and also drives a forklift. Crappy long hours and hard work, but he's stuck to find a more pleasant job for the same money.

how often do you go to London? is there any hope I'll see you there some day?
Very rarely - once a year perhaps? But my Dad goes twice a week on business, so its very easy for me to get there if I want/need to (need being a Bear meet up situation :couple: ) Also my Dad was born and raised in London and knows his way round, so I like to go with him. he even has a bear connection, having been born in Paddington :D

what, if any, if your favorite place in London? in Paris?
London...I'd say Camden, because I love markets. Paris...grrr, my trip to Paris was another story, I didn't get to see the parts I wanted so I can't say. But I will return without a doubt.

have you ever been in:
- York
- Edinburgh
- Norwich
- Salisbury
- Cambridge
- Oxford
- Canterbury
???????????
All except for Norwich and Canterbury...I don't remember most of those as I was very young when I went. I'm not far from Oxford though.

Whitley Bay or Tynemouth?
:D Whitley!!

are you a Manc or a wank? :P
The word wank will always be given preference over any other :P

What is your favorite movie?
I always feel I should say something really intellectual when anyone asks me this question, but its Stand By Me closely followed by Lost Boys.
Aside from enjoying the films themselves, it's very nostalgic whenever I watch them as I first saw them at a really great time in my life.

Do you plan on visiting the USA?
Absolutely! Money is the only thing standing in my way.

What is your favorite hobby?
Reading, art and walking.

What is your opinion on the English Royal Family - is it still relevant?
Imo, no! Thats a very emphatic no!! To me they are utterly redundant and a drain on our money. There are so many people acting as goodwill embassadors these days that the Royals wouldn't be missed.

What type of kid were you in the school? (shy, closed, friendly...)
Well, we moved alot and I went to alot of schools so I learnt to just mix in and get on with things. I really enjoyed school, but not for the social side, I just loved to learn. I was never one of the incrowd kids - not outcast, but definately came into my own socially at college (which coincided with the decline of my academic achievements :D )

What is your favorite non stephen king book?
I've been thinking about this the whole time I've been at work...and I can't say just one...I could maybe narrow it down to a top 20. So in my top 20 would definately be: Lord of the Rings - J R R Tolkien, The Cider House Rules - John Irving, The Crow Road - Iain Banks, Great Expectations - Charles Dickens, American Gods - Neil Gaiman, Prisoner of Azkaban - J K Rowling, Dracula - Bram Stoker... ah nuts, I'm even finding this hard!

What CD do you own that would be embarrassing if anyone found out?
Ok, come here...closer...closer...*whispers* NSYNC ft. Nelly - Girlfriend...don't tell ANYONE, ok?

What is your favorite color?
Blue.

What was your best vacation?
Oh crikey! Thats a tough one! Um...when I was 12 I won a competition to stay in Meyras, which is in the Ardeche in France, with 7 other English kids and 42 French kids for a month - no parents, just the staff of the huge place we stayed at.
It was so cool. We did stuff like building rafts, putting on shows, we got driven miles away from the centre in teams and had 3 days to find our way back to the centre (we had food, water, tents, a map and a cassette player with War of the Worlds which is awesomely spooky to listen to round a campfire at night.)
On our last day we had our own Olympic games, and Remy - the director, dressed as Zeus and carried a flaming torch down to the lake to start the games off...it was just amazing.

Have you ever met/seen anyone famous?
Yes, Rick Astley, Status Quo and Nick Heyward - all cringe worthy UK stars of the 80's - I was part of the "audience" at a kid's tv show for a day and we got to speak to them afterwards.

Who is your favorite super hero?
I'm an X-Men girl at heart (though I never have and never will watch the films), so it's Rogue and Gambit for me.
In a dis or dat over Supes and Batman though, I'd pick the Dark Knight everytime

Do you have a middle name? If so, what is it?
Michelle.

What is your favorite season?
Autumn.

When did you start painting?
Are we counting finger painting and general splodging around? If so then from the age of 2 onwards :D

What would you study if you went back to school?
French.

What's your favorite TV show?
Lost!!!!!!!!! Did you really need to ask? Seriously, I don't watch tv apart from Lost.

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
Probably somewhere in the Dordogne in France. I do love where I live now though, it's very beautiful.

What's your favorite junk food?
Fish and chips!

What type of car do you own?
Well, I don't drive - but our family car is a Chrysler Voyager.

Is hanging on in quiet desperation really the English way?For alot of the older generation I'd say, yes - Floyd's parents generation, I think my parents generation were the ones to start turning it around.

Does the rest of your family go for Liverpool, or are you the only unfortunate one?
 Actually, they go for Liverpool and I avoid football at all costs (which is very hard to do in my house.)

Interesting. Waters' lyrics certainly show he has a pretty low opinion of that generation.

Ok, here are some more for you...

I know that you play guitar.

What song/piece do you play that you are the most pleased with the way you play it?

Hypothetically speaking, if skill wasn't an issue and you could play any song on the guitar, what would you most like to play?

Do you play any other instruments? If not, what one would you most like to play?

Thanks for playing. :)

I don't think it can be completely held against them. WW1 shaped the way their parents raised them and WW2 happened while they were still of that mindset, and just reaffirmed all the values they'd been raised with. It's no surprise they found the children of the 50's and 60's frivolous - it's just a shame they couldn't let go, comprehend it and join in.

What song/piece do you play that you are the most pleased with the way you play it?
I know alot of guitar players who, when asked how well they play, answer "Not that well." And that is generally just them being modest. When I say it on the other hand, it's completely accurate and true :D Therefore I can hardly play anything, and the things I do play are very simple - out of those Half The World Away is probably my best one on the acoustic. On the electric I can bang out a ropey version of Jimi's Hey Joe, that my husband is able to recognise - so I'll throw that in too!

Hypothetically speaking, if skill wasn't an issue and you could play any song on the guitar, what would you most like to play?
I know that instantly - Nothing Else Matters - Metallica. Right now I can play the basic intro and thats it, it was the reason I started playing. There are much more accomplished songs I should choose, but thats my first aim.
Theres also a guitar solo in a song called In The Meadow, which is by All About Eve, that I love...I'd love to play that too.

Do you play any other instruments? If not, what one would you most like to play?
No, but I would love to play the flute and have been looking out for one to buy.

Thanks for playing. :)

Jean: is that Miche? or Mische? A friend of mine has that for a middle name :)

Misha or Mishka (first syllable stressed) as a term of endearment, Mihail (mee - ha - eel, the last syllable stressed) as a respectful name (it's Russian version of Michael), sometimes with the patronymic (Potapovich)

Why don't you drive?
I don't really know. I did ask for driving lessons on my 17th birthday, but didn't get any...I secretly think my parent's were trying to keep me off the road
I do have a tendancy to let my mind wander - my sister said that if I drove she'd ban me from having a car stereo, because I'd most likely get really into singing something and crash :D
It's something I keep meaning to do (drive, not crash! Although I have crashed a car before.)

Lisa: Besides your husband or parents, who would be the first person you would call in an emergency or if you were in serious trouble?
My best friend Stewie. He's a psychiatric nurse, so he deals with volatile situations everyday and can therefore be relied upon to keep his head and be practical. Also, he's always honest with me and I respect that alot :)

It was a perfect answer. :D

What was your biggest dream as a child?

Darkthoughts
07-15-2008, 12:38 AM
To see a fairy :D

When I was 6 the house we lived at had a copse (a small woods) at the bottom of the garden. I was convinced fairies lived in there and spent hours looking for them. I left sweets on tree stumps, bits of jewellery under bushes...all sorts to try and tempt them out of hiding.

I read a fairy tale where two children fell asleep in a forest and were taken away by fairies - so I tried that too...but nothing happened :D

However, I did receive my best compliment of all time when we did a play at my school that year, of the story The Elves And The Shoemaker. The headmaster was explaining the story to us and asked, "Does anyone know what an elf looks like?" then he called me up to the front of the class and said "This, is an elf!" and I was so proud

Letti

He was right.
And when did you stop wanting to see them? Or do you still dream about them?

Darkthoughts
07-15-2008, 01:04 AM
Absolutely, I think a part of us never grows up and somewhere we retain all those childhood dreams and thoughts.

It's something I love about Stephen King books, he is so able to tap into that.

Letti
07-15-2008, 01:06 AM
May I give you some advice? If you would like to see a fairy, just look into the mirror. ;)

What's your first memory?

Darkthoughts
07-15-2008, 01:40 AM
When we lived in Newcastle (until I was 3 years old), we lived in a block of flats that was on one of these children's home campuses.
I had a little plastic step to stand on so I could reach the sink when I brushed my teeth.
One day I got my Mum to take it outside, and I stood on it thinking I'd be able to see over the top of the flats.
Thats my earliest memory :)

Okay, how did you crash your car?
:D Well! I had only been seeing Rob for about 2 weeks and it was his car I crashed, part of him taking it so well was what made me decide he was the man for me
We were in the pub having a lock in (after hours drinking), playing poker. I was so drunk I fell off my stool and decided to go outside and get some fresh air. I went into the car park and decided I'd sit in Rob's car - I then noticed he'd left the keys in the ignition (honestly, you can do that sort of stuff where I live!) and thats when I had my bright idea:doh:
The previous night, I'd had a dream that I could drive and it was sooo easy! The dream came flooding back to me and I thought - perfect! I'll move Rob's car to a different space in the car park - and he'll be so impressed!!
Obviously, having the car in neutral instead of first gear would be second sense to a driver...I crashed straight into the pub...the end

okay, but it's not the end. did you actually crash into the pub? like through the wall or window or just run into it?
I crashed into the wall where a wooden cupboard was housed (on the outside) that contained the electric meter. I totally smashed the doors to pieces, but the meter was fortunately intact :D

if you could change one thing about your life what would it be?
Hmm, good question.
Um...I would wish that money wasn't such a priority for those around me. I know money is necessary, but I don't let it get me down when I have none. I have never had a credit card, and aside from my bar tab (which I pay on time all the time ;) ) I never borrow - if I don't have it, I go without. It saves stress, I can't stand money related arguments - they bring me down because its so materialistic.

what is your biggest regret?
I went out with a guy for 4 years when I left home, who turned out to be the biggest asshole in the world. I don't regret that I went out with him, because it taught me a lot about myself - but I regret all the opportunities I passed up on spending with my friends because of him.

what is your biggest triumph?
Giving birth, hands down - biggest rush EVER!

do you remember your first love?
Absolutely. We made mud pies together and had sword fights with sticks...y'know, the real thing :couple:

Thanks for that Tiffany ;)

where did the name Darkthoughts come from?
When I joined .net I had two usernames in mind - Bango Skank, which I was at another DT forum, or Towerjunkie. They'd both been taken. So I just kinda sat thinking about names that began with DT or Dark-something and Darkthoughts just came to me...I thought it suited me quite well, implying being preoccupied with DT

If you could live anywhere in the world, aside from where you live now, where would it be?
I was asked a similar question on one of the last pages and replied, the Dordogne in France. But, even though there are many places I'd like to spend a year or so in, I think eventually I'd always like to return to England - I love it here :)

What's your favorite time of day?
I like any time of day when I'm on my own - I have 3 children, so peace and quiet has become a novelty and I relish it when I get it.

If you could go back in time and watch one historical event, what would it be?
I would like to be able to attend a festival like Beltane in Celtic times. It was originally a Gaelic festival, I believe, but it was also celebrated by the Breton (in France), the Welsh and the Cornish - who were all Celts.
Most schools in English villages are CofE (Church of England) so Christian practises (such as prayer and hymns in assembly and prayer before meals etc) are compulsory. However, when I was at school we also celebrated May Day, with Maypole dancing and a May Queen, with all the other children dressed in animal masks - which strikes me as highly bizarre pagan behaviour for a CofE school  So y'know, I'd like to go back and see it done properly.

Say you're alone in your house; for whatever reason (fire, tornado, tidal wave), you have to rush out and you can only grab one thing.
What is it?
Ah crap...well, it'd have to be something irreplaceable wouldn't it - so as much as my first thought when I read this was "My books! My music!" they can be replaced, so I'll say my wedding ring - which I had made especially and to quite a non conventional design.

We've only talked a few times but you've made more than a positive impression on me. :harrier:
 Thanks :couple:

Which Lostie (character not actor) would you want to split a bottle with on the island?......and I mean, a one night (spare not a drop) bottle splitting.
Ha ha! Now you're talking!
Well, I'm tempted to say Sawyer, because people are more inclined to have casual sex with strangers when they're completely wasted
Locke is also a contender, because he's such an interesting character, but I believe that he doesn't have many answers - he's letting the island lead him - so it might not be worth plying him with alcohol and grilling him.

So I'm going to go for...Richard Alpert...that man is quite the enigma!

Do you sing in the shower? If so, what's your favorite shower song to sing?
I most certainly do! And it's The Rain Song by Led Zeppelin - I even do all the instrumental bits and everything :D

Mustard or mayo?
Mayo! I'm a mayo freak, I don't eat french fries without it :D

If they ever came up with a new version of that 7 Up series for your part of Great Britain, would you and/or your family want to participate?
Oh wow! Yes, I'd love to! I thought that series was amazing and such a great concept.
Don't know that it wouldn't depress me a little if I participated though. You have such fantastic hopes for the future as a child, I'm not sure I'd always like to compare the then to the now...you know, seeing the realization of adulthood dawning on you.

So, can you watch this online? I've only ever seen it on tv.

What is your favorite flower?
I love blue flowers, like cornflowers, because thats my favourite colour. But I'll always have a soft spot for daisies because they remind me of being a child.

What is your favorite candy?
Hmmm...I'm taking this very seriously...not sure if I can say only one sort!
There are these little hard gummy candies called Cherry Lips that I love! For US candy I'd say Cup O Gold - they are the shiz!!

Do you like serenades during dinner?
:D I've never been serenaded during dinner. I think I'd prefer eating and talking.

Do you kiss on the first date?
Hell yeah...and the rest!

Lights on or lights off?
Either, I'm a spur of the moment type person :D

What do you want for breakfast?
:D
 Monte, if you ever decide to adopt subtlety, I won't speak to you :couple:

(Bacon and eggs please!)

Do you collect anything?
Books and also, I have a small sticker collection happening on my art portfolio
case. It wasn't planned, it just happened - I'll take a picture when I find my camera!

What were your children's first words?
Sam and Max both said "Dada", but Ruby's was "bear" because she was completely mesmerised by Bear from Bear In The Big Blue House :D

Are you good at frying pancakes?
Yes! I can flip them and everything

Do you believe in fortune tellers?
It depends.
I do my own tarot readings and they've always been accurate. I've had them read by other people 3 times and had my palm read too. To me, its just an indication of the way your life is heading on the current path you are walking. But its all subject to change, which is why you should never forget that you always have a choice.

No worries, I had something to add that I added when you asked me the question :couple:

Do you have a favorite blues musician?
Well, you already know I like Robert Johnson  I also love Muddy Waters, Leadbelly, Howlin' Wolf... I also love when bands like Led Zep do a few blues turns, Since I've Been Loving You and When The Levee Breaks in particular...and leading on nicely into your next question...

Do you like Eric Clapton?
Yes, I love Eric Clapton! I thought he was at his height in the Cream days. Their rendition of Crossroads is immense, also Born Under A Bad Sign - excellent stuff.
I do like his solo stuff too, although my Dad is a bigger fan

Oh, I don't know. They show it on PBS, and I've seen it on DVD, but I don't know. I've seen snippets of it online, usually when it's being promoted on some other PBS program.

The ring is based on another ring I own that was made from a Victorian medicine spoon...I'll post a picture once I get some more batteries for my camera...the original ring however was made of copper, so it turned your finger green whenever you wore it!
A silversmith called Louise Parry made it.

Darkthoughts
07-17-2008, 01:01 PM
Max

For two reasons - he's such a meddler that he constantly ends up breaking stuff he shouldn't be touching in the first place - and the other reason is that Sam and Ruby would instantly admit it was them, even if they thought they'd get told off.

Pee standing up! It's been number one on my "what I'd do if I were a bloke for a day" list forever :D

Do you like giving advice?
I think everyone does, it's one of those slightly narcissistic human traits we all share.

What's the meaning of life?
42 ;)

I don't really think there is a meaning though, (imo) we're simply part of an ecosystem and that concept doesn't personally detract from my quality of life or enjoyment of it :)

Have you ever written a poem?
Yes. I won a poetry competition at primary school once :D It's not my forte, I've submitted a couple in Turtleback Lane though.

Do you find Roland (our dear gunslinger) sexy?
Absolutely!!!!!!

Did you use to have any bad habits you could get rid of?
I used to bite my nails when I was much younger - but stopped doing that. I smoke when I'm at the pub, I guess thats my only bad habit now.

Is there any newpaper or magazine your buy reguarly?
No, I never read newspapers or magazines - they're so full of bad news!

Have you ever met depression?
Yes, I think everyone gets depressed on quite a regular basis - whether it becomes an issue depends on our ability to cope with it or whether we have the support from others to cope with it.
Generally speaking, alot of aspects of adult life are very boring and repetitive, so its no wonder. But I think, if you let yourself appreciate very small things - such as sunlight streaming through your window when you wake up, or eating something tasty, or someone showing you courtesy - you can stockpile a sense of wellbeing that counteracts all the little stresses you also store up throughout the day.

What's the most stressful for you in your life?
I find being a mother quite stressful. I've been really irresponsible most of my life and also very spontaneous, so when I had children it was like..."whoa! I need routines and everything!" But I've gotten used to that, its more being someones role model that I find stressful, because you endeavour to only pass on your good traits even though its not possible to do that all the time.

Can you open your eyes under the water?
Yes, swimming underwater is my favourite part of swimming.

*looks at the questions* Yeah, I don't let you relax. :D
 I'm enjoying it :huglove:

Definately! Some films just have to be seen in the cinema, because they lose something on a tv screen - and I reckon this'll be one of them

Have you read any graphic novels?
Absofreakinlutely! :D

All The Sandman ones and some of the spin offs like Death: The High Cost Of Living, The Dream Hunters etc. Also, some of Gaiman's characters have been turned into separate stories, like Murder Mysteries and Lucifer by Mike Carey which is very good!

I have all the Tank Girl collections, plus classics like Watchmen, V For Vendetta, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, The Crow, Arkham Asylum and some random ones like Bluntman and Chronic, Hewligan's Haircut, Wolverine and Elektra...I think thats it...

What's your favorite Pink Floyd CD?

Probably Wish You Were Here, because it has Shine On You Crazy Diamond which is my favourite Floyd song ever!!
I also like the compilation A Delicate Sound of Thunder because it has a great mix of tracks.

Yum! What an excellent question!!

Appetizer: antipasto - I particularly like marinated roasted vegetables and artichoke hearts, I'd chuck in some buffalo mozzarella too.

Entree: over here an entree is another word for a starter/appetizer, but I'm guessing its the main course in the US? I'd have skate grilled with butter and capers and served with fresh buttered spinach. I'm not that fussed about potatoes, so I'd have freshly baked crusty bread as an accompaniment.

Dessert: Chocolate brownie sundae, with hot fudge sauce, whipped cream and Bailey's Irish Cream ice cream.

Non-alcoholic beverage: homemade lemonade with crushed ice.

You will probably have had Thornback Ray rather than skate. Everyone calls them skate, but that is a different species, which is massive. They can weigh 250 lbs and are much larger than a dinner table and are quite rare. Rays are much more common and smaller, typically 12-15 lbs.

Still tastes great though.

Actually skate are part of the family Rajidae, of which the Thornback Ray is a variety. The Pacific or Big Skate is the one that grows upto 8ft ;)

As far as rarity goes though, you're quite right. They've been overfished and some species are now under conservation.

I was solely (pun intended) a saltwater fisherman until I moved up to where I now live. I fished hundreds of competitions and won 3 caps fishing for Scotland.

I am now an old fart and just fish freshwater. I am also lucky enough to have a private trout lake, stocked with brownies and rainbows so I can legally fish every day of the year if I want.

:rose: :huglove: :rose:

What would you most like to be doing, right now?
I posted your care package yesterday, so what I'd really like to be doing right now is delivering it in person :couple:

...and I'd MOST like to be receiving it in person. :D

I'd also like a few of these :huglove::huglove::huglove: in person.

As a matter of fact, a lady phoned my father last week because her husband researches the Resistance escape routes of WW2 and had come across (don't ask me how!) my grandfather's MI9 interview sheet from when he got back into England...it's stamped with "Top Secret" and everything!

I'll phone my Dad and get the link to the site, I just saw a photocopied document, and I'll post it in here.
I can tell you what else I know, but I'll do it later I have to go out in a moment ;)

On a completely different subject:

What's the last thing you bought yourself just for fun?

I love that you've revivved everyone's threads  I think I'll follow suit!

Um, probably my new ipod...although, that was more of a necessary luxury as my other one broke. So apart from that, I bought a game for my ds called Pokemon Ranger  which is probably aimed at 12 year old kids! But if I complete it I'll get a rare pokemon that can be downloaded on to my pokemon Pearl game <-----geek

Jean, I've found the site - do you want me to post in here or pm you?

Ok, this is the main article on my Grandfather from the Gus Kuhn website, it links to some of the war info...I'll try and find some more stuff at my parents when I go there this evening...
http://www.guskuhn.net/GKuhn/Contemp/RudyKnight.htm

This is about one of the escape lines that he used:

I can't find the page with his M19 debrief, but my Dad has it, so I'll post that later.

The colours of Autumn are definately a favourite, but also rain...I love rain...and I enjoy the dark evenings at this time of year, although by January I've generally had enough
My birthday is in November too, so that was always my main highlight of the season when I was younger :D

This year Sam wants to be a zombie, Ruby wants to be a cat and Max was very specific - he wants to be a red dragon, with green flames!

Ok, same question for everyone today:

Yes, sort of.

I don't necessarily believe in them in the traditional sense, because I don't believe there is anything after death - so I don't follow the whole, souls in limbo, train of thought.
To me it's more an after impression, like if someone takes a photo with a flash and you can see the image of the flash even after its happened. Well, thats my take on visual ghosts anyway - but I do believe in memory having the ability to linger and thought having the ability to travel through time /space, which is how I account for my encounter...

...when I was about 19 my boyfriend committed suicide and the night after it had happened I had the most bizarre dream. In it, I was stood on the fire escape of a club we went to on the last night I was with him, watching some people brawling in the car park out back. I turned to my friend Kate to say, "Typical Friday night stuff!" and Gordy was stood inbetween us. I pretended he wasn't there and kinda spoke through him to Kate and he looked at me and said "That's a bit rude! Why are you ignoring me?" and I was like "...er...you're dead!?" He replied that he just wanted me to know that he hadn't wanted to upset anyone, but that he didn't feel like there was anything else he could have done. Then he said "And I just wanted to say goodbye." I turned away and then when I looked back, he was gone and Kate was just staring at me open mouthed and said, "Was that...?!"

I woke up straight away and was somewhere between being totally freaked and kinda relieved.

Literally from the moment I picked up a crayon :D My Mum said I was the bane of her life once I got started, because if I ran out of paper I'd just draw on the walls

I'm sure you could be right, I didn't put across very well in my post the feeling that I had when I woke, that it hadn't simply been a dream, or a normal dream.

What is the cruelest thing you've ever done?
Hmm, there are two things that always come to mind...I guess everyone's idea of "cruel" is different...firstly I had a French friend come to stay with me when I was 15. She came into town with me on a Friday night and I totally abandoned her in the middle of this big park while I went and made out with my boyfriend   It sounds kinda funny written down like that, but she was mortified and I felt awful afterwards, because she'd really looked after me when I was at her house.

Second thing was when I was about 21 or so. I dumped the guy I was going out with for a total asshole...there's alot more to the story, but I always feel bad about it because he was so good to me.

What is the kindest thing you've ever done?
I have no idea  Um...I had a boyfriend (wow, sounds like I had alot of those ) who was really into mountain biking and used to compete at downhilling and stuff. He went to this competition one Sunday that was 20 miles away, but as neither of us drove he had to cycle there. His family lived in the same town but were a real bunch of shits and never went to support him in any of his comps, so after he left I cycled the 20 miles to surprise and watch him. He was really chuffed about that, so I guess that counts :)

What is the cruelest thing ever done to you?
Just about everything that happened during the time I went out with the asshole guy in the first question!

What is the kindest thing ever done for you?
I'm actually a real softie about stuff like this, so I could name any number of things...the time I'd mentioned a really obscure book I loved to my room mate when we were drunk, and months later she gave it to me as a gift for my birthday - I was so touched that she'd remembered! Likewise when I used to talk about this really cool little pub in the middle of nowhere that I always used to pass on journeys, but had never been to...and my friend Wickham came and picked me up and took me there out of the blue when I was really down

Little things like that, where people remember something you've said and act on it without any prompting :rose:

Oh, and in England do you call your panties "pants"? If so, then does that make a pair of pants "trousers"?

The Urban Dictionary describes them as "generously proportioned underwear" - basically its pants/briefs that are big enough to catch apples in :D

Pants is one of my favourite words! Yep, over here pants are any butt covering type underwear male or female. Otherwise known as knickers, keks, y-fronts, skiddies, briefs...most people call 'em pants though. And trousers are what you guys'd call pants.

Pants is also a word in its own right over here like "crap" or "rubbish", like if you watched a really crap film you'd say "That was pants!" or if its raining you might say "The weather is really pants!" :D
