Howdy friends 'n' neighbors!

I've finally gotten a few of my friends into Stephen King, and my big brother is just about to tackle "The Stand." He loves reading with music, so I suggested music that fits with the themes of the music. I'd like to compile a playlist for him, using songs that a.) are used in the book, or b.) which you think fit the mood of this novel perfectly. Feel free to add to the list:

1.) Jungleland by Bruce Springsteen
2.) (Don't Fear) the Reaper by Blue Oyster Cult
3.) Baby, Can You Dig Your Man by Self
4.) Boogie Fever by the Sylvers
5.) Keep on the Sunny Side by Mother Maybelle Carter
6.) American Tune by Paul Simon
7.) Back in the U.S.A. by Chuck Berry
8.) Cadillac Ranch by Bruce Springsteen
9.) Racing in the Streets by Bruce Springsteen
10.) Subterranean Homesick Blues by Bob Dylan
11.) This Land is Your Land by Woody Guthrie
12.) Stand by Me by Ben E. King

Great playlist.
FYI, there is a thread in The Forge dealing with Dark Tower playlists and S. King songs. This thread may be merged there with a brief redirect.
Great Idea.
Thanks,

Jerome

I'd have to add Amazing Grace to that list. Whenever I hear it I think about the part where Fran (I think it is) sews the bag around her father. Don't remember if it's in the book, but in the movie she's singing it while she's doing it.

When Trascan man catches a ride out to L.V. (most details are in the unabridged version) I keep hearing "Radar Love."

(Ain't that right Happy Crappy?)

At any point with R.F. in the shot I'm thinking "Jesus Christ, Superstar."
