Matt
07-16-2007, 12:08 PM
You got it Darkthoughs!!

**passes the feather**

Darkthoughts
07-17-2007, 06:39 AM
Brilliant!!! I never get these things!!

Ok - where did Pimli Prentiss originally come from?

Rahway, New Jersey?

Dude - that was quick! Take the feather my friend :)

Daghain
07-17-2007, 08:30 AM
Man, by the time I get in here to read the question.... :)

Wuducynn
07-17-2007, 09:02 AM

What do we learn may be the name of the Fish Guardian? It is the only hint we get of what this Guardian's name might be in the series.

Chassit
07-17-2007, 09:12 AM
Perhaps I am confusing pantheons but was it piscio?

XIX

No, good try though.

Wuducynn
07-17-2007, 10:24 AM
Just so you know this is from a scene in the Dark Tower books 1-7 or LSOE but not the comics or connected novels.

Matt
07-17-2007, 10:29 AM
I am thinking that it was mentioned at the meeting between Roland and TMiB at the end of the first book?

Not that it is an answer of course, but I thought he ran through them towards the end for some reason.

Wuducynn

*knocks the icesicle off of Matt's nose* You're cold...Empathica cold..

Matt
07-17-2007, 10:43 AM

Well there you have it.

Daghain
07-17-2007, 01:48 PM
Back to the concordance....:D

Wuducynn
07-17-2007, 01:51 PM
Remember this is an allusion to the name. The only allusion to its name too. The Fish is not named for sure, in the whole series.

Chassit
07-17-2007, 01:54 PM
Back to the concordance....:D

Damn I need one of those....

XIX

Wuducynn
07-17-2007, 01:56 PM
The Complete Concordance is wonderful.

Daghain
07-17-2007, 03:51 PM
Okay, taking a semi-stab in the dark here.

Delight?

Wuducynn
07-17-2007, 03:54 PM
:o

****BIG ROUND OF APPLAUSE FOR DAGHAIN****

Daghain
07-17-2007, 03:55 PM
Yay!!!!!!

See, I TOLD you the concordance is a good book. Y'all didn't really think I was that smart, did you? :D

Wuducynn
07-17-2007, 03:57 PM
I did. Also, sometimes even the concordance isn't always helpful if you ask an obscure enough question and I wasn't sure if this was one of those. I am impressed.

Daghain
07-17-2007, 03:59 PM
Well, it DID take me a good 20 minutes of research lol. And, it was still part guess. I knew it was what was written on the fish statue in Lud, but I wasn't sure that was the info you were looking for.

See that English degree did pay off. I can research with the best of them. :D

Question is coming!

Wuducynn
07-17-2007, 04:02 PM
I'd be interested to learn if that is actually The Fish's name or title or it just has to do with something entirely different. Look forward to your question as always.

Daghain
07-17-2007, 04:08 PM
I wondered when I read that too. I can't imagine what else it would be, but I think it's kind of a weird name for a fish, lol.

I'm going to up the ante with this one (I hope):

What is the legalistic euphamism for rape and where (as in location) is this term used?

I'll be back in an hour or so. Talk amongst yourselves and try not to miss me too much.

Wuducynn
07-17-2007, 04:14 PM
Distressal of a Lady and in Eluria?

Daghain
07-17-2007, 05:17 PM
Well, so much for thinking that was a hard one.

You have the feather, my pet. :huglove:

Wuducynn
07-17-2007, 09:08 PM
That was a great question Daghain. We miss you over at the DT.Net by the way...

I'll do an easy one..

Who was from Sonesh?

Daghain
07-17-2007, 09:41 PM
Yep, been busy with school. That's over on Monday, though!

You have thwarted both my booksearch and concordance searches.

I'll take a WAG at it -

Irene Tassenbaum?

*goes back to look for the real answer*

Wuducynn
07-17-2007, 09:47 PM
Irene Tassenbaum?

No.

Daghain
07-17-2007, 10:00 PM
Damn. Back to the books. :)

Daghain
07-17-2007, 10:07 PM
GOT IT!!!

Tassa was from Sonesh!

You made me work for that one!

Wuducynn
07-18-2007, 05:21 AM
GOT IT!!!

Tassa was from Sonesh!

You made me work for that one!

Great job as usual!! I didn't think it was going to be that hard of a question!

Daghain
07-18-2007, 06:30 AM
Neither did I.

Here you go:

Who has the head of a stoat, and where is he from?

Chassit
07-18-2007, 06:59 AM
Lamla of Galee

XIX

Daghain
07-18-2007, 07:18 AM
The feather is yours, Chassit! :D

Chassit
07-18-2007, 07:53 AM
I never get these right, hehehe!

What was the name of the horse that Roland rode into Eluria?

XIX

Daghain
07-18-2007, 07:56 AM
Topsy?

Wuducynn
07-18-2007, 07:56 AM

07-18-2007, 07:59 AM

Wuducynn
07-18-2007, 08:00 AM

Chassit
07-18-2007, 08:01 AM
Topsy?

I was hoping it would be harder than that LOL

XIX

Wuducynn
07-18-2007, 08:06 AM
Bring it on Daghain!

Daghain
07-18-2007, 08:09 AM
I'll throw you a softball, CK. :)

Who was master of "the kill"?

Wuducynn
07-18-2007, 08:12 AM
ME a softball? I'm not the only one who takes part in this thread you know? :P

Elmer Chambers

Chassit
07-18-2007, 08:15 AM
Nice heheh

Daghain
07-18-2007, 08:17 AM
Yeah, I know you're not the only one, but I also knew you were sitting right there waiting for a question

You have the feather, CK. :)

Wuducynn
07-18-2007, 08:22 AM
Another easy one...

What did Stephen King think the Crimson King wanted to turn him into and for what reason?

Daghain
07-18-2007, 08:27 AM
Ooh, drawing a blank on that one. Chassit, where are you?

Wuducynn
07-18-2007, 08:37 AM
**Even though there is no time limit, adds the sound of a ticking clock for dramatic effect**

**Hushed golf announcer voice** Can Chassit find the answer to All_hail's initially seemingly easy question? Why am I talking this low?

Daghain
07-18-2007, 08:43 AM
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

Chassit
07-18-2007, 08:58 AM
I am here trying to remember..is it a catfish or was that from Insomnia?

XIX

Wuducynn
07-18-2007, 10:27 AM

XIX

That was what the Crimson King looked like to Ralph Roberts in Insomnia.

Chassit
07-18-2007, 10:52 AM
Yeah ok...

XIX

Wuducynn
07-18-2007, 02:29 PM
Re-posting the question -

"What did Stephen King think the Crimson King wanted to turn him into and for what reason?"

Mordred Deschain
07-18-2007, 03:21 PM
Here's a shot....
I thought the Crimson King wanted to kill Stephen King so he wouldn't finish the story, so Roland would not win.

Wuducynn
07-18-2007, 04:13 PM
Here's a shot....
I thought the Crimson King wanted to kill Stephen King so he wouldn't finish the story, so Roland would not win.

Thats true of course, but not the right answer to this question.

Daghain
07-18-2007, 04:14 PM
Well, I'm pretty sure I can bat 500 on this one:

He wanted to make King a bard of the Outer Dark, presumably so King would serve the Red instead of the White

Mordred Deschain
07-18-2007, 04:14 PM
DAMN!! crap, I'm moving and all my books are packed!!

Daghain
07-18-2007, 04:17 PM
:D

Mordred Deschain
07-18-2007, 04:20 PM
I knew where to look too!!!

Wuducynn
07-18-2007, 04:21 PM
Well, I'm pretty sure I can bat 500 on this one:

This is true too, and so close but it's something more specific than that I'm looking for. Los wanted to turn King into something according to King. Something that is mentioned quite a bit in the Dark Tower series at various points.

Daghain
07-18-2007, 04:22 PM
Picky.

I'll go look again.

Daghain
07-18-2007, 04:25 PM
Vampire?

Wuducynn
07-18-2007, 04:26 PM
Vampire?

Yes!

Mordred Deschain
07-18-2007, 04:27 PM
Oh...FU....

Daghain

Wuducynn

What is the word for someone that can convince others to do dangerous things and is also a word for painful disease generally?

Wuducynn
07-19-2007, 01:19 PM
Damn and I thought Daghain would be ALL OVER this one!

Mordred Deschain
07-19-2007, 01:20 PM

Wuducynn
07-19-2007, 01:24 PM
Assuming you're serious with your post..definitely not. This is a Mid-World word. If you're not then never mind and yes cute post.

Mordred Deschain
07-19-2007, 01:28 PM

Wuducynn

Daghain
07-19-2007, 01:55 PM

Chassit
07-19-2007, 02:18 PM
Yeah I am clueless on this one...

XIX

Daghain
07-19-2007, 03:24 PM

ZoNeSeeK
07-19-2007, 07:53 PM
Egh, i cant find the answer either ;)

Daghain

CK, maybe a hint???? :D

Wuducynn
07-19-2007, 09:22 PM
Well, I feel MUCH better now. :)

CK, maybe a hint???? :D

This is a word that we hear in the Callas.

Daghain
07-19-2007, 09:32 PM
Well, yay. I've been looking in the concordance there. Sigh. Back to the drawing board.

This is driving me crazy!

Daghain

Wuducynn
07-20-2007, 03:00 PM

Daghain
07-21-2007, 04:40 AM
Zone, we need a question, man. :)

ZoNeSeeK
07-21-2007, 07:04 PM
o yeah :)

Where are the titanium Oriza plates made?

Mordred Deschain
07-22-2007, 07:25 AM
was it the Northern Callas by machines that still work?

Wuducynn
07-22-2007, 12:37 PM
was it the Northern Callas by machines that still work?

I think it's a specific Calla he's looking for the name of...

ZoNeSeeK
07-22-2007, 01:28 PM
Yep, the specific one :)

Mordred Deschain
07-22-2007, 01:59 PM

Wuducynn
07-22-2007, 04:49 PM
**DING** Good job Matt.

Matt
07-22-2007, 05:19 PM
Should I probably go on? I am sure that is it

Wuducynn
07-22-2007, 05:55 PM
We both are. I say post your question.

Matt
07-22-2007, 05:56 PM
Who was described as...

"loose as a trundle of laundry"

Wuducynn
07-22-2007, 05:59 PM
Herkimer Avery

Matt
07-22-2007, 06:00 PM
That's it, your go Matthew :D

Wuducynn
07-22-2007, 06:00 PM
I'm sorry it took so long Matt.

Wuducynn
07-22-2007, 06:17 PM
What smell reminded Roland of begging early in the morning in the kitchens as a child and what kind of food did this smell remind Roland of?

Mordred Deschain
07-22-2007, 06:22 PM
Muffin balls...right...seriously?

Wuducynn
07-22-2007, 06:22 PM
No.

Mordred Deschain
07-22-2007, 06:27 PM
damn, I was trying to be serious too!! I bug you don't I? :)

Wuducynn
07-22-2007, 07:10 PM
Hunh? I was taking you seriously and no, you in no way possibly bug me. Where would you get that idea? It takes a lot to bug me and you would know quickly if you did.

Daghain
07-22-2007, 07:15 PM
Geez, I've been missing some good ones in here. :)

ZoNeSeeK
07-22-2007, 07:22 PM
Hrm, was it bagel vendors in New York? reminded him of bread?

Wuducynn
07-22-2007, 08:52 PM
Hrm, was it bagel vendors in New York? reminded him of bread?

No.

Wuducynn
07-23-2007, 06:07 AM
Although, Zone, you were warm with part of your post.

Chassit
07-23-2007, 07:13 AM
Was it baking bread?

XIX

Wuducynn
07-23-2007, 07:27 AM
No, but remember this is a two-part question - "What smell reminded Roland of begging early in the morning in the kitchens as a child and what kind of food did this smell remind Roland of?"

"Bread" or "baking bread" is very warm for the second part of the question.

Wuducynn
07-23-2007, 07:30 AM
I'll give hints - What Roland is smelling is very important to his survival but is not what it smells like to him. So he thinks it smells like a particular food item but it is not that food item.

ZoNeSeeK
07-23-2007, 08:26 PM
Is it gunpowder or guns in Balazar's office?

Daghain
07-23-2007, 08:32 PM
Damn, this one is tickling the back of my memory, but I'm coming up with nothing. :(

Wuducynn
07-23-2007, 08:44 PM
Is it gunpowder or guns in Balazar's office?

Sorry, Zone. That is a good try though.

Wuducynn
07-23-2007, 08:47 PM
Remember, there is what he is actually smelling and what it smells like to Roland. Two different parts of the question. Also what he is smelling is something that saves his life. I'll give another hint..he eats this to save his life.

Daghain
07-23-2007, 09:00 PM
I'm guessing he smelled the Lobstrosities cooking, but damned if I know any more than that. :)

Wuducynn
07-23-2007, 09:01 PM
No.

Wuducynn
07-23-2007, 09:06 PM
Okay I'm practically giving this away now...

This thing that Roland ate saved his life by keeping him awake..

Daghain
07-23-2007, 09:09 PM
Mescaline? Still don't know what it would remind him of, though.

Wuducynn
07-23-2007, 09:18 PM
No, not the mescaline that put him into a dream-like trance state.

Daghain
07-23-2007, 09:25 PM
*waves white flag*

I can't get it. I bow to your greatness lol.

ZoNeSeeK
07-23-2007, 09:52 PM
Susan Delgado's Minge?

Aaron
07-23-2007, 11:07 PM
It was the reeds that Sister Jenna put under his pillow in LSoE. And they reminded him of burnt toast.

Rhea the Coos is mentioned in a non-Dark Tower novel under a different, although similar, name. What is the novel and what is the name?

Wuducynn
07-24-2007, 05:28 AM
It was the reeds that Sister Jenna put under his pillow in LSoE. And they reminded him of burnt toast.

Great job Aaron!!

Daghain
07-24-2007, 07:00 AM
I never would have gotten that one. I'm really not up on LS0E. I need to reread that one. :)

ZoNeSeeK
07-24-2007, 03:34 PM
She is mentioned in The Eyes of the Dragon as 'Rhianna of the Coos', a story mothers tell to scare young children.

Wuducynn
07-24-2007, 09:07 PM
Post a new question.

ZoNeSeeK
07-24-2007, 09:25 PM
im pretty sure thats right (and crimson king is the trivia vault), so here we go:

What do the Manni call Discordia? (or the Prim)

Aaron
07-24-2007, 09:46 PM
Ye say true.

Chassit
07-25-2007, 07:34 AM
I am guessing Todash...

XIX

ZoNeSeeK
07-25-2007, 04:15 PM
Nope, sorry :)

I have edited to make it a little clearer

Daghain
07-25-2007, 04:32 PM
The Manni call it The Over.

I know, where is Zone?

Daghain
07-27-2007, 06:49 PM
Since Zone seems to be MIA, if anyone can verify my answer I'll post a new question. :)

Matt
07-28-2007, 04:48 AM
I couldn't find it under the "discordia" entry in the concordance. Is that where you saw it Daghin? I can look it up.

Daghain
07-28-2007, 05:57 AM
Look under the Prim, I believe that's where I found it. I'm pretty sure it was under the Manni Argot, anyway.

Matt
07-28-2007, 06:11 AM
Over, The:

This is the name for one of the gods of mid-world, specifically the one worshiped by the Manni. The other names for the Over are The Force and the Prim.

Sounds like the right answer to me.

Daghain
07-28-2007, 06:37 AM
Well, I'll post a new question just so we don't all get bored. If Zone comes back, he can repost his question if I'm wrong.

Here's an easy one:

What is another name for the Breakers?

I'll be back in a couple hours to see if anyone gets it. :)

Wuducynn
07-28-2007, 09:31 AM
The Prim is often called the Greater Discordia. So I think thats what Zone was asking for.

Matt
07-28-2007, 09:33 AM
I packed my book for the trip so it sounds like The Prim was known as a lot of things.

Wuducynn

Morks

Matt
07-28-2007, 09:44 AM
That was what I thought too but when I read it, I got the impression that was a Ted thing that meant they were mostly reclusive in the real world.

Not about being breakers...so I wasn't sure.

Mordred Deschain
07-28-2007, 10:01 AM
People with special abilities....

Matt
07-28-2007, 10:03 AM
I think Morks is probably what she is looking for. :D

Mordred Deschain
07-28-2007, 10:05 AM
I know...I just searched all over the net for an answer and I couldn't find any other reference. Kind of ashamed of Wiki. I guess I souldn explain if no one has picked up on this, but I'm kind of a joker. Anti-serious supporter.

Matt
07-28-2007, 10:08 AM

me too

That was what I thought too but when I read it, I got the impression that was a Ted thing that meant they were mostly reclusive in the real world.

Not about being breakers...so I wasn't sure.

There was a part where Ted says that Dinky named them Morks or someone did after Mork and Mindy and that it caught on.

No, and I'm looking for two names with this question and why "the Derva" was brought up.

Nigel the robot told Susannah, I believe, that the reason the Fedic Dogan is deserted is because most of the workers moved on to the Derva. He couldn't tell her any more because the rest was classified.

Are you sure. Well, he told Roland (and the rest) that Black 13 was in the church before they got there. But he didn't want to talk about it at night. Or did he not want to tell his story at night?

MonteGss
08-01-2007, 08:51 AM
What did Father Callahan not want to tell Roland and his ka-tet about during the night-time?

Callahan actually did say he would not speak of Black 13 (and his story) at night but I am sure the answer you are looking for CK is the fact that he would not speak of "the King," meaning the Crimson King and his todash trip to his castle. :)

Do I say true, sai Shit-Head? :P

Parkus speaks of the The Age of Poisoned Thought during his palaver with Jack and Sophie in the borderlands and it is the period of time of around two hundred years when telekenetics and psychics have become plentiful in our level of the Tower.
