Oh thanks, now I have to come up with a question....

Daghain
06-14-2007, 07:18 AM
Okay, here you go:

Who got killed on his birthday?

Matt
06-14-2007, 08:27 AM
Rolands Dad?

Jean
06-14-2007, 08:52 AM
Winston

Daghain
06-14-2007, 09:13 AM
You get a gold star for the day, Jean, and the feather. Nice job! :)

I got a star from Irish Dawn! http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k291/mishemplushem/Facilitation/bear_wub.gifhttp://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k291/mishemplushem/Facilitation/bear_wub.gifhttp://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k291/mishemplushem/Facilitation/bear_wub.gif

Next Question:

who was buried under a chickenhouse?

Daghain
06-14-2007, 09:54 AM
Wow, you really have a picture for everything, don't you. :D

I know this one, but I can't think of the guy's name. Rats!

Tvmorbid
06-14-2007, 09:58 AM
Was it Andy the Messenger Robot (many other functions)?

Jean
06-14-2007, 10:00 AM
no, Tvmorbid, it was the guy Daghain http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k291/mishemplushem/Facilitation/bear_wub.gif is thinking of... Hint: there's a reason why you can't think of his name. A brief description of the circumstances will do. http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k291/mishemplushem/Facilitation/bear_original.gif

Daghain
06-14-2007, 10:06 AM
I wondered if the guy even had a name. :)

It was a guy who went to see Balzar, said something Balzar didn't like, and Balzar shot him. Cirri and another guy buried him under a chicken house, because Balzar wanted the guy buried somplace where he would eternally get what's coming to him. :)

Jean
06-14-2007, 10:14 AM
right! he did something worse than just saying something Balazar didn't like (can you remember what?) but essentially it is absolutely correct! http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k291/mishemplushem/Facilitation/0134-bear.gifhttp://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k291/mishemplushem/Facilitation/0134-bear.gifhttp://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k291/mishemplushem/Facilitation/0134-bear.gif

Okay, here's a softball for you:

What airline was Eddie flying when Roland first came into his head?

Spencer
06-14-2007, 11:08 AM
What was the expletive that Pat Delgado was most fond of?

Horseshit?

He was simply called "The Mick".

ZoNeSeeK
06-14-2007, 03:16 PM
Yeah, he coughed or banged the desk or did something on purpose to ruin Balazar's card tower. Darwin award!

MonteGss
06-15-2007, 05:25 PM

Walter Brennan.

MonteGss
06-17-2007, 03:38 AM
Who threatened to fill Grand Army Plaza with dead bodies and why?

I guess I can peek in to answer...seeing that I just listened to this two days ago. Eddie was the person who said this. He was trying to make it clear that if Balazar didn't leave Calvin Tower alone, he and the tet would kill all of Balazar and company's families, enough to fill Grand Army Plaza.

I like feathers, they're soft.

What item did Eddie once lose at Coney Island?

Wuducynn
06-17-2007, 04:24 PM

Eddie lost Charlie the Choo-Choo ?

MonteGss
06-18-2007, 03:14 AM
Sorry Zone, that is not the answer I am looking for. The item Eddie lost is related to another which Susannah has near her heart. :)

Wuducynn
06-18-2007, 08:10 AM
I remember Eddie talking about losing something at Coney Island but I can't remember what it is and I couldn't find anything about it on every single internet I searched...so I'll guess a ring?

Chassit

Actually, as I recall it came up in DOTT...But I have read The Gunslinger, DOTT and am a third of the way through The Wastelands all in about the last week...

CK is correct. It is mentioned in SoS. Eddie is mourning the "loss" of the ring he gave to Susannah (Mia threw it on the ground) and he remembered his class ring. Nice guess CK! ;)
Feather falls to you.

Where is a wandering minstrel from the South Plains met? What happens to him?
They met him in Lovell on Route 7, and you are referring to Chevin of Chayven, a former minstrel of the South Plains. In regards to his fate, he was introduced to the clearing at the end of the path via a slug to his forehead, curtesy of old long, tall, and ugly.

I'll try and name 'em all. Here we go:
Roland Deschain
Alaric Deschain
Henry Deschain
Steven Deschain
The Crimson King, The Red King, Lord of the Spiders, Los the Red, Lord of Discordia (happy now CSH ;))
Mordred Deschain
Did I leave one out CSH?

I will post a new question shortly, but since you brought this topic up, I had a question on my mind. Both Henry and Alaric were said to be Roland's Grandfather. Was one actually the great-grandfather? I have looked for this but can't find clarification, they are both mentioned as his Grandfather in the text as far as I can see.

Henry Deschain is listed as Roland's paternal Grandfather in the Concordance. Also, in the new version of The Gunslinger we are told that Roland's maternal Grandfather was called Alan Veriss. This is just a continuity error that bugged me and I haven't found an answer other than it is just that, an error.

That's a good point Monte. That's a possible explanation. I can't remember Great-Grandfather being used in reference to anyone in Roland's bloodline. I do, however, remember Walter using the term Great-Grandfather during their palaver, when he was referencing the Great Old Ones and the things that they created.

Has this got anything to do with devar-toi ? i.e. something the breakers are creating? Or is it just a term for like a general malaise?
This has nothing to do with Devar-Toi. The term I am looking for is the name of an actual substance.

Yes, it does have something to do with the Great Old Ones. I believe you have what I intended in mind CK. ;)

Okay, I have a question to this question and answer. Not that it's a big deal or anything, but is the WHERE Calla Bryn Sturgis? Because Roland knows the story of the Lady of the Dish, and I think it's more of a mythical story and the exact where isn't the principal of the story, it's the ethical or moral part of the story, just like the old testemant. It's just like when you hear the story in Mejis about the two lovers. All the Baronies have the same story, it's just told to fit the geography and community.

Good answer but, my question was worded a bit trickily. I won't be picky since the game is moving along already, but I had asked how many doses not packages. You were very damn close though and deserved the feather. :D

Most likely you read:

A few personal things—there was a bottle of suppositories, a copy of a blearily printed magazine called Child's Play (the cover depicting two naked girls of about eight engaged in a soul-kiss) . . . and eight or ten sample packages of Keflex.

but, also needed this quote from later in the book to find out how many doses.

There had been nine sample bottles of Keflex in the secret compartment of Enrico Balazar's medicine cabinet, thirty-six doses in all, and he had felt well again.

The year is correct. If one looks closely, the answer is there. As a hint, you all must remember that Susannah's world was Keystone Earth, not an alternate world, like Jake and Eddie. Moses Carver existed in the world in which Roland and Eddie saved King, which is our world, ergo--since he was Susannah's godfather--Susannah was also from that world. This is important to remember to find this answer.

Aaron

That is correct. The day that Odetta said that was the 24th, when she arrived back in New York from Oxford, and it is implied later when she talks of showering and watching the evening news that Detta took over the next day, the 25th, and that was when Roland took her.
