The Lady of Shadows

they are the prime numbers and when entered backwards they "prime the pump" (i.e. start blaine's engines).
do i need to list them? gan, i hope not.

jayson
01-02-2009, 11:06 AM
Forspecial numbers are prime numbers ("prime numbahs" to Detta). As far as what they do, all I can think of is Allow the ka-tet to ride on Blaine. If that's not it, dunno. :orely:

ETA: Nice timing t/s. :)

The Lady of Shadows
01-02-2009, 11:19 AM
jayson we so rock. :couple:

Daghain
01-02-2009, 12:06 PM
Nice. T/S gets the feather!

MonteGss
01-02-2009, 04:25 PM
Nice job, both of you!

The Lady of Shadows
01-02-2009, 04:51 PM
cool.

what was the full name of the man who gave jack and wolf a ride from the burger king and what did he give to jack that later gave him such trouble?

dori
01-02-2009, 08:00 PM
the man's name was bill 'buck' thompson and the itm he gave jave jack was a joint, which later when he and wolf got picked up by the fuzz, Jack ate to try and get rid of the evidence, unfortunatley Jack got stoned.

The Lady of Shadows
01-02-2009, 08:07 PM
wow. that was superbad fast.

good on ya dori. you get the feather. :D

MonteGss
01-03-2009, 09:26 AM
I remember that part. I can't wait to hear Frank Muller reading it. :)

Nice job dori! We await your question.

dori
01-03-2009, 10:36 AM
thanx guys, ok staying with the same book, who could have been a juvenile monster from one of Lily Cavanaugh's old films?

sarah
01-03-2009, 12:50 PM

dori
01-04-2009, 08:02 AM
no sorry maerlyn not sonny

MonteGss
01-13-2009, 10:27 PM

I'm listening to the book right now but I don't remember hearing that part...

dori
01-14-2009, 07:55 AM
not elroy, it's near the end if that helps

MonteGss
01-15-2009, 02:46 PM
Sure it does...it means I won't have the answer for a couple days.
I still have nine hours left to listen to. :)

dori
01-15-2009, 10:44 PM
ha, Monte if you don't wanna lose your crown you'd better pull a sickie and use your day wisley :innocent:

Jon
01-19-2009, 12:22 AM

A trivia question for everyone - Does Jon EVER actually do any Dark Tower trivia?

jayson
01-19-2009, 06:52 AM
Good question Matthew. The better question would be "when was the last time a Courtney Love reference was remotely relevant?" What year is this anyway?

A trivia question for everyone - Does Jon EVER actually do any Dark Tower trivia?

Years of chemical abuse has destroyed my memory.

dori
01-19-2009, 04:20 PM
Jon in answer to your question, Courtney Love was never remotely relevant. So it does beg the question why you brought her up in the first place when the answer to the question is clearly not Courtney Love, and i very much doubt that any answer to any question on here would ever be Courtney Love, in which case i do have to agree with your diagnosis, years of chemical abuse has destroyed your memory, and also I will go so far as to add possibly your thinking process and problem solving ability too. My advice would be a proper doctor should look at the ole tissue and let you know whether or not you should be allowed to play on the computer in the future or not.

Brice
01-19-2009, 05:11 PM
Now, that's just not nice.

dori
01-19-2009, 09:28 PM
Brice i am sorry to offend your hippidemness , if such a word ever excisted, but meaness sometimes is a part of life and as a hippy you should already know that.* As a somewhat hippy myself i realise meaness is a very small part, but a very vital part in my belief system, although am listening to vampire weekend at this very mo and is very hard to stay angry, just so happy when they play, so all is forgiven and i even love jon.

Letti
01-19-2009, 10:51 PM
We make some jokes time to time about the Trivia questions. I am sure I myself have given a similar answer before. But it doesn't mean that I don't respect the question or the one who asked it.

Jon - I hope you'll keep playing with us here. Please do.
Dori - I can write the same... you give us agood questions you like this thread and we like your questions. I hope the fact that I wrote it I didn't see anything bad in Jon's post doesn't make you think that I tried to attack or anything.

Brice
01-20-2009, 03:50 AM
How about someone asking a DT trivia question? :)

Letti
01-20-2009, 04:04 AM
What's the special similarity between Vannay and Jonas?

dori
01-20-2009, 08:22 AM
apologies to letti, jon and everybody else, i honestley meant it as a bit of a joke.
I'm really not that offended by courtney love or jon :)
As for your question letti i am stumped for now and shall have a long hard think.:pullhair:

Letti
01-20-2009, 09:00 AM

What's the special similarity between Vannay and Jonas?

the wavery voice

Nope. Or I don't know anything like that about Vannay.

MonteGss
01-20-2009, 09:15 AM
I don't really. He was never a character that interested me very much.
Maybe I'll try another guess later. :)

Daghain
01-20-2009, 10:33 AM
Well, just for the sake of not overlooking the obvious, I'll say they both taught gunslingers. :D

MonteGss
01-20-2009, 10:47 AM
Jonas taught gunslingers? :orely:

Letti
01-20-2009, 10:54 AM
I missed that part, too.

jayson
01-20-2009, 10:58 AM
I suspect Dags means that Jonas taught Reynolds and DePape the skills he himself learned in his Gunslinger training.

Daghain
01-20-2009, 11:09 AM
No, I actually misread the question to be Vannay and Cort.

I need more caffeine.

ETA: Oh wait, they both limped, didn't they?

Letti

Describe the last paragraph, including the very last word, of what happened in the short story Everything's Eventual.

The Lady of Shadows
01-28-2009, 08:07 PM
dinky says that he has mr. sharpton's email address. and that he has the memory of being in mr. sharpton's big mercedes. and the memory of mr. sharpton's lucky tie, and how he stroked it. so lovingly stroked that tie. and he says that he knows how to make his letter to mr. sharpton eventual. he has that one word floating "like an arrow" in his brain. EXCALIBUR.

ETA: god i love that book of stories. :) thanks maer. i think i'm going to get this out and read it again. :couple:

sarah
02-04-2009, 02:24 PM

The Lady of Shadows
02-05-2009, 05:55 PM
thanks maer. :)

next question:

who are bobby terry and dave roberts? what are they doing (some detail please)?
what are they supposed to be doing? did they accomplish their task?

EdwardDean1999
02-05-2009, 07:37 PM
Bobby and Dave were recruits of RF in The Stand. They were on the lookout for Judge Ferris. Orders were to kill him so he could be sent back to the free zone "unspoiled" presumably as a warning or totem. One of them was asleep and one was reading comics when he saw the Judge drive past the shop where they were posted. They failed that task. So they sped up to catch him and do kill him. But Bobby blows off the judge's face with a .45. He is unrecognizable and hence useless to RF. RF's vengeance is death by being eaten alive.

**slaps bricey around with books 1-7***

you know I luuuzzz you, right?

ok, here goes....

describe what happened when Roland came upon the first door. Details please :D

Letti
02-10-2009, 01:58 PM
He could see it just when he was in front of it. From the other size it was invisible. The door got thinner and thinner in front of his eyes as he was moving and changing the angle. He could read this on the door: The Prisoner
He was suffering from his infection very hard. He had a feeling that the door wouldn't open for him but it did very easily and when he opened it and looked through it he saw clouds and the sky and he got to feel dizzy.. and he entered.

Eh, I read it long time ago. I am sorry for the mistakes but I tried my best. :)

sarah
02-10-2009, 02:01 PM
works for me. :D thanks Letti, you're up

Letti
02-10-2009, 02:02 PM

Where did we meet the word "bountyful" and what was its function? I know, easy.

Girlystevedave
02-10-2009, 04:18 PM
In Wastelands. It was the password that Gasher had written down on the piece of paper. The Tick Tock Man wouldn't let him into the 'bomb shelter' until he recited it.

sarah
03-02-2009, 09:16 PM

sarah
03-19-2009, 10:59 AM
BUMP!

Oh The Lady of Shadows, where are you?

Woofer
03-22-2009, 07:38 AM
Razz said something about her being away, so maybe she is on vacation.

Brice
03-22-2009, 08:16 AM
Yeah, she's gone for a bit. She'll be back. Someone should probably go ahead with this though.

sarah
03-23-2009, 07:40 AM
I'll take it.

Describe the first time Jake and Oy meet.

Woofer
03-26-2009, 04:07 AM
Oy nuzzles and licks Jake's face to wake him, which startles Jake so that he sits up fast and startles Oy.

{aside}My Siberian Husky, Lucy, would get right in my face and just breathe on me until it woke me. Still, she was beautiful to open your eyes to in the morning. Nick, my Corgi-mix, would do the same thing, but he wasn't quite tall enough to put his face even with yours in the bed. You know, being a Corgi and all.{/aside}

sarah

Woofer

Woofer
03-26-2009, 04:16 PM
What was Roland's comforting thought after the lobstrosities maimed his right hand?

Letti
03-26-2009, 10:18 PM
Something like this: "I jerk off left-handed."

Woofer
03-27-2009, 03:59 AM
Yes, ma'am. The feather is yours, beautiful lady.

Letti
04-01-2009, 10:30 AM

in mike's noonan's dream, jo wants her dust catcher; a book titled the moon and sixpence that she was reading when she died.

carry on with the game gunslingers.
i believe that the hungarian princess has the feather at this time. :D

Ok, softball question:

How many people were inside the general store where Roland and Eddie were ambushed? How many of them lived and how many died?

Happy Trivia!

Daghain
04-29-2009, 10:13 AM
Let's see if I can get this off the top of my head. :D

There were four. Two women, who were killed, the storekeeper, who was injured, and John Cullum.

Letti
05-02-2009, 01:18 AM
Heyheyhey!
The shopkeeper died too, yes, a bit later but he did.
So two dead women, one dead shopkeeper and three survivors: John, Eddie and Roland.

Hi! Figured I'd try this out...

Question:
How many dials of magic are there? And who told Roland of them?

Roehcai
01-18-2010, 02:15 PM

I think there are four dials. Vannay told Roland of them.

Roehcai
01-22-2010, 04:35 AM
It was Vanny, but not 4 dials. Should I give the answer? :)

ladysai
01-23-2010, 07:12 AM
Yes! Give the answer!

Aylania
01-23-2010, 03:22 PM
I can't really remember. Was it 7?

Roehcai
01-24-2010, 05:25 AM
Yes! Aylania got it! It's 7. From Wolves of the Calla:

"He had taught them the Seven Dials of Magic, refusing to say if he
believed in any of them, and Roland thought it was tangential to one of
these lessons that Vannay had mentioned todash. Or perhaps you
capitalized it, perhaps it was Todash. Roland didn't know for sure. He
knew that Vannay had spoken of the Manni sect, people who were far
travelers. And hadn't he also mentioned the Wizard's Rainbow?"

That means Aylania gets to ask a question! *Hands feather over. And is it the opopanax feather? Aye, so it may be.*

Aylania
01-24-2010, 11:31 AM
*Takes feather* Why thank you Roehcai :)

Heh I wasn't quite sure whether it were 6 or 7 as it's been a while since I've read WoTC. Hmm.. need to think up a question now...

Ok, some may get it, some may not but this is something that's always stuck in my mind for some reason..

When she had legs, where did Detta Walker used to "frequent" once upon a time?

(Apologies if this question has already been asked!)

Roehcai
01-26-2010, 07:12 AM
That would be 'the drawers', right? Oh, that scandalous Detta! (*waits for confirmation, looking eagerly at the feather*) :excited:

Aylania
01-26-2010, 02:50 PM
Hmm.. you're quite close, same book anyway Roehcai. I'm looking for a certain road, place and route. It's a direct quote if you can get it?

I feel quite mean now :( (http://www.thedarktower.org/palaver/member.php?u=8599)

Roehcai
01-26-2010, 06:58 PM
Well that's trickier. There were a few places. I remember Route 88, Ridgeline Road, and the Red Windmill. I can't recall if there Red Windmill was on either of those two roads tho. (But route 88 and Ridgeline Road were two different places.) If there were more she went to, I can't recall..

lol, don't feel bad about wanting specifics. :)

Aylania
01-28-2010, 01:24 PM
*passes the feather back to Roehcai* Well done sir :)

The passage I always remember in this book for some reason:

"Once upon a time there had been a young woman named Detta Walker who liked to frequent the honky-tonks and roadhouses along Ridgeline Road outside of Nutley and on Route 88, down by the power-lines, outside of Amhigh."

*waits for next question patiently* :rose:

Roehcai
01-30-2010, 01:31 AM
Susannah is such a wonderfully deep character. There could be books on her early life alone. (In truth, all of the ka-tet are very deep. :) )

Ok, this one may be hard, or someone might know it right away.. We'll see:

Who is infamous for causing marriage difficulties between Lydia and Apon?

Aylania
01-30-2010, 02:13 PM
Ohh that is a tricky one but I think I know it. Won't say anything yet though. I'll give someone else a chance :)

Roehcai
02-05-2010, 11:11 AM

CrimsonMordred
02-06-2010, 01:08 AM
Sorry dude, I can't recall, I've tried to search through the books for this one, but it must have been a pretty vague description. Still there Aylania? You can answer.

Sickrose
02-06-2010, 01:46 AM
Is it Cassiopeia?

Roehcai
02-07-2010, 12:35 AM
It is Cassiopeia! Sickrose wins! :D

Apon and Lydia are the names of Old Star and Old Mother (respectively). According to midworld legend, they fought when Old Mother found Apon and Cassiopa flirting. Supposedly, the earth was formed from the broken crockery after Old Mother threw it at Old Father.

(I didn't think it was vague, and I believe it was mentioned more than once, but I could be wrong. I admit, using 'Lydia' and 'Apon' was tricky, though. :P I thought if I used the more common names, it would have been too easy. )

Ageless Stranger

Here is my question, and it's a little tricksy...

Why did Roland tap his throat three times before crossing any open body of water?

Ageless Stranger
02-18-2010, 09:22 PM
Anyone?

Kevin
02-18-2010, 10:15 PM
I cant figure this one out; tapping the throat three times is usually a sign of respect in the books within a ka-tet. I cant remember any mention of him doing it before crossing water, I cant even remember a time when he does cross water. Unless its in the comics?

Ageless Stranger
02-18-2010, 10:21 PM
No, it's from the books. I've never seen the comics. :(

Like I said before, the question is a little tricksy. I thought someone would remember this scene for sure. I remember it because of the reason you mentioned. (Used during a greeting)

Letti

Sickrose
02-19-2010, 04:56 AM
Hmm I remember him doing it before he goes to get into the boat with John Cullum in SOS - just after the shoot out with Balazaars men. I think Eddies says he has seen Roland do this before when he is about to cross water and means to ask him but before he could death slips between them or somehting like that. I cant remember why? Is is somehting to do with Gods of water?

Ageless Stranger
02-19-2010, 05:24 AM
