One reason was to forget the pain in his leg.

But the main reason was so Roland could take care of it and so Eddie wouldn't kill Tower.

Wuducynn
01-10-2008, 10:39 AM
There you go. Jeeze Chux..you got it anyway.. ;) Give us a hard one...ummm question.

timtempest6
01-10-2008, 04:08 PM
eddie did it with his head down as tower entered the cabin cause he knew if he looked up and saw tower he would kill him

timtempest6
01-10-2008, 04:10 PM
woops to slow

chuxter
01-11-2008, 06:30 AM
Who trained Roy Depape in Gunslinger tactics?

TerribleT
01-11-2008, 08:46 AM
Cort

chuxter
01-11-2008, 08:54 AM
Nope, not Cort.

jayson
01-11-2008, 08:59 AM
I think he got his training online.

chuxter
01-11-2008, 09:47 AM
Yeah, I think DeVry offers courses in Advanced Gunslinging and Oracle Foreplay

jayson
01-11-2008, 09:55 AM
...Oracle Foreplay

almost pissed myself on that one. nice chuxter!

i'd render a real guess that jonas taught him though that seems a bit obvious and likely incorrect.

Wuducynn
01-11-2008, 12:29 PM
FUCK

jayson
01-11-2008, 12:40 PM
Young man, did that animal just say fuck?

chuxter
01-11-2008, 02:09 PM
Yup, Eldred Jonas did indeed teach him the ways of gunslinger tactics as well as sphinctry.

R of G it's all yours.

Wuducynn
01-11-2008, 04:16 PM
Damn. I thought my answer was the right one.

jayson
01-12-2008, 05:10 AM
While he lived in the Calla, Father Callahan had a pet cat. What was it's name?

say sorry if this one has come up before but that's a LOT of posts to read thru to find out

Wuducynn
01-12-2008, 06:28 AM
Fuck?

jayson
01-12-2008, 08:12 AM
Fuck?

What's his name, not what'd he do with it.

Wuducynn
01-12-2008, 02:23 PM
Its funny, I actually knew someone with a cat named Vulva. It would come when called too. They would let it out at night and call for her in the morning..."VULLLLLLLLLLLLLLLVAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA....VULLLV AAAAAAAAAAAA"

Wuducynn
01-12-2008, 03:23 PM

that's correct Matt... you're up

Wuducynn
01-12-2008, 08:37 PM
Who painted his door red and why? Who did this person end up with after five years?

Wuducynn
01-16-2008, 07:07 PM
Its been days and no one has even posted a try for this question. Must be a real stumper, either that or everyone forgot there was one posted.

Storyslinger
01-16-2008, 07:11 PM
No clue?

Daghain
01-16-2008, 07:25 PM
It's a stumper, for sure.

BedOfRoses
01-16-2008, 08:24 PM
I think the answer is Sooney but I don't know the answer to the second question.

Daghain
01-16-2008, 08:25 PM
Who the hell is Sooney?

BedOfRoses
01-16-2008, 08:38 PM
 Sooney owned the hut where Roland and Susan "did it."

Daghain
01-16-2008, 08:39 PM
OOOOOOHHHHHH. Duh.

Wuducynn
01-17-2008, 07:05 AM
I think the answer is Sooney but I don't know the answer to the second question.

You have that part of it right.

Steven of Eld
01-17-2008, 03:22 PM
That would be Sooney, who ended up with the Manni

Wuducynn
01-17-2008, 05:02 PM
And Steven of Eld has got the full answer. So, its up to you and BedofRoses who goes next. Personally since you're new, I think you should go.

Steven of Eld
01-17-2008, 05:31 PM
Without BedofRoses' answer I probably wouldn't have gotten it, but i'll go if u say so. :cowboy:

The King family had bought the old '___?___ place' on the far side of the lake from 19 Turtleback Lane

BedOfRoses
01-17-2008, 07:11 PM
That would be Sooney, who ended up with the Manni

Great job, Steven!! I was close but just couldn't remember the rest of the answer.

Woofer
01-18-2008, 04:53 AM
Without BedofRoses' answer I probably wouldn't have gotten it, but i'll go if u say so. :cowboy:

John Cullum

Steven of Eld
01-18-2008, 03:19 PM
good guess woofer, but incorrect.

Woofer
01-18-2008, 06:01 PM
Rats! I'll have to dive back in and see if I can sniff it out. Great question!

R.F.
01-19-2008, 07:57 PM
The King family had bought the old '___?___ place' on the far side of the lake from 19 Turtleback Lane

I believe that would be the old Cara Laughs place, neh?

R.F.
01-20-2008, 11:09 AM
I hope it would not be too presumptuous of me to go ahead and post a question. I'm pretty sure that my answer was correct, and if by some chance I was wrong, disregard my question ;D

What was the full name of Roland's first dog?

Steven of Eld
01-20-2008, 07:40 PM
incorrect (although I think that may be that name of it, I was looking for the last name of the previous owners), but that's a really good question (and a good guess as well). I don't think anyone would mind having 2 active questions. I know I wouldn't. I don't even know where to start looking for the answer to that one, though

R.F.
01-20-2008, 08:38 PM
Ah, the McCray place

Steven of Eld
01-21-2008, 02:07 PM
nope

Daghain
01-21-2008, 02:10 PM
Tassenbaum?

Woofer
01-21-2008, 06:23 PM
For Steven of Eld's question: Schindler

For R.F.'s question: Ring-A-Levio (Ringo)

Steven of Eld
01-22-2008, 01:22 PM
You say true. At least for my question. I can't speak for R.F.

R.F.
01-22-2008, 01:25 PM
Correct for my question as well, though it was never a valid question.

Woofer
01-23-2008, 02:26 PM
Next question:

What three people drive the bulldozer that threatened the rose in Eddie's dream?

Steven of Eld
01-23-2008, 03:05 PM
I know gasher was one. I wanna say the others were Roland and Walter?

Woofer
01-23-2008, 03:09 PM
So very close - 2/3 correct!

jayson
01-24-2008, 04:20 AM
is it gasher, jack andolini, and roland?

Woofer
01-24-2008, 05:22 AM
Still 2/3 correct. I have to get ready for day 2 of a 3 day seminar on S1000D, but while I'm in class I'll try to thing of a hint that won't instantly give it away.

Wuducynn
01-24-2008, 05:59 AM
Gasher, Andrew Quick and Roland.

jayson
01-24-2008, 06:03 AM
Gasher, Andrew Quick and Roland.

that was going to be my guess as well, but i was thinking about it... it was eddie's dream, right? had eddie actually seen andrew quick yet at that point? it was before the emerald palace, and eddie/suze never saw tick tock in lud, right? so my question is, if eddie dreamed of tick tock, how did he know who it was?

Wuducynn
01-24-2008, 06:15 AM
Ka

jayson
01-24-2008, 06:19 AM
of course, the answer to every question.

Edit: I do believe your answer is correct though Matt, I just couldn't quite jive with how Eddie knew it was Quick.

TerribleT
01-24-2008, 08:03 AM
Gasher, Andrew Quick and Roland.

that was going to be my guess as well, but i was thinking about it... it was eddie's dream, right? had eddie actually seen andrew quick yet at that point? it was before the emerald palace, and eddie/suze never saw tick tock in lud, right? so my question is, if eddie dreamed of tick tock, how did he know who it was?

He never saw Jake before he returned, but if I remember, he dreamed of Jake. I know Jake dreamed of Eddie without seeing him. Dreams don't seem to have that limitation.

Wuducynn
01-24-2008, 09:10 AM
Yep, their connection as ka-tet, is why.

Woofer
01-24-2008, 02:24 PM
:excited: Here is a hint: "All aboard."

jayson
01-24-2008, 02:40 PM
Gasher, Roland and Engineer Bob?

Woofer
01-24-2008, 02:44 PM
Gasher, Roland and Engineer Bob?

Some threesome, huh? You say true. *passes feather*

jayson
01-24-2008, 02:45 PM
That was all the hint there.

I will have something asap...

TerribleT
01-24-2008, 02:54 PM
Engineer fucking Bob?!?!?!?!?!

*sigh*

jayson
01-24-2008, 03:03 PM
well we knew you were lost T, it's from Waste Lands, your most favorite book ever

Woofer
01-24-2008, 03:08 PM
Engineer fucking Bob?!?!?!?!?!

*sigh*

Heh. And I am so zombified that I could think of nothing that wouldn't give it away immediately.

jayson
01-24-2008, 03:12 PM
ok, this may be easy, maybe not, but i wanted to keep the game going before i go away for the wknd tomorrow, so here goes...

Roland tells of hearing of a band of slow mutants who worship the Christian God. What do they call their God?

Wuducynn
01-24-2008, 05:20 PM
Big Sky Daddy

jayson
01-24-2008, 05:22 PM
Big Sky Daddy

Wuducynn
01-24-2008, 05:31 PM
May the Big Sky Daddy bless you with a long and interesting life...

Who was a member of the Phi Beta Crapper? And who called it that?

Daghain
01-24-2008, 10:08 PM
You know, you have an uncanny ability to ask a question that is RIGHT in the mental rolodex...but I can't find the fucking card.

I'll throw out the random: Susannah, and that's what Eddie called it.

But I'm sure I'm wrong. :D

Wuducynn
01-25-2008, 05:33 AM
But I'm sure I'm wrong. :D

You are.

Wuducynn
01-25-2008, 12:04 PM
Here I thought this was an easy one.

Daghain
01-25-2008, 12:29 PM
Well, that's what you get for thinkin'.

Wuducynn
01-25-2008, 01:09 PM
Its just funny, the ones I think someone will get wicked fast are sometimes the ones that take forever and vice versa..

chuxter
01-25-2008, 01:19 PM
That was Dinky speaking of Brautigan.

Wuducynn
01-25-2008, 01:20 PM
The Chuxter has it. Good job.

chuxter
01-25-2008, 01:34 PM
Yay!!

OK, who was known as "Her Nibs", and what was her other name?

In other words she was referred to as Her Nibs and what other two names?

Wuducynn
01-25-2008, 01:41 PM
Roy's Coronation Cunt and Deborah

TerribleT
01-25-2008, 01:56 PM
Susan Delgado?

Wuducynn
01-25-2008, 01:59 PM
No, she's Roland's Coronation Cunt.

chuxter
01-25-2008, 02:12 PM
My sources say you're half right with Deborah.

Roy's Coronation Cunt and Deborah

Wuducynn
01-25-2008, 02:13 PM
Gert Moggins. Although I thought for sure that her nickname by Jonas or Reynolds was "Roy's Coronation Cunt".

chuxter
01-25-2008, 02:17 PM
Gert was who I was looking for though I shoulda given it to you for Ye Olde Coronation Cunt. They sure were the romantic types back then. Or is it in the future?

Anyway, feather for you.

Gert Moggins. Although I thought for sure that her nickname by Jonas or Reynolds was "Roy's Coronation Cunt".

MonteGss
01-28-2008, 04:06 PM
Enough of the suffering, lovely lady. GIMME A QUESTION! :)

Wuducynn
01-28-2008, 04:30 PM
Yeah, Daghina, Sister Monte is in need of a question. If he doesn't get one yesterday, he'll start crying and needing a hug and I'll have to let you take care of that.

MonteGss
01-28-2008, 04:32 PM
It's about time you figure me out. Damn. Now maybe you can be more sensitive to my feelings and quit playing that whole "tough guy" routine. Why not show everyone the caring, tender man I know and love?

Actually, Monte got it in his roundabout way.

Charles, son of Charles drew the black stone and was tasked to hang Hax the cook.

Sorry for the delay, all; we were hauling stuff to the dump yesterday. After hauling 420 lbs and having some cheeseburgers and fries, I was done for the night.

Cry your pardon, sai, 'twas not trying to be difficult. *passes feather*

My thinking, just so you know:

I interpreted those books as recording barony horses and breed lines, and that those mentioned were not his per se. That's why I said "close, but to the side". However, as I was drifting off to sleep, I thought to myself that they could've actually been Pat's horses and that I should've called your answer correct.

I am at work so maybe my answer won't be good enough because I don't have the books here (but one) but we met him in DT7 when Eddie was driving with Roland to meet John Cullum in our World.
And where was he from? ... from Roland's world?

Why is the desert always the start of Roland's loop?

because that's where he picked up the trail of the M.I.B.?

Although that is a true statement, that is not the reason for the exact spot. :)

ZoNeSeeK
02-17-2008, 04:51 PM
Because thats when he realised he was chasing the Tower?

MonteGss
02-17-2008, 05:54 PM
That answer is very close.

Girlystevedave
02-17-2008, 06:33 PM
Taking a shot here:
Because Roland never changes, so he is damned to repeat the journey through the desert over and over.

Letti
02-17-2008, 11:12 PM
What Girlystevedave wrote - whenever he reaches the top of the Tower but he didn't stand he must start it again (long story, huh?) - and why the desert itself? I think because that's the loneliest part of his journey. The darkest one. That's the point where he can really start over (as a grown-up).

MonteGss
02-18-2008, 03:14 AM
Colder now. Zone is still closest. Let me try to rephrase the question:

Why does Roland think he goes back to the desert to start his loop?

Girlystevedave
02-18-2008, 06:12 AM
He's not fortunate enough to repeat earlier days when he could have REALLY changed things, like the battle of Jericho.

MonteGss
02-18-2008, 04:51 PM
No. You are getting closer to the answer but there is a reason he thinks it is to the desert and NOT any other place (where he could've changed things).

ZoNeSeeK
02-18-2008, 08:35 PM
Because thats when he remembers the Horn, and on his latest resumption the Horn is safely secured to his belt, and he knows he needs it to get to the Tower, like a ka thing?

or was it thats when he realised the Tower was in danger?

KO1
02-18-2008, 11:30 PM
Personally I always felt this particular question is a bit subjective.

Personally I beleive it was the first time it was clear that he would reach the tower. That as he now had the man in black in his sights so to speak, it was clear that this journey to the tower could truely begin

if its what roland believes though, it was the first moment that he believed that his quest might actually succeed

MonteGss
02-19-2008, 03:15 AM
Well, the answer is not subjective at all, nor is the question. His idea is, as Roland believes he goes back to that particular point because that was when he knew he would ultimately reach his goal, the Tower.

So, assuming KO1 returns to this thread, the feather is his/hers. Personally I think his question will be much better than mine was.

KO1
02-19-2008, 09:41 AM
OK, wasnt trying to be offensive.

Roland's obsession with the Tower?

02-19-2008, 08:22 PM

In context of how the word is used in the series, I don't think thats accurate.

KO1
02-19-2008, 09:56 PM
Yeah in context for me its hard to draw an exact defination

ZoNeSeeK
02-19-2008, 10:04 PM
But i'll give it to ya if you've found where its used - Id probably say it means a semi valuable luxury item, maybe?

KO1
02-19-2008, 10:07 PM
Oh I know its in Wolves during Rolands coversation with Slightman the Elder regarding his betrayal of the Calla. I took it as meaning something of little value, or to be more specific something of little value compared to what one is giving up to obtain it.
