Bev, does this contain more material than the previous release?

Bev Vincent

I'll have more to say about this once it is officially announced but, in brief, yes -- a lot more material.

I’m very excited about this new companion, and pre-ordered it right away. The previous one has been my constant and much appreciated companion throughout my work on my PhD, I still take it out every couple of days to check things here and there.

Exciting news Bev. Looking forward to this.
I've just started reading The Road To The Dark Tower but am pausing until I get around to reading The Gunslinger again before I go too deep.

I don't know if it's the scan, but the red on black of Bev's name and the subtitle are hard to read....
But then, I guess that it put the emphasis on King's name, which is likely to be the strategy

Oy's Night Out

Bev's name is particularly hard to read! Still, it's a nice subtle cover I think.

IMO, a lighter red would make everything more readable.
Not only Bev's name, but also the subtitle.
Couldnt do any harm to have it all more readable.
But it's maybe just the file

That's not the final cover.

I'm still awaiting the green light to make an official announcement.

It won't have any detachable media like the first edition (paper costs make that prohibitive, apparently).

It is twice as long as the previous book and covers every one of King's books up to Fairy Tale, not just a select few like the Companion did, although not all in as great a depth. The "form factor" is different (it's about an inch shorter).

You can see the table of contents here (https://www.bevvincent.com/books/sk-complete/), along with links to pre-order from the various sites. I'm especially pleased that, unlike the SK Illustrated Companion, this is not a B&N exclusive -- it will be available everywhere English is spoken at all bookstores.

Thanks for letting me know. My publisher didn't! It's disappointing that the date is moving this close to when it was supposed to happen, but apparently it's a transportation issue involving boats, trains, trucks and other types of locomotion.

I feel bad for the local bookstore that had a launch day event set up for September 13...

Apologies my french (ahah), but bloody hell : make up your mind (the publisher)!

That ends up during my holidays though !

(PS : dumb question... but do you think there is a possibility of getting copies signed by you and king?)

Bev Vincent

According to my publicist: "Basically, a pub date is about four weeks from the books arriving at our distribution center. This is so there’s time for retailers and wholesalers to receive the books, and then ship to their customers. So…when it looked like books wouldn’t hit the warehouse until next month, the pubdate changed to October. Apparently books are now arriving"

I can't imagine Steve signing a copy since it's not his book. Copies signed by me can be ordered from our local bookstore, using this link: https://checkout.square.site/buy/2GHDPE6SBXPJMST3NZ7E3PQY If there's an issue with shipping not being accepted, contact https://www.myvillagebooks.com/

Today is official publication day. I've been told by a reliable source that the first printing is all but sold out from the publisher and a second printing has been ordered, so that's pretty cool news. If you want a first printing, now would be a good time to pick up a copy! Unlike with the SK Illustrated Companion, this book does have a numberline (although it's at the back of the book for some reason), so you'll be able to tell which printing you're getting.

Entertainment Weekly! The Stephen King Ultimate Companion book: The most interesting things we learned (https://ew.com/books/stephen-king-ultimate-companion-book-most-interesting-facts/)

What was the original title of Salem's Lot? Which of his books does King think should be half the length? How did an accepting an award almost kill the famous author? Read on to find out!

By Clark Collis

The spookiest thing about the just-published Stephen King: A Complete Exploration of His Work, Life, and Influences is how many fascinating tidbits of information about Stephen King writer Bev Vincent fits into the book, while still leaving space aplenty for archival photos and documents from the Carrie writer's personal collections. You'll have to buy the tome to see the images but you can entertain (and terrify!) your friends with these ten fascinating facts we gleaned from reading Vincent's book.

I just ordered an inscribed copy from Village, looking forward to it! Happy to support an indie bookstore on this one.
I have the B&N Illustrated Companion, fantastic production. What sealed the deal for me is knowing there is plenty of new content in this release. Maybe I will learn something new, and even if I don't, it will be a pleasure to go back over the publication history. As a creative person, how King creates his stories has always been as interesting to me as the stories themselves, sometimes even moreso--I've always been a great lover of his forewords, interviews, etc. that offer glimpses into that process. Hoping to dig even deeper with this release.

Hey Bev,

Don't know how I missed this. Looks like it's from last year. I have "The road to the Dark Tower" If I'm buying another Bev V book would this be the one you'd suggest most? Or the first version (with scans) of SK illustrated companion?

Thanks

The first one is out of print and quite expensive on the secondary market. This one covers all of King's books and includes the text of the original, so that'd be the way to go.
