Greatest 70s Film Tournament PREDICTIONS

For those who didn't participate in the 2010's prediction pool, it's pretty simple. You pick the 16 films you think will make the final 16 films. Then of those 16 films you pick the 8 films to make the final 8, and so on, until you pick the finals and Winner. There is a point system at the top of the Google Form link.

You also pick 10 Insurance films that will substitute in for any of your 16 films should they be eliminated in the Round of 32. Some people's insurance films carried through to the finals last time, so it's they're very important. More details on how they work as you fill out the Google Form

Depending on how much deliberation you choose to put into your lineup, this should take between 15-20 minutes. Just keep in mind you're not picking how YOU would vote for these films, but how the site as a whole will vote. Classics and more popular films might be smarter than that obscure French film from 1973 you love. You know the one.

Since the tournament will be wrapping up sometime around the end of March, I might be pretty busy with school so I can't guarantee I'll be able to update the scores/spreadsheet round to round, but I'll try.

Okay guys. I've started on the spreadsheet. I'm going to try to have it posted by the end of this weekend, but I've got some work to catch up on, and my wrestling PPV predictions league takes priorty..and Wrestlemania week next week is giving me a lot of work to do. I am also moving on Saturday. But I will have it up before the round of 32 begins in two weeks.

Triple Post Update Attack. I'll get the spreadsheet posted by tomorrow since we're at the point where predictions are officially taking effect. I'll strike out any films people have already lost. I'm pretty sure i've lost a few already, but I haven't been playing too close attention to the results.

A lot of us picked heavily from the same 20 films or so. Insurance picks, what films we picked to advance, and what films end up facing what films down the stretch is going to determine eveyrthing.

The spreadsheet has all the information in it now. Tomorrow I'll go through and scratch off the films that have already been eliminated before the round of 32. I have to go vote myself...some polls have already closed before I could vote!

I made a few observations.

Jaws,Alien,Rocky,Star Wars was on everyones list.

Close encounters was on 8, and 1 alternative

The least picked was Escape from Alcatraz which just made one alternate list.
The French connection also didn't make anyones list, but was on 4 alternative

3 people have the exact same final 4. (jaws, star wars, alien, godfather)

The Godfather part 2 seems to be the bracket buster, as 4 people have it in their final 4. It is the only eliminated movie to make any ones final 4.

The range is 8 to 13 picks making the final 16. If alternatives are added, then the range is 11 to 14

Of course I could have counted wrong for any of the above.

Hey everyone, my bad! I haven't really been on the internet beyond Facebook on my phone since I finished school. Was out at my brothers spending time with my niece for a few weeks and finally unpacking from my move too so I've basically just been playing video games and watching Star Trek/Frasier for the past few weeks. Pure checkout. I not only forgot about these predictions, but I forgot about the tournament entirely. I don't even know what won!

I'm not really that surprised by that final. I didn't pick it, of course. I figured the 70s would be the one decade where the truly great films would get over the popcorn flicks, but I was wrong. It was just really hard to bet against either of The Godfather films considering their GOAT legacy. They were our only hope.
