Well, no one seems to watching or writing about this show and I think they should. Stephen King, himself would and may already love this show. And any self-respecting fan of, King would dig it the most!!!

I won't go into much detail so as not to spoil the show and its mysteries, but the premise is that there is an ongoing battle between good and Evil (as always is the case). The shows plot centers around a conspiracy within the Catholic church which is centered on the 30 coins, Judas received for betraying, Jesus Christ.

There is a well crafted mystery running through the episodes along with creepy crawlies, possessions and supernatural items and events. You nameit so far and they've had it. The show appears every, Monday on HBOEast (and West I presume) Channel 501 on Directv and I'm sure can also be viewed on the HBO streaming service, HBOMAX.

It's an ongoing, episodic Horror/thriller whose only drawback (in my mind) is that it is presented entirely in Spanish with sub-titles. It's a Spanish show coming from, HBO Europe. It's currently up to episode IV, but the previous shows are available "On Demand. I'm telling you guys. This is worth it IMHO. And that's from just 4 episodes!!! The only drawback (to me) is the sub-titles which sometimes means a rewinf to read. Other than that the underlying mystery is tantalizing and potentially mind blowing. The weekly episodes are fairly juicy, some more than others of course and cool monsters from time to time. Episode V looks like it will top the rest from the trailer. I sinverely suggest you binge the first 4 episodes and get on the train!!! This is a fairly original horror story dealing with the church heavily, Biblic themes and shit crawling out of Hell and Lord knows where!!!

If you don't love it, I'll gladly take the ridicule for the rest of my time here!!! LOL Think a Horror version of The DaVinci code.

Wait until you get to some of the later episodes and the whole conspiracy and mythology begins to take shape!!! Good stuff, IMHO!!!

Well, I wasn't sure about it after the first episode but I was intrigued enough to continue. I really enjoyed the second episode, it was very creepy. And the third was good as well. Do we know how many episodes total there will be?

I like short seasons like that--8, 10, 12 episodes. Enough to tell the story without any filler. Plus, not too many episodes for me to plow through if I end up not liking it. :lol:

Me too, if they follow it up with the next season in a reasonable amount of time, not like "The Soprano's" did having year long off seasons.

I have to say that I really dig this show despite the sub-titles which, I normally don't care for at ALL. However, I'm a little worried that it isn't getting the attention I think it deserves. At least not here anyway. I just hope it doesn't go the way of "Carnivale" (another great show that got shelved before it's time) or "John, from Cincinnatti". I'm just loving the mystery and conspiracy elements along with the cool monsters. It's also very well done (IMHO) for a foriegn show. This is the first time I've ever seen anything from HBO Eurpoe, on HBO USA.

Trying to get the word out there.

Good to hear, I also like the shorter seasons. I hope there is a conclusion. I'd prefer a standalone series versus multiple seasons.

And Carnivale was excellent, I really miss that show and wish it had gotten a proper ending.

Why is the mayor of the little village the one that kind of took on the investigation, versus a cop. It seems like the cops weren't even called initially. That's the only thing I thought was a little odd.

IMO it's because the townspeople seem to almost be under a spell that only the Mayor and Vet are immune to. I'm not sure what episode you are watching, but there is an episode concerning the townspeople that fortified my theory.

Yeah, Ep 2 was a bit of a stumble, but I thought they got right back on track in Ep.3. I'm so glad you're enjoying it, Heather and Ricky. Not too often I'm able to make a suggestion to the group. I'm usually watching what others have suggested. lol

Now, if we could just get some more folks onboard..... I'm still irrationally worried we'll only get the one season and its obvious to me that this was intended to go on for a few seasons before they wrap it up. I wish I could find more background info on the showrunners, writers and director, but so far I've come up empty.

Man, a crazy good episode this evening!!! Next week is the season finale and from the trailer it looks to be freaking AWESOME!!!!!

I'm telling you, this show has everything a, Stephen King fan could want, The Catholic Church, Renegade priests, The Devil (Himself), Demons, Witchcraft, people rising from the dead, supernatural magic, Spells, a dark conspiracy, mythology, hoary monsters, you name it!!!! The effects are pretty good as well as the cinematography (from my amatuer eye anyway). The acting is good for a foriegn show. The only drawback in my mind is the language. However, I didn't let that stop me and I generally HATE sub-titles!!!

You guys have got to check this out. After next week you can binge it if you prefer. It's running on regular HBO and on HBOMAX. Monday nights.

I enjoyed it. I was worried about how it was all going to tie together with a conclusion, but after last nights episode I think they can do it. Hopefully we won't be disappointed. I do wonder if there's plans for a season 2 or if it'll be a standalone series.

Yeah, I'm wondering about a season two as well. I haven't been able to find anything on-line about the show at all. Nothing about how it is being received, plans going forward or even any discussion which, surprises me for a show with so much mythology and potentially controversial content.

In any case, from what I saw in the trailer for the season finale it looks like they may tie up quite a bit of the story so much so that it not being extended won't leave much plot un-answered. I'm hoping more folks will pick up on the show once the entire season is available to view.

I'll be fine with it being a single season, so long as it has a proper ending. I think I would actually prefer that than multiple seasons. I'm not sure what else they'll be able to do if they continue it on. But then again I suppose that all depends on how it ends. I haven't seen the preview, just gonna wait and watch the finale next week :)

This is exactly what I have been concerned about since I first started watching it. That's why I have been trying to do what I can to raise awareness of the show. They certainly left it so that they could go either way. Stop here and let you imagine what happens or pick it up for a season two. I've had a 'Carnivale" kinda feeling about the show since the beginning. I hope its getting great feedback and that they will push forward with another season. I'd sure like to see how, Merche ends up going forward. She was a fucking strange character wasn't she? I really couldn't quite figure her out. Though I did get a heavy impression she will be going forward to try and become the new leader of the secret faction or start her own cult. What do you guys think?

I just have the finale left now. I haven't heard about a second season but I did see in the preview for the finale it said "series finale." I know other countries sometimes use the word "series" to mean the end of a season, so I'm not sure what to make of that.

Was I the only one waiting for that mutant spider-baby-thing to make an appearance? It was such a big part of the beginning of the season and then it kind of just...went away. Did I miss something?

Also, I wasn't expecting the finale to be as open-ended as it was, especially with whatever's going on with Elena!

i thought that monstrosity was just a one off in the line with the several other one off creatures thrown against out dynamic threesome. I did like the "Spider-Witch" thing that was cool and unexpected in the way they depicted it. I was all set for the witch to turn into something, but the "Spiderman attachment" thing was unexpected and definitely creepier IMHO

Overall, I thought it was a really good show and I enjoy the mystery of the whole thing along with the creatures and so forth. I hope the show is received well and HBO feels it warrants a second season. It would be cool if they picked it up as a HBO USA show and streamlined the story telling along with eliminating the sub-titles though, the actors were not bad that they cast. Especially the Priest, Vergara. and the actor who portrayed "The Devil".

I really got a kick out of the episode when he unloaded a stream of fire at the priest!!! That was so cool!!! He also just had this "sly/creepiness" about him that was just perfect for the part. Don't you agree?

FWIW, a second season is the reason I've been trying to get the word out on this show and trying to hype it as much as possible. Hopefully, a great showing from the fans and audience will convince HBO to sign on for another season. While the season finale left it in a way that I could live with a single season story wise, I think they have enough material in mind to carry it for a couple more seasons. I wouldn't want it to go the way of, "Carnivale", which still kinda sticks in my craw. That creator, Daniel Knauff I believe, publicly stated that he had 6 or 7 seasons in mind to tell his entire story and HBO cut him off after season two. So, spread the word, my friends!!!! lol

Yeah, I was thinking that the spider-baby was a one-off, "look at how weird this town is!" kind of thing. But they really made such a big deal of it early on that I kept waiting for them to circle back to it. Oh well. Maybe in a possible season two.

And yes, I agree that the finally leaves Merche in a very interesting place.

I wish they would offer an English dubbed version. Since my stroke a few years ago my reading comprehension isn't what it used to be and I have to keep pausing it to read and re-read. So I gave up watching.
