What did you think of the Wayward Pines trilogy? I just finished it as well. I thought the first book was good, second was OK, and third was pretty underwhelming. Had higher hopes for the overall trilogy. Ethan was pretty unlikeable IMO and that didn’t help.

I actually loved it. Simple and intriguing. Loved the ending and wanted more. I do agree on Ethan but to me the story was more about the environment and situation. The dilemma of it all.

So far Greenlight is humorous and lighthearted.

I absolutely loved The Ghost of Old Coal House. That's a good one to read at Christmastime as that's when it takes place. It's written in a similar style to an old English ghost story. Very atmospheric. I also really enjoyed Autumn Bleeds Into Winter, but that's not limited to winter. Bone White was also good. It's one that I think would make an excellent tv series. The other winter horrors I read were just meh and I wouldn't recommend them.

I looked up all three of those and they sound good! I added them to my list. Maybe I'll get to them for next year. :)

I bought a couple more this year that I haven't gotten to yet. I might hold onto them for next winter. Problem is I'm dying to read both, so we'll see if I can wait :lol:

Dark Matter. WOW. Loved it, better than the Pines trilogy. I will end up reading most if not all of his stuff.

I think Wayward Pines is still my favorite. Loved Dark Matter too but I enjoyed Recursion even more. I can't wait for a new book by him :D

It was kind of like Boy’s Life by Robert McCammon in that it’s a lot of episodic vignettes with an overarching mystery. If you like one you’ll like the other. It wasn’t as good as I thought it would be but it was a decent read.

That one is included in Down and Out in Purgatory, so I requested that title from my library yesterday.
Just waiting for it to arrive from another branch.

Rooftop Air is only about 70 pages, so it's a quick read.

Sorry for the late reply. I thought Malignant Summer was pretty good. If you're into coming of age horror you should enjoy it.

I liked Of Men and Monsters but I guess I was hoping more for a "boy befriends monster" book based on the summary which it wasn't.

I do both. Almost half of my books this year have been audio. And a lot of the ones that I've been physically reading have been on the shorter side. I have an hour commute to work, and often times I'm able to listen while at work as well so I can usually fly through them.

Yes, I loved it! So I actually got the audiobook and decided to listen to it instead since she narrates it. I've been meaning to message you. She really has lived quite the life. She's been through and experienced so much. I also want to go back and rewatch Mistress of the Dark knowing all the people that she cast in it. I had no idea about all the little parts she cast, and that Miss Yvonne was it, even though I was watching them during the same era. Then again I never knew how dirty the movie was back then either :lol: I also had no idea about the show she tried to make. I found it on youtube so plan to give it a watch soon.

Oh, I bet that audiobook was extra cool hearing her stories in her own voice. I've been meaning to re-watch Mistress of the Dark as well but I didn't get to it this Halloween season. And I had no idea about her sitcom either! I actually just looked it up on YouTube since you mentioned it and saved it to my favorites. I can't wait to watch it. Thanks for the idea!
