2021 Collecting Goals

Well folks, it's that time of year again.

Time to look back on our 2020 goals to see how we did, and time to look ahead to 2021 to set some new ones.

I didn't even make a list for 2020 so I did pretty well :lol:
(but I only got one book from my 2019 list - Roadwork UK.)

I did do stellar in the original art department though!

So my list will start with all the Bachman PBs except UK Roadwork.
I'll also add a Full Throttle lettered because I do like the way it looks.

Cheers, i watch for these constantly. That is my 3rd option, yet most wanted but due to the price bottom of the 3. Patience with that one i think until the right one appears, at the right time, right price. Thanks for letting me know though. Much appreciated.

One of the most enjoyable traditions on the forum is setting collecting goals. Last year I added a flat signed first edition IT which takes if off the list for this year. I was lucky to land the limited of Later through Forbidden Planet or it would also be on the list. I also moved out 36 titles last year - majority being duplicate SK books so I have space to add a few items in 2021!

1) signed by SK artist edition of The Song of Susannah from Grant
2) another copy of Ubris to add to my college publications collection - Spring of 1969 or Spring of 1968 would be top choice
3) another inscribed “to Paul” first edition (am stuck at 18!)
4) hoping to add a few more slipcases from Jeff - hopefully including one for The Tommyknockers

I am not sure of my 2021 collecting goals as such, but I guess
- Later proof : hoping to get one of those
- Later lettered : I am supposed to recieve it!
- Unannounced Stephen King proof : hoping to get a proof of his second 2021 book
- French proof : hoping to get a proof of the french "if it bleeds" to be released in february
- Getting published : in theory, next month a french publisher is releasing a small chapbook I wrote about a french author I collect


And I think that's pretty much it.
2020 was probably the year I spent the most on books. I got 2 Lyrasbooks, and bought more (cheaper) books.

I feel like I spent the year litterally working, as I didnt really have any proper holidays. Hence why I guess I spent so much on books.
I would love to get a Dragon Rebound at original price, but I guess that besides a lottery it's very unlikely. And even at a lottery it's very unlikely since I aint Ari.

Besides that, got many things planned for 2021.
My wife should soon finishing paying her student loan, I then encourage her to learn to drive and we want to look for another flat by the end of the year. As we start to run out of space (and space for my books, although I feel like I will sell some duplicates)... but this time to buy !

This may sound stupid - but my 2021 goal is to chill out and stop hunting so aggressively (by my standards). I want to buy a house damn it, gotta save my sheckles.

Actually, let me amend that. My 2021 goal is to build my library. Finally have a room with all my bookcases and barristers nicely set up. With a comfy chair and a nice lamp.

I'm glad you were able to finally get your S/L of Mister Slaughter! I know you've been searching for awhile.

They don't pop up for sale too often and that auction was a better deal than most. I think the last one to sell on ebay was around $500 or more.

My main growth of books has come from Suntup this year, which I am pleased with, but managed one of my goals.

Later Lettered came my way (sold my numbered) so extremely pleased with that.

Christine and Eyes now firmly in 2022, but depending on work being consistent, may target those sooner rather than later in Q1.

Other than the elusive books that I class as lottery winning purchases, lettered Full Throttle, and numbered Misery my King collection will be as complete as needed.

with the exception of Lyra releases, and future suntup must haves. I don’t see many purchases in 22.
