Actually how is Passion of the Christ farther ahead than Amélie or Hot Fuzz. And why isn't Hot Fuzz way ahead? Come on people... Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy is the best!! (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz & World's End)

I think Amélie is just one of those movies not a lot of people have seen. Hot Fuzz on the other hand loads of people have seen and I'm kinda disappointed at how poorly it's doing, it's such a good movie and maybe the best of the Cornetto trilogy.

Not many have seen it, really? I feel like it was all over the place and a huge deal when it came out.

I've seen the cover of it lots of times but before I watched the trailer, I didn't even know what it was about.

I think it was a big thing in "film circles" but I don't really think it was all that popular with the general public. It doesn't really help that foreign films tend to not really have broad appeal in the US, which is unfortunate for a movie like Amelie, because it really is a good movie.

That and Chocolat are two of the covers I'd always see at Blockbuster. I didn't know what they were about then, and I still don't now.

Until recently talking with some of the folks around here, I've never had any interest in watching Amelie. I own it and my friend's wife has been hounding me to watch it for years.

Please do, it's one of my most favorite films of all time! I mentioned this during the nominations, I think, but remember the internet around 2000-01? Movie trailers back then were not instantly streaming 1080p HD trailers, they were postage-stamp sized MOV files you downloaded over several hours. The Amélie trailer was one of my prized digital possessions at that time. I watched it countless times and ripped the audio track so that I could just listen to the magical score, even with all the sound effects and voices. And even though I took French in high school, I had almost no idea what they were saying but I was enchanted and awed by the visuals (pixelated, tiny and poorly defined as they were) and by Audrey Tautou. Here it is:

Amelie is one I've wanted to watch for a long time. I think it was on my Netflix queue at one point.

This is closing on Monday but The Passion of the Christ and Hot Fuzz are tied for last with Amélie one vote behind! You which one I'd like to see ahead

Just finished watching Amelie. Beautiful film. Is it too late to add a vote? Not that it will matter.

Just did, thanks, but yeah, looks like it won't matter. Still, I'm glad at least one new person experienced this masterpiece!

I only ever knew Audrey Tautou from The DaVinci Code. What a stunningly beautiful woman. Really talented as well. I'm surprised she hasn't been able to more American films.

She's been in a few really good French films though, some fairly recent. My other favorite film of hers is probably Priceless, which I was thinking of nominating but I didn't think many had seen.
