Preorders are open for a small project I am putting together . . . A Guide to U.S. First Editions of Stephen King. A pocket sized guide to helping identify King's first editions. Something I wish I had when I first started colleting SK's works . . .

I absolutly agree that in this digital world, it's as easy as looking things up online . . . but in the spirit of book collecting - real books - I thought it would be fun to put this print project together.

As with the slip cases I build, the bulk of the proceeds of this project (after printing) will be going to my daughter's high school music program. Last year, we purchased a $4K vibraphone for the concert and jazz bands soley through funds raised by selling my custom slipcases . . . this year, we've already bought them new music stands . . . and have some more things in the works, like custom printed, reusable rain ponchos for the marching band. Rather than turning our kiddos into magazine/chocolate/wrapping paper salespersons, I am tapping into an alternative form of fundraising . . .

Thank you to those who have already supported the project . . . means the world to me!

Doesnt seem like a bad project, although we havent seen the inside of it.
Any idea of the shipping to France?

Thanks

pmkane
08-13-2019, 08:22 AM
I'll be posting images of the inside once we're out of the editing phase - doing three stages of editing before going to print.

As for shipping to France, there are international shipping options during check out . . . I know it's different for every country, so I'd hate to quote you something and be wrong.

Just curious about the "19th edition". I assume you use that due to the connection of the number 19? Or is this really the 19th edition? If so, maybe you could show an inside page from a previous edition? Would be interesting to see what kind of details we can expect for each book.

-pmk

Cool idea, very intriguing.
Can you share a little more depth to the project, layout, king of information you'll be providing, etc.
Maybe share one example of one book, like a moderately difficult one.
Is the plan to have 1 page per book.
My apologies if this has already been covered.
Thanks

The book will be 32 pages, pocket sized (3.5x5) and printed here in the US . . . As we're in the editing phase, sharing the layout isn't feasable at the moment . . . and as it's only 32 pages, it won't be one page per book.

Each book will be listed by publisher, publication year, cover artist, and cover price . . . then there will be the markers. I'll be listing stated edition, number lines, gutter codes, printing errors, dust jacket states and color of binding, boards and endpapers for each book.

I can't imagine the pain in my hand if I tried to sign 100 times a day for 10 days. I know King can whip out 200 books in 2 hours or less, but perhaps that's why his current signature is so cramped.

No shipping notice yet, but I'm in the UK, so could be at the back of the queue...

None here either, in Canada so I could also be at the back of the line.

So very glad to hear some of you are getting your books and enjoying them . . . More go out each and every day . . . each of the internation ones need special attention as a customs form needs to be filled out, but I should have them all wrapped up and done in a week's time . . . I am so very happy that everyone seems to really enjoy the book AND the extras, which I had a lot of fun creating!!!

Thank you ALL for the amazing support, encouragement, patience and kindness!!!

I have found the Easter Egg in 'A Guide to U.S. first editions of Stephen King'. To prevent total public moral outrage and the burning of myself and the editor at the stake I will decline to divulge the content of the egg.

So like, what do I win, huh?

Finally got around to opening my package and there are some really cool items thrown in. I do have a small nit pick though. Stephenkingcollector.com is listed as the digital resource for the most up-to-date listings of King First editions.

I believe our catalog to be equally, if not more comprehensive and up to date. Take "If It Bleeds (http://www.thedarktower.org/palaver/showwiki.php?title=Stephen+King+First+Editions:If+ It+Bleeds&redirect=no)" as an example. We've had a listing up for several months now. Tomas hasn't put one up yet.
I'd be interested to know how many Guides were sold as a result of this thread.

I ordered twice. I received the second order today. No shipping notice for the first order yet.

Not that I care too much on this edition, but the earlier orders should really receive the lower numbers IMHO.
