During the first round of The Great Movie Tournament, please vote for up to six films you would like to move onto the next round. The top six films will be moving on. Keep in mind that the percentage of the vote a given film receives will determine its standing going forward.

The poll will run for seven days. Discussion is greatly encouraged!

The nominees are (please let me know if any video doesn't play for you):

I still don't know how MLP got in.

Sadly, Bug hasn't been seen by enough people, I reckon. It's a fucking great film though.

I haven't kept up with these polls because I've (sadly) not seen a lot of the movies listed and feel it unfair to vote. However, coming in here and seeing My Little Pony in the running just blows my mind.

The only time I saw Bug was when I was under the influence of shrooms so I didn't feel confident giving it a vote

You should watch it again. It's right up your alley.

Don’t feel bad, go ahead and vote. No one has seen all 256 nominated films.

I'll vote for the original Solaris when we get to that tournament. The remake was pretty good but I love Tarkovsky and his version better.

I loved that film. Creepy (pun intended), and although it's reported there was a body double for Judd's nude scenes, they were certainly tantalizing.

Have you ever seen a movie where you weren't under the influence?

Because it's so fucking good. Am I right?

I still don't know how MLP got in.

It's a testament to the simplicity of the nomination process (dreams do come true - not that this was my dream).

Two great horror films are tied for last: Antichrist and Bug. Antichrist is the better one for me.

Man, tough choice between Bug and Antichrist but if it comes to it, take my vote away from Bug. Friedkin had one last trick up his sleeve with Killer Joe and I will go for that one in the next tournament.

I know I don't set the rules around here, but it seems that taking away votes (or adding them) after the poll results are close to final is...well, not in the spirit of free and fair voting. Else, I would say "add a vote for Bug" b/c I can't stand Von Trier.

And that will prompt someone else to say "ok; change my vote also" and so on and so on and then where would we be?

My opinion, just let the votes fall out as they may.

I can understand that but I’m hoping people are voting in good faith for movies they like and not against movies they don’t. Taking votes away is probably not a good idea, but if someone didn’t vote or would have voted but didn’t, we can add that before the poll closes if it helps to avoid a tiebreaker. A tie in these last groups means Round 2 is delayed and there will be more polls to post daily, than the fairly easy four a day four days out of seven for two weeks.

Killer Joe is fuuuuucked up but it's awesome.

Plus, I love Juno Temple.

Only 23 votes here and we've had up to 27 votes in other polls so hopefully with about 15 hours to go the tie between Antichrist and Bug will be broken.
