It took them 3 weeks to get back to me, but Waterstreet Books is selling copies of Dark Carousel signed. BUY HERE (http://www.waterstreetbooks.com/product/signed-dark-carousel-lp)

They aren't the best of fastest about returning emails. I still have yet to hear from them. Thanks for the link, Dez!

Wait, what exactly do they mean by "Joe is signing the slipcover?" They can't be having him sign the cover, right? That's like signing the dust jacket instead of the title page.

Unless you're an in-demand A-list celebrity this will devalue the record. Have him sign the insert at least.

There are going to be no issues with demand on these. I am sure it will sell out but vinyl is a niche product even for someone as popular as Joe Hill. 2500 is actually an enormous number for limited vinyl in the record collecting scene. Some popular bands put out 1500 copies and it takes forever to sell through them. This would be better at a 1000 run max and even then I don't think it would sell through on preorders.

I am sure Joe will be signing the cover. That is the usual practice with records and I agree I think it devalues it a bit.

Brian I know you'll see this :)

You told me about a book last summer that's a graphic novel by another author that Joe did the introduction to. Do you happen to remember the name of it and if it's out yet?
I ordered it from Water Street last May and haven't received it. I emailed them but as stated above you know how slow they are and their order confirmation email doesn't have the title in it. I can't remember the freakin' name to see if it's been published yet.

Did anyone that ordered the signed Dark Carousel get a confirmation yet? I haven't yet and no money has left my account. I just did it a few days ago though...

Hi. Lori. Sorry for the delay. I haven't been on here since yesterday morning.

The book is titled Behind You: One-Shot Horror Stories by Brian Coldrick. And that is a huge delay! I've received mine several months back and I had to wait to get it personalized. It's odd that your order confirmations don't have the titles in them. Mine always do. Water Street cost themselves a lot more in postage when I ordered a large number of books from them. They kept forgetting a book here and a book there and my order confirmation was my only saving grace. I forwarded it back to them. Plus, they forget to have Joe sign a few. That got taken care of though. I get irradiated with them but it's pretty much the only source I have for getting them signed.

I received my order confirmation the next day from them for DC and requested that it be personalized. Payment has already went through and it's listed in the order confirmation email. I have two more on order so for some reason you don't get one, let me know. I've been really paranoid about this one getting screwed up order wise.

In reviewing Noah M.'s collection thread (post# 391), I note that he posted in regards to the Heart Shaped Box Lettered Edition by Hill that "[a]pparently there was a problem at the bindery and 6 of the traycases were either destroyed or were unable to be completed, so only 9 copies of the planned 15 were actually sold." I checked in with Noah M. and he does not recall the source for this statement. Also, I emailed Bill with Subterranean and because the release was over 10 years ago, he doesn't remember anything off hand that suggests less than 15 were produced. In any event, it's a very rare book, but I was curious if anyone has any information regarding this issue. Thanks for the help!

I hope it's just a one off, AMC has a tendency to stretch things out to make extra $.
Charlie Manx will be a really hard character to cast and play. He could end up being cheesy if done wrong.

What happened with Locke and Key? I thought Hulu picked it up and they've filmed a pilot?
I agree, Manx will be hard to cast but if they get it right can you imagine the possibilities? AMC has done some quality programming and should allow for a decent budget so my hopes are high for this. I agree though, it needs to be contained and not turned into a gazillion season series ala The Walking Dead.

Neat! How is the story?
And I'm guessing there's a download code, but usually when I buy vinyl from amazon they give a digital version too but it doesn't seem that way for this one.

It's weird how Joe's Kindle stuff and this appear to be a Joe Hill "Branding" same font, one color background and a single image for each story. I kind of like that. I wonder if that's his decision or the marketing bros.

Dark Carousel Release Party notes.
It was a dark and stormy night. No shit, it was really raining hard! The venue was a small art gallery, with 40 or so in attendance. Joe spoke for a couple of minutes then read about 10 minutes worth of the Dark Carousel story. After finishing he talked about the history of the story, it coming from a story he told his kids when the were young but that he never felt there would be an outside audience interested in it. This release represents the third incarnation of his original idea.

He talked about how it was originally called Wild Horses and the struggles of trying to get permission from ABKCO records to use the name and include a cover of the song. This is why the name changed from Wild Horses, to Dark Carousel, and if it is included in a later collection wil be renamed again to “ABKCO Records Can Go Suck A Horses Cock”. And yes, that is a direct quote from Joe.

During the signing process, I did ask about the 250 pages he had finished for the new story. He said he didn’t like to talk about works in progress, but that he is pleased with where it is going. When I asked what percentage of the finished product this 250 pages represented he didn’t hesitate to respond with a “half way”.

All in all it was another fun niqht!

What Chris neglected to mention was that he asked Joe which band he would want to play at his funeral( much of the talk centered around rock and roll) and after a little discussion he finally settled on Oasis or at least one of the Gallagher brothers.
Someone asked about the Locke and Key show and he said all hope is not lost. He didn't elaborate but mentioned that others are looking at it and it's still being shopped around so fingers crossed! He also stated that NOS4A2 should premiere fall 2019
As Chris said it was a pretty intimate affair, not a lot of people in attendance but still a nice turn out for what was essentially an art gallery opening with Joe being a bonus.
I brought my replica Creepshow voodoo doll which he signed and had Dark Carosuel signed. I explained that I already had all of his books signed and was just waiting on the CD limited of Strange Weather. He looked up and said yeah, you know they take their time( not a knock on CD if you see this Brian! He also said it was going to be great. Which we already know ;) )
We took a couple of pics with him stabbing the doll with a great Creepshow look on his face. I love that he's such an amiable guy.
Got to hang with Chris and his wife and a couple other friends so it was a great night!

I have an extra copy of the Dark Carousel LP, maybe two. Waiting to hear back on one of them. If you're interested, shoot me a PM. It/they will be totally on the house including shipping. Probably will be next week before I can get 'em out to ya.

That is so kind of you, Brian! I gotta "spread it around" so I can't give you positive rep, but what a nice gesture!

Thanks, Dez! I Repped you for wanting to rep me :)

P.S. I down to a hand full of the audio books before they'll be headed back your way.

Take your time, Brian. I am reading 11/22/63 which is 30 CDs, and I just started #6. Gonna be enjoying this one for awhile!

I know someone is trying to sell one for $119 on eBay saying it is sold out but Waterstreet still has them available for retail. They are signed, not sure if they have unsigned. http://www.waterstreetbooks.com/product/signed-dark-carousel-lp

Bottom right corner when you open the sleeve is a QR code. that takes you to the link. If you are still having issues PM me and I'll shoot you the link (don't have it in front of me right now).

I might be selling some Joe Hill signed/limited editions soon and was wondering if there is a Thread for Joe Hill #'s so I can make sure the right person gets to match any numbers they want for their Joe Hill or King books.

Or is this that thread somewhere on a post in history?

thx for any insight

Okay, I just listed them (and referenced a BUNCH of other authors I'm selling I think) all on the Other Author Classified section so less confusing.

THAT BEING SAID, HERE IS THE LIST BUT PLEASE MOVE RESPONSES OVER TO CLASSIFIED LISTING I DID. THX
Okay, that seems easy way to do it. I need to verify prices on some internet sites unless someone has easy fair pricing list as I've not done that yet, but maybe nobody wants any of them so doesn't matter.

I have a list that I think is still accurate. Here we go...

20th Century Ghosts; 1st/1st Signed and Joe Hill Remarque
20th Century Ghosts; S/L #95
Gunpowder; 1 of 200; S/L #65
Heart Shaped Box; S/L #319 out of 1300
Horns S/L; #276 out of 500. Joe Hill Remarque
Horns; UK; 1st/1st Signed with Joe Hill Remarque
The Saved; S/L; #61
Better Than Home (x2); Purchased from the original publisher years ago (so legit over fake ones I think read somewhere)
Pop Art Chap Book; S/L; #138/150 only
GHOST Key; S/L; Original Locke and Key release from Comicon I think in 2009. #6 out of 500 keys so pretty awesome low number.
The Fireman; signed; 1st/1st
The Fireman; Signed and inscription reads something like, "Hey! Put my books on top of my dad's on the bookshelf!"

Hi,
Is your S/L 20th Century Ghosts a PS slipcased with the yellow/orange dust jacket? If so I'm interested. Board member Beverly Marsh recently sold one on eBay and it ended at $177. Sending offer through messages.

Is anyone in the market for a 20th Century Ghosts, PS Publishing signed trade hardback edition? This is the one limited to 500 signed by Joe Hill only, not the 1/200 slipcased limited signed by Hill and Chris Golden. This copy is brand new, never read in beautiful condition. Looking for $325 OBO for it. Shipping included to the U.S. EMAIL me at JonathanReitan@gmail.com for pics and serious offers.

Why are you excluding audiobooks? I think it would be a good resource to have. Since they are different in ways of narrators and there might be cast readings later on like Locke and Key. It's always good to know if an audio version of a piece that's in a multi-author collection is available as well.

Thanks for asking. Primary reason is that I don’t collect audiobooks, ebooks and largeprint myself so I haven’t got much info on those. But if more people are interested I can always look into adding these formats.

You’re correct that a couple of months ago it was reported that Netflix was considering picking up L&K but only a couple of days ago Netflix actually confirmed the project.
As for Revolution, Joe’s mentioned several times over the last couple of years that he’d like to make a new L&K series which take place during the various wars. Each story arc focussed on one particular time of war. Apparently Revolution is the name of the first arc :)

Let's discuss the Joe Hill market shall we?
I collect him because I enjoy his writing as many of us do. Do I consider "investment" purposes when buying an S/L? Sure. However, concerning the investment with Hill I'm not so sure there is one. I fairly recently sold three of the higher end S/L's and did not even make my money back on any of them. They all sold for less than what I paid. Which makes me wonder if S/L's are needed with him since he signs everything under the sun anyway which I appreciate. Need a signed book? Call Waterstreet or hit him up on the road! On the other hand, I am looking forward to CD's S/L of Strange Weather because it will be an amazing production typical of CD. Will it's value appreciate though? I'm not so sure.
I love the books and stories so I'm just throwing this out there to maybe get a little discussion going. This is a collectors forum after all :)

Joe does have some very valuable editions out there but I agree, it's more about collecting Joe than investing. I personally don't look at any of my collection as an investment but as something I really enjoy doing. Hence probably why my collection isn't worth much to anyone but me lol.

Pretty much what Brian said. Short term value? Probably not much. Long term? Will have to wait and see. For me it is a pleasure in his writing with a dash of "hey, this is a collection I have a chance of actually completing someday" unlike someone else's I could mention.....

I'm fairly certain that everything I've purchased for my Joe Hill collection has appreciated in value since purchase. :orely:

Perhaps not as much as Steve's books, but I'm sure I haven't lost anything.

Looking at my Hill collection, I think the only things that might have appreciated significantly are the S/Ls that I bought direct from the publisher or on publication. I think there's a jump in the secondary market, but then pretty slow appreciation after that.

Anything I bought on the secondary market is probably worth about what I paid for it. Ditto for the signed trades.

I sold the UK NOS4A2 for above issue price but when you factor in the UK to Canada shipping and eBay fees, I broke even. I couldn't even get issue price for UK The Fireman.

I'd agree with that, Peter. Some of the Locke & Key comics issues can be pretty pricy. I'm curious to see how the upcoming TV shows will affect values as it might turn on a whole different group of folks to Joe. But I'm sure a ton of people wouldn't jump up and all the sudden get the collecting bug.

I'm sure CD's upcoming S/L will appreciate over time. It looks to be an awesome production.

I purchased a 1st/1st UK NOS4A2 above issue price and it wasn't an easy book for me to find. Most seemed to be selling 1st/2nd.

The Fireman just wasn't a very good book. I think I got the PS edition for half off the issue price about a year after publication.

For those who are not subscribed to my newsletter, here’s some exciting news. Please note that this information is unconfirmed by the publisher(s) and subject to change.
In a recent interview with a Polish magazine, Joe revealed a bit of info about his upcoming projects.
First up is a new short story collection, titled Full Throttle planned for a late 2019 release. This is followed by a new novel for 2020, tentatively titled Up The Chimney Down.
Again, this is all unconfirmed, but I expect we’ll be seeing more info in the months to come.

NOS4A2 casting news:
New Spock is Charlie Manx
Zachary Quinto
Vic is
Ashleigh Cummings

Pretty good casting but troubling news is that it's being sold as multiple seasons...uggh.
I will say that AMC is doing a better job with The Preacher this year. But a Terror-like adaptation would have been way more interesting.

Good for you! And same here. In my 25+ years of collecting I think the signed/limited edition of ‘Salem’s Lot from Centipede was the most expensive edition I bought straight from the publisher. Since then, I added a couple of lettered Joe Hills to my collection but at a lower price than this signed/limited. Just looks at those pics...couldn’t help falling in love with this one :) would’ve gone for a lettered as well if I didn’t have to plunder my boys’s college funds for that or take a 2nd mortgage....some day I may be able to buy one

All of the editions are gorgeous, but I have to say what really got me about the Suntup Edition of Horns was the artwork.

The artist is amazing and I really hope we see a sale on some prints or a portfolio to go with the books.

Recently purchased a copy of the PS Publishing lettered edition of The Fireman
However my copy seems to be missing the bonus material (2 deleted chapters)??? My lettered copy has the same number of chapters as the limited and there’s no special section at the end of the book (a similar thing happened with the traycased PS Publishing edition of Horns). Anyone here have a copy of the lettered and willing to check theirs?

I don't have this edition but I do have a "lettered" PS book that is actually from a lifetime subscriber which is a numbered edition with a letter. Are you sure you purchased the lettered edition and not a lifetime subscriber copy (numbered edition with letter)?

Yep, that's the one. Thanks, Jeff. I didn't want to reply with quote and repost the large photo. Google turned up nada when I did a search there. Glad some of you folks are better at it than I :)

Looking at my copies, I have one copy where the book boards are grey and the other copy all blue.

Anyone know why Sub Press did two different colors? Anyone seen this before?

When I get home, I will try to post the two books for everyone to see.

Numbers #1 - #200 were the Deluxe Limited Edition, whereas #201 - #500 were just the Limited Edition.

Although both editions were signed by Joe Hill, the Deluxe Limited featured additional content such as: the deleted first chapter, printed as an appendix; an exclusive afterword by Joe Hill and two two-color illustrations.

Check the # on the two copies you have - I think you may have a copy of both editions.

Sorry for saying 101-500, it should be 201-500. 1 through 200 is Deluxe Limited Edition (with extra chapter) and 201-500 is signed limited edition. Both stated on dust jacket.

Camelot Books has one of the 201-500 at $375 and the rarer deluxe 1-200 at $700.

Betts is selling one of the 201 for $325. My guess on the deluxe is between $600-700.

Hmm.
Now that I look, mine is indeed the deluxe edition with blue boards, but it is a PC copy.
What's the bump for that, 10% less or is this edition in enough demand that it won't really subtract anything?

I've been thinking of selling the few Joe Hill books that I have.

It’s a strange one indeed. I ordered my copy a couple of months ago on amazon.de and was quite surprised when I received it a couple of weeks ago. I knew there’d be a paperback edition of this collection as I was informed about this by the editor, but it wouldn’t be available until after the release of Subterranean’s limited.
It looks as if this paperback is printed on demand, using content and cover material from the editor. My copy states “printed in Poland on fulfillment by Amazon” on the last page, but no printing information, copyright information, ISBN or published price.

Here's the back cover and back page of my copy, Marco. I received mine from Amazon (US) as that's the only place I could find selling it. It's dated like it would be overseas, not in the US. Mr. Block maybe the one to reach out to in regards as to how to identify a true 1st of this title.

LB addressed the issue of why it was produced ahead of the sold-out HC in a recent email newsletter. (And for anyone looking to contact him, lawbloc@gmail.com is the published address that has worked for me in the past.)

Basically, selling the ebook and paperback early because of Amazon:

Here's where it gets complicated. Amazon has never stopped offering the hardcover for sale. They've even been dropping the price of late, and the last I looked they had this $50 book on pre-order for the low low price of $33.06.

That's quite a bargain. What's the catch?

The catch? They don't have any books. I'm sure it's an honest mistake on their part, and that they figure they'll get their order in before the end of April and will thus be able to fill whatever orders they get. That usually works fine, but not with limited erditions that the publisher is enjoined from reprinting. Now it's possible Amazon may be able to round up some copies from distributors, but even that's by no means a sure thing, and I can't believe they'll haul in enough copies that way to fill all the orders they've been getting.

So if I ordered a hardcover of AHITD from them—

You may get it. But there's an awfully good chance that you won't.

That doesn't seem right.

No kidding. Bill Schafer at Subterranean finds the whole prospect very dismaying, and gave me the go-ahead to start selling the ebook and paperback editions right away, rather than hold back until the end of April.

You're saying they're available right now? The AHITD ebook and the paperback?

The ebook's been available for pre-order for a while. What we've been able to do now is move up the release date from April 30 to March 19. If you already pre-ordered it, you don't have to do a thing; it'll be delivered to you on Tuesday, March 19. If you held off out of a reluctance to place an order ages ahead of time, you can order now—and get your ebook on Tuesday.

And the paperback?

Amazon doesn't do pre-orders for POD paperbacks. So it's live right now. All you have to do is order it.
