Somebody told me the other day that American Beauty is the second worst film to ever win best picture. It took ever ounce of willpower not to thrash him.

What was the first? The Greatest Show on Earth?

Most people think it's Crash.

Forrest Gump wasn't the worst to win, but it's a shame it beat out Pulp Fiction. Crash was a good movie, but won as an apology, feel good film for members of the academy.

Birdman wins for worst ever. Not even close

I really enjoyed Birdman, but I can see where it's not everyone's cup of tea though. I still can't believe Forest Gump beat Pulp Fiction. That movie is a struggle to watch.

I love both Forest Gump and Pulp Fiction!

+1. I really liked it, but it was odd.

At least I could finish Gump (which was no prize); I had to bail about a half hour into Pulp Fiction. Everybody raves about it, but I just couldn't take it. It was like a thematic one-joke SNL skit that takes itself too seriously, played straight and for 90 minutes (which may be how some see Birdman).
