TAYLOR HACKFORD IN TALKS TO DIRECT STEPHEN KING’S ‘DUMA KEY’ ADAPTATION
(https://thegww.com/exclusive-taylor-hackford-in-talks-to-direct-stephen-kings-duma-key-adaptation/)
After spending years in development, ‘Dolores Claiborne’ director Taylor Hackford is in talks to helm the upcoming adaption of ‘Duma Key’ at Legendary and Optx Entertainment. David Chackler, EJ Meyers, and Ethan Terra are producing the pic with a script originally written by Tom Holland.

The book of the same name follows a man named Edward Freemantle as he loses everything and moves to an island on the coast of Florida called Duma Key. There, he takes up painting as a hobby to keep him occupied, but he soon realizes that his paintings hold a dark power.

Hackford is currently in pre-production on a movie called ‘Signal Hill’, which will star Elizabeth Banks, Anthony Mackie, and Jamie Foxx. The last update on the movie was in October 2017, so there’s a chance ‘Duma Key’ happens first if Hackford signs on.

I don't seem to recall anything about a Duma Key movie in development in 2017, and we don't have a news thread about it from back then. Weird.

I couldn't find anything about movie rights or adaptations on my blog, either.

Okay that makes sense. That article is just a bit clumsily written then.

One of my favorites also. I started it and got bored at first. Picked it back up a couple years later, loved it.
Someday I will pick up Revival again.
Someday I will pick up Lisey's Story for a 3rd time, maybe.

Duma Key felt like vintage 80s King IMO.

I still think that this article was a fake, pretending to have an exclusive article.
No "known" websites seems to have taken that news back

I really liked Duma Key. Liseys Story and Revival on audio. They can all be bought cheap at 1/2 price bookstore. Same way with Heart shaped box and Fireman. Have you tried audio books? It seems to me that some of these books are hard to start in print.

I mainly do audible.com for the last 4 years because of time. Finished Revival last month and loved it. Half through The Institute and love it, one of SK's best so far.... Gonna read (actually read) The Prophet- Michael Koryta or The Troop-Nick Cutter, on the flight from San Francisco to Boston and back in a couple weeks next. Lisey's Story in back on my list for a 3rd try, but audio this time.

The Prophet is fantastic. One of my favorite Korytas. Hope you enjoy it, too.
