I know that reading order is probably not important. But since i am only starting out with King books and i have 26 of them on the shelf, well you probably dont need a long boring explanation so here is the list in no particular order :

it
the stand
regulators
desperation
misery
the dead zone
salems lot
night shift
blaze
the mist
dark half
dreamcatcher
firestarter
pet sematary
dolores claiborne
geralds game
needful things
green mile
duma key
cell
liseys story
cujo
under the dome
bag of bones

I would always suggest to stick to publication order.

Thanks, Yes that was my original plan.

So Salems lot, night shift, the stand, dead zone, cujo are up first

Agreed. In the earlier books it's not a big deal. But in a lot of the later books you'll start seeing references to characters or events from other books that you might miss if you haven't read them in order. In fact, the five that you mention reading first I know for sure are referenced in later books.

I second (third? fourth?) the suggestion of publication order. In fact, that's pretty much my rule for any author, any series.
