King shared it on his twitter account a few minutes ago. He is a fun follow (particularly if you dislike Trump's politics)

Stephen has written a new short story, "Laurie," which is available now as a free download exclusively on stephenking.com. You may download and/or print the story for yourself or to pass along to others, but may not charge any money to share it.

First SK.com exclusive since "Calla Bryn Sturgis", I believe.

Ah cool thanks. I do follow him, I just don’t check Twitter too much anymore. Yes, it’s a fun follow when I do check haha.

Good story. Not one of his all-time greats for sure, but it hooked me and had some really good King-isms to squirrel away for later.

This is the story he mentioned Molly inspired him (during the interview with Beachcomber Magazine)

:) My pleasure. I liked it. This is the story Molly inspired, as he mentioned during a recent interview.

Here's King's tweet, by the way, for the record:

I'm posting a brand new short story, if you want to read it--think of it as an appetizer to the main course, THE OUTSIDER, coming next week. The story is free. Read, print, share, whatever. Go to my website or click the link. Enjoy! https://goo.gl/Xz6BiQ

I am guessing that it will be added to the mass paperback release of THE OUTSIDER

King should've done a quick edit and renamed it "Laurel"

But why wouldn’t it be spelled correctly? Y-a-n-n-i

I read Laurie a couple of days ago. A very touching sweet story, I thought. (Even including the dark stuff.)

If this is a precursor to The Outsider, what’s the betting the neighbour was not actually killed by the alligator after all? That Ms. Crunch (my name, not Mr. King’s. ) just happened across a murdered victim and took advantage of a free meal, home delivered, so to speak?

The story doesn't have any relation with The Outsider
