Just a hint at an upcoming auction. No prize, but try and figure out what it is.

I’m guessing something Mr. Mercedes related. I think I see a smiley face a car in there somewhere.

I still can't see the image. I stare and it gets "3-D ish", but no underlying image for me. Anyone else see something?

Stereograms are so wild. Seriously, how did someone come up with that. Beer helps for sure

Nonetheless this is exciting.

lol, my eyes have always seen the image as sunken in, rather than standing out. That being said, I see a big hand giving me the finger.

It's a little harder to see the image as it is in effect duplicated across the two end pages. It's also easier to see in printed form rather than on a computer screen.

Here it is as just one page:

Funny enough I see an extra line on the second number. Looks like there is a line coming down from the round to the point.

It seems from the comments that many of us see the hidden message, but are trying not to spoil it for other members. Or you do mean we’re not guessing the actual item?

Yes, that has bugged me since creation. Strangely, depending on the angle viewed (or focus point) it disappears. It's not actually there, just an optical illusion caused by the alignment of the background image.

I appreciate to those that can't see anything, this just sounds like gibberish!

Here are some pics of the book. We chose 19 stories from 1st edition trade hardback King books including Skeleton Crew, Nightmares and Dreamscapes, Hearts in Atlantis, Everything's Eventual, Just After Sunset, and Bazaar of Bad Dreams. We did not use any stories from Night Shift as the page block is smaller than all of the other books.

The title page and copyright page from each book we used are bound near the back of the book. At the end of the book is an acknowledgement page. There is no Table of Contents. This was done purposefully to encourage the book owner to be somewhat surprised as to what stories are included.

There are 8 pieces of original art, and one print bound in the book. The print is of a piece from Glenn Cadbourne that was too large to bind in the book. The winner of the auction will receive the original piece as a bonus.

stroppygoblin created the 3-D images used for the endpapers and liner of the slipcase as well as the "19" title pages used for each story.

The book itself is bound in custom dyed Italian Goatskin, and has a wonderful texture to it.

Here are 21 pics I took recently. It's easier for page loading to just put the links in. You can right click on the URL and open the image in a separate tab if you like.

Damn shame we don't/didn't have a means to get it signed. You guys think it would add any value/coolness if I were able to get sigs from the artists?

Of course, if someone were to win the auction and the Grand Prize they could have king sign it!!!! Talk about a "one of a kind"!!!! lol lol

Another thought. Even though the fund raiser will be no more after this year, what do you folks think about maybe doing one of these "one of a kind" re-binds every year and donating the proceeds to charity?

The artists already signed/initialed every piece of original art.

Were the auction winner to also win the Grand Prize, and if we make our stretch goal, an exception would be made to allow them to submit a custom/rebound book.

What an amazing volume. Mind blown. The texture on the book is insane.

Are the pages literally taken from first edition copies of the relevant books, or are they reproduced from those editions? I'm amazed the colour of the page block is so uniform.

Dude, EVERY part of one of these things is crucial!!! Having said that I have to admit, Jerome does have a "knack" for the whole binding materials/production, doesn't he? Of course now his head will be so big he'll keep tipping over!!! lol lol lol

Yep. Tore up several 1/1 books to comprise this volume. The relevant CP pages are bound into the book in the back if I recall. That's why we didn't utilize "Night Shift" because the page block is so radically different.
