The 2018 Dt.Org Fundraiser kicks off January 19th and will run through May 19, 2018.
Last year we raised over $15,400! Our goal this year is a modest $10,000.
Stephen King's Haven Foundation is no longer taking public donations. Therefore we will be donating to several different charities.

The first $5,000 we raise will be donated to the Bangor Public Library. This endowment will be in the name of TheDarkTower.org and will create funds to be used every year for the library. Like a trust fund, the endowment will generate over $250 a year (in theory in perpetuity) in the name of our site, and we can specify a subject or genre for the funds to be used for.

The next $1,000 will be donated to a library(s) in the Sarasota Florida area.

Any additional funds we raise will be divided among several charities including but not limited to: The Shriners Fund, and one or more of the charities suggested by The Haven Foundation here. (http://www.thehavenfdn.org/links)

At the top of every page is a donation widget. Keep in mind that $10 gets you an entry for the grand prize. $200 total gets the max 20 entries.
Last year there were less than 150 unique donors and less than 400 total entries.
Pretty good odds considering the prizes.

We are streamlining this year’s event to make it easier to manage and hopefully increase the donation total.
Several book dealers have already committed to donating things that will either be used as giveaways, or auctioned off-we are hoping for more once this official announcement is posted.

100% of the net proceeds from all cash, check, Paypal gift donations and Ebay (http://www.ebay.com/) auctions will be forwarded to the mentioned charities (Ebay (http://www.ebay.com/) ad insertion, commission, shipping fees and shipping materials are the expenses that will be paid from the Gross proceeds).

Every person who donates $10 or more, or donates an item used for auction or giveaway (donors need to contact me in advance before sending potential items) will receive one entry into our giveaway*-maximum 20 entries per donor. Items for the giveaway have yet to be finalized, but rest assured they will be really exciting and cool! Please use the donation "widget" that is atop each forum page.

Stephen King has kindly agreed to personalize one of his books to our Grand Prize Winner!**

Personal Paypal donations must be noted as a “Gift” so that Paypal does not take a commission.
The Paypal address is Crownandcola@aol.com (Name is Dolores, don't freak out)

Hey J just so you know when you donate the Receipt still says DT.org ad free.
My apology. I believe that is fixed. Rest assured that any donations made beginning 1/19/2018 (There has been only one $20 donation so far) will go towards the DT.Org fundraiser benefiting the Bangor Public library and others.

Donated! Thanks for fundraising for such great library causes! I volunteer at my local library - might seem nerdy but it's a great way to help the community with something people seem to care less and less about, and you get to be surrounded by books. It's a win-win! :excited:

I could be wrong, but I believe, Jerome doubled down this year. Max entries into the drawing doubled as well and you can submit your own book (w/ some restrictions) for signature if you win the Grand Prize. Check the other threads, but I think I have it right, Patty-boy!!! lol lol

You know what? I think you're right. He only doubled the max entries/donation for the Prize drawing. So, you can donate $10 and get AN entry. However, $20 a pop will get you to the max 20 entries a heckuva lot faster, right? lol lol

Anyway, Patrick-my-boy you need to throw in a nice number for the benefit of St. Patty, no? lol lol Just think of all those snakes no longer in Ireland!!!! lol

I think it's still $10/entry but you can get up to 20 entries for $200 donation. Is that right?

Also is a book donation 1 entry or more, I'm still confused at that?

Question 2 I think it depends on general value (before any enhancements), but I punt that question to, Jerome.

A $10 donation gets a person one entry into the drawing.
The maximum number of entries is 20 entries (thus $200 in cash or items auctioned that total $200 or more).
Donated books that are auctioned, count as a donation. A book that auctions for $100 gets 10 entries for the person who donated it. A book that auctions for $150 gets 15 entries. Any book that auctions for $200 or more gains the max 20 entries.

Cool because I thought the whole time the book was only 1 entry, so I'm already ahead of the game as I've put in $60 plus whatever the book gets. I still plan on donating more cash before it's over and for sure make the 20 entries!

Furthermore, the former "Haven fund whore" and his cohorts have had a good last few days and while I am not at liberty to divulge details, suffice to say that there are some very exciting, unique and totally awesome items recently committed to the cause that you should all be on the look out for in the coming weeks.

Remember, this is our last fundraiser EVER and conversely YOUR last chance to secure some of the unique, one of a kind, King collectible items we have become known for in the past!!! The annual fundraiser has a storied history of offering some of the more spec ial King collectible's generally not available through normal retail channels. Don't miss out!!! In years to come you will live to regret it, mark my words!!!!!

You can't win if you don't donate at least $10.

FWIW, according to, Ned and our discussion about the remarque it is a true 1/1 original piece of art. It will not be done again. It's the "Jawbone" that sets it apart from other similar pieces.

Just a little background info. On 10/20/2017 10/6/2017, Stephen and Owen King did the last stop on the "Sleeping Beauties" tour at a library in Sarasota Florida. We invited Don Maitz to meet a group of us for drinks and food prior to the event, and a member was kind enough to comp Maitz a ticket. Don sat right behind me, and during the Q&A and reading was working on a sketch pad. He knocked out the watercolor image in literally minutes.
After the event, Maitz showed me the piece, and I begged him to consider donating it for our fundraiser. He said he'd think about it.
Not only did Maitz donate the piece, but he was able to get Stephen King to sign it!

Nope I have not been personally involved with it.
If i remember correctly what I read, he apologised and said to 1-2 people to contact them. That doesnt necessarily mean that he was trying to fix things for everything that was disappointed. But once again that's only what I remember and I can obviously be wrong.

Therefore that was my thought : before contributing to help a Public Library, first try to fix things with the damages that you've done to your own business?

Allow me to enlighten you The fundraiser will not only offer support 2 libraries, one in Maine and one in Florida, but it will (as it stands right now) make a sizable, four figure contribution to "The Shriner Hospitals for Children" an absolutely wonderful charity and organization that performs miracles for sick & suffering children. Perhaps you should consider contributing something to the cause yourself and worry less about what folks are doing.

I may be biased, but I applaud NRB for their commitment to a deserving cause!!! What they do or don't do regarding their business has nothing whatsoever to do with the fact that they made a donation to a worthy cause. IMHO anyway.

Check them out.......................................

Okay, folks this is it. The final push for the final week of the last fundraiser!!!! Time to pony up what you can. Get those entries in for the Grand Prize drawing (the last time King will sign and personalize a book for us). The first time that the winner will be able to select a book for signature from his/her own collection!!!! Everything donated from here on in will increase our donation to the Shriners Hospitals for Children a truly worthy organization, helping sick and suffering children from all walks of life.

We still have a few whopper type auctions in store for you folks so, keep your eyes open to see when the auctions go live!! Really, one of a kind type stuff you will not want to miss out on!!! Eveyone who has participated, contributed and supported the fundraiser this year and in years past should pat themselves on the back for a job well done. On behalf of myself please accept my profound thanks and admiration to all of you folks out there who have contributed, big or small. Every little bit counts so, THANK YOU!!!!!

Lest I (we) forget I wanted to acknowledge and say a special THANK YOU to all the artists and publishers who have generously contributed their time, efforts and resources to insure the success of our fund raiser, not only this year, but over the years we have been doing this for charity. Not to belittle the contributions of others (who have all been very generous and a pleasure to deal with), but there are a few folks who deserve a little 'Special" recognition for their selfless contributions, dedication and support over the years. Without the help of these folks it just wouldn't even approach the levels of success we have managed over the years. So a special "THANK YOU" to, Don Maitz, Ned Dameron and all the folks over at Cemetery Dance Publications!!!!

It should also be noted once again that the fundraiser would not happen were it not for our fearless leader, Jerome Smith (a.k.a. Randall Flagg). He doesn't endorse any fanfare, but the time, effort and dedication that he and his family put into making this thing a success every year is nothing short of AMAZING!!!!!

I don't mean to belittle the efforts and contributions of the many, many others who help to make this a success every year. There is just too many of you out there to list individually, but you know who you are and you deserve a pat on the back, each and every one of you whether big or small. Every little bit helps to make the whole a success!! So, a huge THANKS to all of you folks out there as well!!!!

There are still a few auction items to be had for those lucky few. I think we may have topped ourselves once again with the rarity and overall "coolness" of the items still up for auction. Also, there is still time to get donations in on the widget and garner those entries into the GRAND PRIZE DRAWING!!!

Thanks again to all who have so selflessly given of themselves to make the world just a little bit better for those less fortunate!!!!:clap::clap:

$17219.19 in 2015. I think that will be tough to match or exceed, but we have a shot at $15K.

Yeah, I thought our best number might be a bit out of reach, but hey $15k would be more than respectable. Heck, where we are so far is impressive!!! Great job, folks!!!!

If you are on the fence about donating to the fundraiser, or hesitant about the amount, here's some incentive (for one person at least):

$16,000!!

When it's all said and done, this will likely be our second greatest fundraiser (as determined by total raised) ever, and has a very small chance of being the best ($17,219.19)

The wife and I are on vacation for a couple of days.
AFAIK, everything has been shipped. When I return, I'll get the entries together, hoping BJF from Cemetery Dance will conduct the drawing.
If all goes well, the winner will be announced in early June.

The winner will have 10 days...if USA to get the book to me. International winner would be allowed 14 days.
Insurance if desired is incumbent upon the sender

Well, the end of another fundraiser and purportedly our last and I would like to thank everyone that participated. Either you donated books, bid on auctions, helped promote or, just threw into the widget. No contribution was too small or too big. It takes all of us in this unique community to make the fundraiser successful year in and year out. So, feel free to pat yourselves on the back as we posted a near record tally this, our final year!!!!!

Thank You Everyone!!!!!

Now begs the question, what the fuck am I gonna do with myself around hear now????? lol lol lol At least, Jerome has a job!!!! lol lol lol

Finalizing the entries now. FYI, there are less than 100 unique individuals and less than 750 entries in the drawing. VERY likely the winner will be someone we all know from the board.

I'll be posting a separate thread with rules and procedures for the winner to submit their Stephen King book for an inscription.
