quote]As Matt said in the other thread (http://www.thedarktower.org/palaver/showthread.php?t=1973) about our charity drive, we’ve decided the best way to celebrate our one year anniversary is to give something back to the community that has given us all so much.

Our goal is to raise at least $1,000 before May 19, 2008. Of course, we intend to strive for much more than that – but you have to start somewhere!

During the week of May 12th thru May 18th we are going to be doing a major event, culminating in our One Year Celebration on May 19th. There will be raffle prizes, surprises, games, and all sorts of fun things going on.

There are several ways you can contribute.

1. Make a Paypal donation (http://www.thedarktower.org/palaver/billspaypal.php).

2. Buy something from thedarktower.org store (http://www.cafepress.com/growbag) – all proceeds are donated to the Haven Foundation.

3. Purchase one of the items we will have in our upcoming auctions – all items were donated by the seller, so all proceeds will go to the Haven Foundation. Not only do you get to buy something, you know the proceeds are going to a good cause!

4. You can also donate an item to be auctioned or given away as a prize during our giveaway. We aren't just talking about donating collectibles, but also art (original or prints), Dark Tower or SK memorabilia, and any other items King or Dark Tower related. No item is too big or too small to be donated. We will be holding "featured" auctions each week, as well as a major giveaway during our charity drive. If you want to donate 100% of the proceedings of your item to The Haven Foundation, please contact Hannah for guidelines and other information you will need prior to making a donation.

5. Participate in the giveaway we will be holding for prizes during the one week event.

6. Spread the word! Tell anyone you know who might be interested. Word-of-mouth is a great way to get more members at the site, and more contributions to give to Haven Foundation.

7. Purchase a one day announcement in the marquee running at the top of the page of the site. We are selling a one day announcement for $25. If you are interested PM Matt with the message you’d like to run in the marquee. Messages will most likely be approved, as long as the message contains no gratuitous profanity or derogatory content. Once your message is approved, make payment and it will run the next day until Midnight, EST.

8. We know that there may be some out there who’d like to give but just don’t have the extra funds to do so – but you may have some time you can donate. If you’d like to help out in other ways – please PM Hannah for more information.[/quote]

Hannah,
I am new to this site....(never been much of a blogger or one to participate in forumns unless have some news to share) however I have been to a few events raising funds for the Haven Foundation and know it is a worthwhile cause. I have experieced some good fortune recently in obtaining some worthwhile items and could share a couple of my finds to benefit this charitable event. I have been able to obtain signed copies of Duma Key by making repeated stops in the right bookstores at opportune times as well as attending an event which provided me occasion to purchase additional. I beleive I can see clear to provide a copy for either auction or your gift list (whichever you feel will serve the fundraising the best). I also have had occasion to meet with Joe Hill at our local reading festival and can provide a signed copie of " Locke and Key " comic #2 if you woould like that. Being new here I am not familiar with how to PM or what is best way to contact. I would need to know where and when to send the items donated and any other details. I assume you will know how to contact me.
Thanks, EXPLORER

I had tried clicking the name here However the Drop down does not offer me an option to "Send personal message"
Do you need to be on ones buddy list or have them on yours?

sorry about the ignorance........ hope no question is considered dumb here

explorer, i've sent you a pm. I'm not sure why the drop down list is not offering you the choice to send a PM. You shouldn't have to add anyone to your buddy list to PM them unless they have special settings on their account. And of course, no question is a dumb question here... except maybe, "Who's Stephen King?"

Hey Explorer, I think actually you have to open
up the persons profile first then there is an option to send a PM.
In any case welcome to the site, thanks for your generousity
and I hope you'll allow us to get to know you some, have fun!!

I'm checking in from the road! Hello from just east of Nashville

I'm blown away by the offer EXPLORER, thanks so much.

To the admin, I think he may have just been in that "under 5 posts" catagory that can't do anything. Glad it got worked out. :grouphug:

We have been having wild success with recorded versions of SK's work, all on cassette. Seems there is still a place for them after all, which is great!

I am about to close the current auctions and declare the high bidder the winner so if you are interested in:

Nightmares and Dreamscapes Volume 1 & 2 (http://www.thedarktower.org/palaver/DTbay.php?do=item&viewitem=50) -- please click the link and have a look

Same with

4 Past Midnight-Secret Window, Secret Garden (http://www.thedarktower.org/palaver/DTbay.php?do=item&viewitem=51)

In this tradition, I am going to be adding

Blood and Smoke--On cassette

But, there is even more.

I'm also adding Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows on CD

My daughter bought this copy for me and I was able to listen to it on the way to work--very cool. In good condition for sure

So if you would like any of the items above, please feel free to visit DTbay and bid anytime. The platform is free and its cool for fun stuff like this.

**and the little birdie whispers**

I also understand there is going to be a very unique item coming to auction very soon. :ninja:

Daghain
04-22-2008, 12:55 PM
You're missing an opportunity there. Put it up in the living room and tell your kids if they're bad the guy in the picture is going to get them.

Patrick
04-22-2008, 01:06 PM
Yeah, and then get up and deal with them at 11:45pm, 12:58am, 1:37am, 2:46am, 4:11am, and 5:03am - every night forever every time one or both of them has a bad dream. :nope:
