The Summer 2017 issue of Ploughshares. Ploughshares is an award-winning journal of new writing. Two out of each year's three issues are guest-edited by prominent writers who explore different personal visions, aesthetics, and literary circles; the Winter issue is staff-edited.

Distinguished writer Stewart O'Nan guest-edits this issue. As O'Nan writes in his introduction, "I want to feel moral confusion, because nothing in this world is simple. As a writer reading, I also admire the precision and audacity of an author's language and use of form. Do it differently or better, or don't do it at all." Featuring new work from Stephen King, Christie Hodgen, Askold Melnyczuk, and Michael Byers, the pieces in this issue cover a wide range of themes and explore inventive narrative structures.

Thanks, Bev. On King's MB someone mentioned that this mag is also out as a Kindle, so I just got mine. Will read King's play now :)

It's about a guy who goes to see a psychiatrist because he thinks he's living in a play with an audience watching him. The story is constructed like a play script.

According to Wikipedia's count, this is King's 200th piece of short fiction.

An abstract tale/play, playing with meta. Liked it.

There appears to be a new King story out there that I've never seen announced anywhere. I discovered a copy of this publication on eBay this weekend where it listed "Thin Scenery" by King as a play, but the publication site doesn't mention that.

Summer 2017 issue of PLOUGHSHARES, guest edited by Stewart O'Nan, published by Emerson College.

You can still buy print copies here: https://www.pshares.org/issues/summer-2017

I wonder, since it hasn't been advertised or mentioned anywhere yet if this piece will be as rare as the elusive SALT HILL JOURNAL issue containing King's "Dino".

Buy away!!

It pays to look in on The Oracle threads every now and then. Like the new info on The Outsider.
