I got the cube - which really was what I was after. Somehow missed the boat on being a Jaws fan, so really didn't care about getting the book.
Plus having a complete set of cubes is much more of a reality than a set of the books...

So, what does the ceramic pig & penguin got for these days?

What was the pig for? I don't remember that one. I know the penguin was from Misery, and I believe there is a lamb that comes with SOTL.

There must have been a lot of the emperor penguins made by Hagen-Renaker; they always seem to be on ebay. There are several right now for around $15 shipped.

Yeah, I actually have both for my AE. Got them direct from the manufacturer or whatever. I was just curious. I'd love to have one of those cubes, but I'm not looking to part with, $500+ to get one!!! Though, maybe I could sell one of my "TMSG" to pay for it. They still going for $500 bucks these days? lol lol

This is one I've been waiting on since Horns. Scored an AE and paperweight. Completely scrolled passed the print so missed out there. Hoping to score a numbered tomorrow if any are available and will enter the lottery for the lettered if that's an option as well.

Speaking of the cubes, what's the best way to clean? Soft cloth?

All my Suntup (and other) paperweights are kept on shelves in glass door bookcases.
I only handle the Suntup paperweights by the corners, and have not attached the sticky feet to them.
I clean them by gently brushing a dust cloth across the top once a month, which they seem to bear very well.
So far I have not dropped them even once.

Thanks. I did put the little feet on them, and they sit in an old CD rack. Need to rearrange before get the new one and figured they will need dusting. Wasn't sure about stuff like Windex or Pledge. Figured no Windex tho.

Received my copy of 'Neuromancer' today as well. A lot to like here, the layout and choice of font really work for me, and I like the little circuit diagram-things used as paragraph breaks. The two color printing on the section pages is a nice touch as well. The revised cover design with the 'circuits' running over the edge definitely improves on the initial renders. Nice little introduction from Gibson - while I see it isn't new - my only copy is the 1984 ACE paperback, so I'd not read it previously. The paper isn't my favorite though - too glossy for my taste. Looks to me like the colophon is wrong is this regard as well - identifying the lettered editions as Cougar Opaque and the numbered editions as Mohawk Superfine - think that's reversed?

Hoping to see the rest of the Sprawl books in the future. While Neuromancer can stand on it's own, Count Zero & Mona Lisa Overdrive add a lot of depth to the world and provide a more satisfying ending imho.

For Gibson fans who aren't aware - the Amazon Prime adaptation of my recent novel 'The Peripheral' is currently filming. It's a great read and definitely worth the time - worried it'll be a little too prophetic about what lies in store for humanity though.

If I didn't already have the Centipede edition(s) of BLACKWATER, I'd be all over this one. I'm so delighted to see McDowell's masterwork reach more readers to which it may be new, and receive deluxe treatment...it's a remarkably immersive and satisfying work, one of my favorites of all-time, and it deserves the Suntup pedestal.

I don’t know about this series at all. Having all six stories collected into one volume is great though - a whopping 888 pages! And the reviews on audible are very positive.

It will be a while until I get to it in my reading-Suntup-releases-in-announcement-order enterprise, but I’m looking forward to it. The AE s preordered for that purpose.

(In other news, I’m currently listening to the auctioneer on audible. A slow build up, but things seem to be going south rapidly.)

The tactile feel of the Neuromancer numbered case doesn't get enough mention...really cool!

It is a very interesting sensation. Touching the circuit or the cloth individually is a much different feeling than running my hand over the whole cover.

Any estimate on when the Jaws paperweights will ship?

Very tough to give a date right now but it should be sooner than the December date provided on the product page. I’d say a rough estimate is early November. The paperweight is in production. We’re just making some tweaks.

So I am filling out the new survey, and ready to submit but I get an error about a bad captcha. I see the word Captcha on the page, but it is no clickable, and there is nothing else other then the word "Captcha" in red. Anyone else having this issue? Hope I don't have to type in all the names again.

EDIT: I refeshed, and lost my previous results (although it sometimes autocompleted my previous selections, but not always). 2nd time, the "I am not a robot" box appeared, and it worked. Think I may have forgotten some of my choices because I only came up with 3 for the last 3 categories.

zelig

No worries. And that Captcha is really annoying. Here’s how the ad should read: “Install this neat little thing to stop spam. Oh, by the way it will also prevent legitimate submissions from getting through too. Have a nice day!” I removed it. There’s another method for preventing spam but when I tried it, that too had its issues. I didn’t think I’d need it until the day someone let a malicious bot loose on one of the lottery forms which submitted hundreds of fake entries. Some people have no respect or common decency. So it goes.

That is awesome!

I'm more than a little jealous. I'm still hoping that my copy isn't lost forever - mailed it March 1st, failed to arrive, opened a case with USPS, eventually they said I should expect it returned to me. Surprisingly, it apparently made it back to Phoenix, only for it to be sent off to Turkey again instead of returned. That was two weeks ago now - it's certainly racking up the miles anyway.

Sent to Turkey in order to go to Arizona?

In March I mailed it from AZ to Turkey, it never arrived. In August the post office informed me they would be returning the package to me in AZ. Appears from tracking that the package did arrive back in AZ, but instead of being returned to me, was sent back to Turkey - no idea if it will be delivered or eventually returned. I'm a little jealous - it's done more traveling in the past six months than I have.

That remarque by Dolce Paganne is beautiful, Kenny. I love seeing all the original artwork you’re commissioning for u you our books.

Speaking of art, my Numbered Edition of LET THE RIGHT ONE IN arrived today and good lord is it gorgeous. Absolutely stunning production and Suntup knocked it out of the park with the winter theme effects. Also incredibly creative: The red corner on the limitation page corresponds symbolically with the bleeding red corner of the Rubik’s Cube in the paperweight.

Can anyone tell me if the numbered edition of The Eyes of the Dragon Art Portfolio came with a bookmark, and if so, where was it located?

I finally purchased a book to store all my bookmarks, and I can't find one for the art portfolio - I did check the product page and I didn't see one mentioned. The reason I thought there was one included is because the Suntup Editions Bookmarks page lists one as "The Eyes of the Dragon Art Portfolio (Original)", which I assumed (possibly incorrectly) to mean that one came with the portfolio.

Thanks!

Sorry for my ignorance on this. I was not aware of Paul and his great work when the portfolio was announced. I was fortunate enough to find out about Suntup Editions in time to purchase a numbered edition of the portfolio, and a bronze lifetime membership. I received the portfolio (obviously), the biography of David Palladini, a small printed card saying thank you for the purchase, a card saying who packed my order, four Suntup stickers, and a small cloth embroidered with the dragon.

I did not receive a print or promo kit - I'm wondering if they were only sent for preorders of the numbered/lettered editions? Since I purchased mine shortly before Misery was put up for sale, I'm guessing my order was not a preorder.

Don't be so sure! It's been a bit of an intense day, but reading that last line made me laugh out loud. I needed that! I admire your confidence in my ability to recall what I did with this all the way back in 2017! I actually don't remember! My best guess is that yes, they were sent with pre-orders only. By the time Misery was announced, I had been sitting on some inventory of the portfolios, and also money was really tight. So it could be that I only produced enough of the promo kit and poster for the original pre-orders. That is just an educated guess, and I could be proven wrong. I don't have any of those kits sitting around here, so that would make sense. And those peanuts! I'm sure everyone is thankful I don't use those anymore!

Ah, another mistake I'm making. I looked up the portfolio from the home page on the Suntup site - it does not mention the promo kit. Now I see that going to Store - All Editions provides different info, including the promo kit.

Agreed! (Although I prefer a nice oatmeal stout with liver.)

All of the Suntup editions are so unique and beautiful, it's impossible for me to pick a favorite. When I received my numbered Neuromancer and held the book and slipcase, I thought "this is my favorite!" Then I received Silence and saw how beautiful the book and slipcase are. And when I pulled Red Dragon out to make room for Silence... Yeah, no way I can pick one as my absolute favorite.

Plus another addition to my little Hagen-Renaker collection!

Does anyone happen to have a Horns AE dustjacket for sale? I put a mylar cover on mine and when I put it into the slipcase it became stuck. I accidentally damaged it forcing the book out. I know there are none available on the Suntup website. So I thought I'd check here. Thanks

Hi Paul,

Just quick clarification on your follow up survey. Are you looking for individual short stories, or collections of short stories?

Will you be sharing any summaries or observations on the surveys.

zelig

Thanks for asking. Individual short stories. We have enough book length titles to work with. That was the main focus of this survey. Who of you have a favorite short work. If someone isn’t a fan of short stories then they can skip the survey of course. Thanks!

Sorry, forgot to answer your question. I may share some observations in one of the live broadcasts but we don’t usually share all of the results of the surveys.

Can we include SK in it?

I didn't mention that on the form, It doesn't really matter either way, although I'd prefer that not all 5 are SK stories. If you want to include one or two that's fine. But it's primarily for non-King work. Thanks. I know short stories aren't for everyone, but this survey is mainly for those who enjoy them.

If a King does get selected for some kind of Short Story anthology (an assumtion that's what it would be), and we don't have Misery, would that
prevent that person from getting such a book? If King signs that is.

I didn’t say separate authors. I am referring to a compilation of his short works. Also, if it was with other authors I would wonder what or how it would be handled rights wise but I don’t claim to know.

Gotcha. You meant a King Collection, then- which I would agree with; "King Track" rights should apply (Anthology usually connotes disparate authors, and, that- it seems to me- wouldn't fall under a "King" book category).

I went the classic route with stories/novellas from King, Matheson, Charles Beaumont, Ray Bradbury, and Karl Edward Wagner. I had some other more contemporary stories/novellas in mind as well, but I’d love to see some important vintage tales get the archival treatment they deserve.

For the survey, I put down:

Orange Is For Anguish, Blue For Insanity by David Morrell
Morrell is the author of First Blood and other Rambo novels.
I don't think he's written much horror, which is a shame - this is one of my favorite short stories ever.

The Case Of Charles Dexter Ward by H.P. Lovecraft
Lovecraft in top form, with one of his most substantial (in plot and page count) works, which is basically two tales in one.

Count Magnus by M.R. James
There's not much variation in quality and plot in James' oeuvre - they're all pretty decent, and he's good with atmosphere - and this is one of the better ones.

In The Flesh by Clive Barker
I'm concerned this may have been throwing away a vote, as this is included in one of Barker's Books of Blood, but I think it's pretty special.

Shadow - A Parable by Edgar Allan Poe
An atmospheric shorty from Poe.
For Poe, I could've gone with The Masque Of The Red Death (or any number of others), but thought this might make an interesting choice.

Honorable mentions (I considered including them in the survey, ultimately didn't, but list them here because you should read them):

The Whisperer In Darkness by H.P. Lovecraft
More prime Lovecraft.
I almost included this ahead of other things on the list (not ahead of TCOCDW, however; that's my definite HPL favorite) but wanted to avoid repeating an author.

The Forbidden by Clive Barker
Every bit as good as In The Flesh. The Forbidden is the basis of Candyman, although differs from the film in significant ways. I could've gone either way with this one; ultimately I chose ITF because it is likely less familiar to people.

So, Death Heads Moth clue...

It's an important yet an obscure novel, yet i just checked my Death Heads Moth and found this.

It resembles something, i just can't seem to pin point it; is it a man sitting down in a meditative way or does it resemble an animal?

In my opinion it would be too direct for the moth itself to be a clue. [emoji6]

Ps: i might just see thing in this that aren't even there.

Oooong at that moth, I’ve seen 3 different things:

1 I’m sure part of the moth, depicts the disembowelling of the detective Pazzi.

2 then I saw several animals /demons, which made me think of the manitou,

And finally I see wolfman, Dracula and possibly the mummy, and that leads me to It, when he projected the fears of the kids at the house in neobald street.

I’ve always been rubbish at this lot, but lean more to Hannibal.

Thanks for the link, I'll check it out.

I admire your sleuthing skills, but you're off base with this one! There is nothing there about the book I was referencing. And I didn't mean the book was obscure. I meant the paper moth as a clue. Maybe obscure wasn't the right word, but to guess the book as having some sort of connection to that moth is not easy. Although I shouldn't be surprised that it has already been mentioned.

$25K in prices... Paul thank you for doing that. What an exciting release... wow

Yes, it's going to be exciting. I always enjoy giving away prizes.

Agreed! Thank you Paul. I’m super excited to see the editions tomorrow!

When I heard that he had $25k in prizes he was giving away, I really was shocked. That's very generous.
Can't wait until tomorrow.

No problem! Good luck!

Ah, i see. Well thank you for the clarification on that, it was driving me insane there. 🤣
No, just kidding but i did wonder about the moth when i received the book.
Excited for today's announcement, that will be awesome!

Speaking of the paper moth, I found a floating display frame on Amazon that fits it pretty well. It's 4.3" x 4.3", for those wanting to find one.

The Suntup extras are always really neat.

I like that display case!

Just out of (greedy) curiosity, how do the giveaway contests on (ugh!) Facebook work?
Do you have to immediately send some kind of response to a trivia question or something like that?
Do you have to have a (yuck!) Facebook membership to participate?
Do bribes work?

When Paul has giveaways during his Facebook live events, he sometimes just says something like "the next five comments I see get a prize." Other times, like yesterday, he simply picks a number of random comments made during his live presentation, and those lucky individuals get a prize. I've never seen one with trivia or anything. I haven't personally won anything yet; perhaps I should try a bribe!

Unless I missed something yesterday, I did not hear anything about today's prizes being given away on Facebook. There was a lot of talk about "golden tickets" (from us, not Paul) leading up to this event. I'm kind of wondering if he'll do something like that. Stick tickets in random copies of AEs maybe? Perhaps all preorders win something? Maybe one lucky winner gets a Roman?!? Hard to say with Paul, but we should know in less than an hour!

So that makes 2 numbered and one lettered? Impressive. Most impressive.

Excuse my total naivety on this, but why collect more than one copy of a book? I've never purchased more than one copy of a book, except by accident.

I have many copies of the same book throughout my collection. Variants for one reason. In the case of Horns, it's one of my all time favorites and the production is gorgeous. This is actually the 5th numbered copy that I've owned. 3 were sold previously to help in acquiring the lettered.

I bought all the artist editions and hired a bunch of people to sort through them for the golden tickets.

I flooded the market with fakes; just to muddy the waters.

It can be difficult to describe Suntup without seeming like a paid sycophant. Suntup is like a damn good publisher that then hires an outside team to come in after the fact to add zippy bells and whistles (prizes, extras, boxes of chocolate, even the tape on the box (I think)) - except Suntup does it all on its own.

Paul - thank you for going full out on all of this, every book; it's such a pleasure, as a bibliophile, to see each thing he does.

I might like a copy to read and one to keep for preservation. I have a few extra Let the Right One In and Silence of the Lambs for that purpose.

So quick question for anyone over at Suntup HQ:
I purchased the AE, but also entered the form in advance to that on the site.
Does that negate your chances with the purchase(s)?

If so, can the form entry be removed?
