I've seen them all except for The Poughkeepsie Tapes. It gets hard sometimes finding horror movies that both interest me and I haven't seen. I have seen a LOT.

You're missing "The Exorcist", "The Shining" and 'The Haunting". You're now on a "time out"!!!! lol

Edit" I'd also highly recommend "The Conjuring". I know you will say "Bill, its just my opinion", but since we know you root for the hated "Red Sux", you're opinion is highly suspect!!!!! LOL LOL

Man, I've missed your dysfunctional ass around here!!!! lol

I was going to create our annual Halloween Horror-thon thread, but this is kind of the same thing so I won't. I watch plenty of horror movies during Halloween season, but I definitely won't be able to watch one a day.

There are one I have to watch every year like Hocus Pocus, It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, and some that I want to try and do re-watches of this year like Annabelle, Frankenweenie, and Goosebumps. I also want to do all the Screams, since I haven't seen the 4th since it was released. In terms of ones I haven't seen, here's my list of possibilities:

Halloween 3: Season of the Witch
Halloween (Rob Zombie)
The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari
Coraline
The Addams Family
The Final Girls
Friday the 13th
Halloween: Resurrection
The Fog
The Ninth Gate
Sleepaway Camp
Heathers
The Neon Demon
Cell

In Theaters: 31, Ouija 2, Blair Witch

Yeah, Brice, you ruin everything. :P

Just kidding, of course. And this is literally the exact same thing I would be posting (what we've seen, planning on watching, looking forward to, ratings, etc.), so it's fine.

So, out of those you've seen from my list, which would you recommend of these: Halloween 3: Season of the Witch, Halloween (Rob Zombie), The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, The Fog, The Ninth Gate, Sleepaway Camp, Heathers. Also, is Heathers and Sleepaway Camp actually horror, or more campy?

Sleepaway I vaguely recall...not much help there. Heathers is more like dark comedy, but awesome! I love it. It is one of my favorite movies...not really scary though. Personally of your list I'd choose Heathers, Cabinet Of Dr. Caligari, or Halloween (Zombie). Halloween 3 is good, but is not part of the Myers story really. Ninth Gate I also vaguely recall, but it's been years since I've seen it. I think I might need to see that again.

I saw the first two Insidious films. I'm not a huge fan, but the first one was fairly solid, even if the characters were awful. Wasn't the sequel. I won't say they're bad films, but too many jump scares and loud noises, and not enough quiet and unsettling atmosphere for my taste. The Conjuring to me is one of the worst horror films I've ever seen. Tons of people really liked it though.

Brice, if you haven't check out: The Babadook, The Orphanage, Pontypool, and Stakeland.

Ricky you need to watch Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, Zombies Halloween, and Heathers (also a favorite of mine but not really horror)

Sleepaway Camp, is just a fun campy slasher film.
Love The Ninth Gate
And The Final Girls was a fun twist on slasher horror films. Would definitely recommend it as well.

There's a funny episode of the podcast How Did This Get Made about the movie. They discuss the baseball game

So far for horror films I've seen The Forest, which I thought was boring and super forgettable. Would not recommend it at all. I believe they're showing The Shining on the big screen later this month so I'm hopefully going to catch that.

Fandango says that 31 has a wide release this week, but I'm not seeing any showtimes. Did they pull it and decide to only do the one-night theatrical thing?

Heather19
10-18-2016, 05:10 PM
I hope it gets a theatrical release. I just checked Box Office Mojo, and it doesn't have any theater counts up for the week yet for that film. My guess is maybe it's going to be in limited release? Or they're releasing it later? I'm glad I went to see it. I missed Lords of Salem because it was at our theater for 1 week only, then it was gone. So I didn't want to miss this one.

Hmm...maybe Fandango got it wrong, or the producers decided not to do a wide release. I know it's On Demand, but $9.99 is a little high for me, especially since I could've gone to a matinee if it was in theaters. I was planning on going to see it Friday, but may end up settling for the new Ouija (hopefully it's better than the first, which was awful).

Heather19
10-19-2016, 07:34 AM
Oh man, that sucks. I thought the movie was excellent. Hopefully it'll hit up theaters soon. If you see Ouija let me know how it is. I haven't seen the first one, but it looked bad.

Watched The Final Girls and Cell last night and really enjoyed both. The only thing I didn't really like in The Final Girls was the very end cliffhanger-y scene. And I don't know why everyone is complaining about Cell being awful. I don't think it was bad at all. Aside from some shallow character development, the zombies looking a little like other films' zombies, and the clumsy ending, I thought it was well-paced and thrilling, and it definitely held my interest. In terms of King adaptations, it's no Misery or The Mist, but it's not The Running Man either.
