I don't know.
It sounds cool, but I have no idea what it is.
I'll Google it someday, but I love art nomenclature.

Water of a ducks back.

Ask and thou shalt receive...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cotton_duck

Modern canvas is usually made of cotton or linen, although historically it was made from hemp. It differs from other heavy cotton fabrics, such as denim, in being plain weave rather than twill weave. Canvas comes in two basic types: plain and duck. The threads in duck canvas are more tightly woven.

Great to see this up and running, thanks Jerome.

Good luck to all who are bidding!

Yup, I'm still holding it! Still 3 days to go though... keeping my fingers crossed :)

Didn't expect this to go for so much more than the Ned Dameron ($450) or the David Palumbo ($310) pieces. Has almost reached both combined! I love this piece and think it's worth every penny.

Even I can't afford my own work. Haha.

I'm so pleased that this painting is doing great for the Haven Fund! I hope it goes to a good home.

There will be another painting coming in a day or so, I'm just putting the finishing touches to it right now so maybe I will finish it tonight or by the afternoon tomorrow. Watch this space...

Haha I WISH!

I'm telling ya, brother, we could do shared custody of ol' Shardik. 6 month rotation sound about right? :) We do the same for the second piece that's coming up and we'll never be without a Readman. It's a win-win for everyone all round :).

That has to be a huge compliment as an artist! Congrats on the success of it so far in auction.

Not with something this expensive, but we actually did a member share a few years back. IIRC, it was a pink Kindle (or earlier name) with a SK short story on it (UR?). Each member had ~72 hours upon receipt to read the story, then forward the unit to the next person on the list.

I take it that you are now the new owner of this painting then wolfehr? No last minute bids or sniping.

Congratulations and thank you for your support and contribution to the Haven Fund!

Jerome will no doubt contact both of us to arrange shipping, so I'll talk with you some more soon.

Thank you also to everyone else who placed bids on this painting.

That's correct, I am the lucky winner. I LOVE this painting so put in a really high max bid to try and prevent any last minute sniping. I guess it worked :) Definitely think it's worth every penny!

Thank you Rachel for donating this wonderful piece... cannot wait to have it hanging on my wall!
