During the first round of The Great Music Tournament, please vote for up to five tracks you would like to move onto the next round. The top five tracks will be moving on. Keep in mind that the percentage of the vote a given track receives will determine its standing going forward.

IMPORTANT! Please do not simply vote on name recognition (or lack thereof) alone. Please do listen to each nomination and then make your choice. Even if you think you know a track well, it's still worth giving it a listen for a refresher.

The poll will run for seven days. Discussion is greatly encouraged!

The nominees are (please let me know if any video doesn't play for you):

It's pretty varied actually.

I did listen to the ones I didn't know. Still nothing. I almost/kind of liked the Jason Mraz song but not enough to vote on it. Five from this group I had never heard of before.

I knew two of the performers but only one song! Not a great round for me! Just not my kinda music

Remember, it's not about name recognition but what are the better tracks.

At least 4 of the songs got regular rotation on the pop stations when they were released. (I Kissed a Girl, I'm Yours, Stereo Love and Check on It). Alexandra Stan I know of from the song Mr. Saxobeat from 2011.

Within Temptation was my nomination. I nominated more of their songs but this was the only one that got through. Not their best in my opinion but still pretty good. They are very similar to Evanesence (who also don't have enough representation in this tournament IMHO).

Other than the first two choices, it's very close in this one. Hoping to see "Traffic Shock", "Stereo Love", and "Lollipop" get more love from peeps! "Our Solemn Hour" is cool too.
