During the first round of The Great Music Tournament, please vote for up to five tracks you would like to move onto the next round. The top five tracks will be moving on. Keep in mind that the percentage of the vote a given track receives will determine its standing going forward.

IMPORTANT! Please do not simply vote on name recognition (or lack thereof) alone. Please do listen to each nomination and then make your choice. Even if you think you know a track well, it's still worth giving it a listen for a refresher.

The poll will run for seven days. Discussion is greatly encouraged!

The nominees are (please let me know if any video doesn't play for you):

This is another packed group. I'm hoping my vote won't be the only one for "Cherry Pink and Apple Blossom White". The name may not resonate but I'm sure the tune will be familiar. This is such a classic track.

And how does "Fever" only have two votes so far? :panic:

Well it now has three, but I'm shocked too. That song is awesome. More votes please! :D

The goal is to select the songs that best reflected this era and perhaps beyond, yes? Just to make sure I got it. LOl

Nothing to do with, "fever" intended.

That's pretty much the point, yes, to select what we all collectively feel are the best songs in each era.

Another vote for "Fever" is in the bank. Awesome, awesome song!

Oh, and the funny thing is that thanks to this tournament, I have been able to find out what song (a tiny piece of it, but still) was used in a very well known Soviet cartoon.....wouldn't you know it....it's "Cherry Pink"! I have always wondered, since I saw it for the first time some 30+ years ago, what the cool tune was. Now I know :excited:

Apparently, the Iron Curtain was not *that* solid
