Hmmm, somehow I missed that. Would you mind repeating the thought behind the change? Just curious is all.

That's just to spur more activity with the older music which is not as well-known. The plan initially was the have a waiting period of three throughout, but as things started it was clear two would be plenty.

Gotcha. I suspected as much. Good idea.

At this point we only need 20 more tracks to be seconded for this time period and there are 29 unseconded tracks right now. Please take a moment and see what's out there, what's unrepresented or underrepresented, and what still deserves to be billed as one of the 112 best of 1965-1969.

Shilling for some of my unseconded tracks...

The Fireballs - Bottle of Wine (1967) -- almost every karaoke session I've been involved with, this is such a crowd favorite. Best drinking song until "Friends in Low Places"

Tommy James & The Shondells - Mony, Mony (1968) -- good lord how is this not seconded yet?

The Strangeloves - I Want Candy (1965) -- the Bow Wow Wow remake is also very catchy; I'll nominate that if this doesn't get seconded.

The Rolling Stones - Mother's Little Helper (1966) -- The Stones languishing? For shame. I need to pop some Valium (see what I did there? LOL)

Count Five - Psychotic Reaction (1965) -- possibly you've never heard of this, but it is everything garage rock should be. A catchier hook you'll never find. Please give this one a listen (and the go-go video is just...well..the '60s were something else)

Sandie Shaw - Those Were the Days (1968) -- nice mix of beauty and nostalgia

The Standells - Dirty Water (1966) -- Boston you're my home ba-dum-pum-pum

Mitch Ryder and The Detroit Wheels - Devil with a Blue Dress On/Good Golly, Miss Molly (1966) -- more rock fun

It's all in good fun. If there are better tracks out there, let's get them nominated and seconded!

I second:

The Yardbirds - Train Kept A-Rollin' (1965) (http://www.thedarktower.org/palaver/showthread.php?19386&p=969002&viewfull=1#post969002)

Actual nominations and secondings for this time period are done, but you can still post and discuss things.

Fuck me, I feel ashamed that I failed to nominate this (I thought it was from 1964, but it came out February 1965). One of the greatest albums of all time. Posting the full album, because it's really one long suite, broken up into four parts:

I've gotta say that this is probably the poll I'm most excited to vote on. I was kinda late to the nominating, but am happy to see we've got all the great ones on this list: The Animals, Simon and Garfunkel, The Doors, Otis Redding. [rubs hands together] This one's gonna be fun!

I came in here just to see if this song had made this list. Glad you thought of it, Divemaster. :)

Just watched the new Cloverfield trailer and realized that we never nominated this song.

Debating on whether or not to nominate the 1987 Tiffany version. :orely:

If you won't I will, I love that song! I didn't nominate the original because I actually like the cover better :fairy:

I love the Tommy James / Shondells version but I think I nominated or seconded 2 or 3 of their other songs so figured it was enough. In retrospect, this one certainly could have been included.

Feel free. I need more nominations in that thread anyway before I can go again.

And done.

Now to get back to great '60s songs heartbreakingly forgotten to be nominated:

We seemed to have missed: A song first offered to Bob Dylan to record... but he declined.

We did but I already listed it as part of the "other tracks" earlier:
