I posted this clip in the Quarterfinals poll, but it deserves to be seen again, one of the best lines in the movie:

The Griswolds!

I dunno, I never found Ghostbusters that funny.

I watched Ghostbusters recently and I didn't think it held up very well.

I really don't see how either of these made it to the semifinals. Voting Ghostbusters, but it honestly wasn't sidesplittingly funny by any means.

You don't think Vacation is funny? That's easily one of my personal classic comedies.

I enjoy it, and find it funny. But I could easily name a good dozen, maybe even two dozen comedies I find funnier than it.

Yeah, my top four comedies are probably...

Monty Python & The Holy Grail (1975)
Monty Python's Life Of Brian (1979)
Airplane (1980)
This Is Spinal Tap (1984)

Fair enough.

Yeah, I kind of feel like it would turn out differently if the same people all sat down together to freely select a handful of finalists from the same list of nominations through reasoned debate rather than through stages of elimination by dissociated polls. Maybe not; I could be wrong. It just seems a bit odd to me, the way these things go. Like, slightly random, almost.

I've seen on other boards where they form a "best of" list by having everyone submit their own personal top 10 (or whatever number) list and then someone goes through the lists and compiles a master list from them.

It is a lot of work for a single person though.

All of those would top these 2 for best comedies.

Don't hurt me but how about everyone post what they think are the top 4 comedies of all time and after a week we compare lists and see which film lands on the most lists and compare that to the top four generated by this poll?

The poll has closed. National Lampoon's Vacation moves on to the Final, while Ghostbusters is eliminated.
