This auction has a cool back-story from Don Maitz.
Don was sent a copy to watercolor an art piece in.
Turns out he damaged the donated book, and had to go to his shelf and pull his personal reference copy to try again.
Don also tossed in an insert stamped with his personal collection emblem.

Very cool.

TheDarkTower.org (http://www.thedarktower.org/)is proud to be the EXCLUSIVE site to auction this new, unique and fine Collectible item.
For your consideration is a Stephen King Signed Gift Edition of "Desperation" featuring painted original art by the book's artist-Don Maitz (http://www.paravia.com/DonMaitz/website/index.html) .

Don Maitz (http://www.paravia.com/DonMaitz/website/index.html) was kind enough to do an original piece in the book, then shipped the book to Stephen King for his signature.

This book is Don Maitz's personal reference copy. The original book was damaged during the painting process (it's now a new project in and of itself...)

Included is a card that is stamped with Don Maitz's personal library copy!

Thanks to DT.org member T_Dogz-AK47 for donating the book, and of course thanks to Don Maitz and Stephen King!

I love these paintings. At the start of the book, the first Entragian stops did feel somewhat comical and menacing at the same time, and Maitz caught that. And now you've got me intrigued about the damaged book as well. These will likely be outside of my range, but I'll enjoy seeing them in the New Pride & Joy thread.

So did SK sign BEFORE the book was damaged? I.e. is that one signed as well?
Enquiring minds want to know...

The damaged book was never sent to King for a signature. Therefore, it is not signed by King. The damaged book is not part of our fundraiser. It's just part of the lore.
As I understand it, Maitz is experimenting with the book (damaging it more :) )

Stay tuned, rumor has it the damaged book was recovered from the town of Desperation. Torn, battered and bruised by TAK but hidden to avoid complete destruction.

In route to Northwest Arkansas.....

I'm looking forward to seeing this version of the book. It sounds like it may end up being a happy accident.
