Well, I haven't posted anything new for some time now. I've been giving my wallet a much needed vacation!

This book showed up the other day on Abe and I thought it was interesting. I've never seen it before and appears to be quite scarce. Maybe someone who knows more can chime in.

If my memory is correct, I believe Bruce has a Perma-Bound edition, but this is a Turtleback edition of Creepshow. I did some searching and don't see any available out there except one copy on the Amazon Marketplace for a ridiculous price of $9999.99.

Here is the PERMA-BOUND edition Have never seen Turtleback edition.. 1st thing I noticed it has a barcode on the back (Does it have a full # line 1-9 & FIRST PRINTING JULY 1982 on the copy right page?) I did a search on the barcode & came up with this info Demco Media 1990. two listed $4,269.91 & $10,003.98 also noticed like the PERMA-BOUND the TURTLEBACK is also printed right on the cover (meaning these covers are custom printed not just rebound original covers)

First printing, July 1982. 6th impression. I suspect these were bound using copies available at the time, which were at 6 on the numberline, or thereabouts.

Jon posted some pictures of a photocopy of the manuscript of "The Shine" and it reminded me of some photocopies I have and which I haven't really looked at for a really long time. I sort of forgot I had them until I saw Jon's post. I bought these from a dealer in the late 80's or early 90's.

According to Justin Brooks' Bibliography, this is the 2nd appearance of "I Was a Teenage Grave Robber", published as "In a Half-World of Terror" in the fanzine Stories of Suspense.

Someone here must have the original. Bob? As you can see, this was signed by King on 7/24/82. (Photocopy of original signature.)

The 2nd item I found (I actually don't even remember that I ever had this. I found it behind the one above in a plastic bag) is a copy of the short story "Slade", which according to the Bibliography, first appeared in The Summer Campus. This photocopy doesn't look like it was the print version, so I'm not sure what the background is behind this one. Maybe someone simply retyped the story, and then made copies.

I suspect that is a photocopy of King's manuscript for the story. It is one that has circulated among collectors for some time. The original in-print version was indeed The Summer Campus which was the title of The Maine Campus during the summer semesters. The story ran for 8 issues from June 11, 1970 through August 6, 1970. I have all of the "King's Garbage Truck" issues of The Maine Campus as well as most of the other ones with King's letters to the editor and nonfiction essays but I have never found any of the summer issues nor do I know of anyone who has. The issues with Slade are high on my want list and have been for years.

Yes, I have had three original copies of Stories of Suspense over the years but not that particular copy. Also, through David at Betts, I was able to get all three issues of Comics Review from 1964 that contained the serialized "I Was A Teen-Age Graverobber."

Very nice, Paul. I wondered what was in the two sealed packages. Now I know. The omnibus looks undamaged, I'm always concerned when they arrive with no packing and just a plastic shipping bag stretched over them.
I'm happy to help US based collectors, as you and many others help me out. I haven't been buying too much from the US recently due to the poor Sterling and now it's even worse. I'm sure it will bounce back and that things will eventually get back to normal. I remember a few years ago when I could get two dollars to one pound - the good old days when I bought most of my S/Ls!

Grab the Oreos.

There has been an interesting development with regard to the recent Palladini art auction on eBay. I was not able to talk to David prior to the end of the auction to verify whether the artwork shown in the listing was the original or not. I managed to connect with him over the phone a day or two after it ended, and I described the drawing to him. The scene with Peter and his best friend Ben Staad at the annual Farmer's Lawn Party where they were paired up in the three-legged sack race.

Based on that description over the phone, David said it could not be the original because he has the original.

It seems we all missed something, myself included. A few nights ago, I was paging through the book, looking at the artwork, and when I saw the sack race drawing, it hit me. It was different to the one in the auction.

The image on the right is from the book (page 32.) The one on the left is from the auction. Completely different.

http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c330/zelig7/IMG_7550_comp_zpsfwvvdwg2.jpg

This discovery obviously left me with some questions, although I had a feeling what was going on but I needed to verify it. Fortunately, I was able to visit David on Friday (happy to report that he is getting stronger every day since the heart attack), and I told him about this. I could not show him the actual pieces because they only arrived yesterday, so I took a printout of it.

When he first said it cannot be the original, that was based on the drawing that was published in the book. When he saw the one from the auction, he realized what it was and verified my suspicions.

This is an original drawing he did for the book, but ultimately it could not be used because the scene did not match what was described in the story. So he gave it to Deborah Brodie, who was the children's book editor at Viking, and who was heading up the EOTD project.

This set consists of three items. An original unpublished drawing of the sack race inscribed and signed by Palladini, and two New Year cards, one signed and inscribed by Stephen King and both signed and inscribed by Palladini. One of the cards has been colored.

http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c330/zelig7/IMG_7550_zpse7mqbtpe.jpg

A big surprise was the size of these. Based on the photos I'd seen in the listing, I thought the New Year cards were small. Sort of greeting card size. They are in fact about 18" x 14" and the drawing is about 11" x 17".

http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c330/zelig7/IMG_7551_zpsmjr8lqzz.jpg

http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c330/zelig7/IMG_7557_zpscvfi09xr.jpg

This one was colored by David. He originally thought he didn't but when he saw it, he remembered that he did.

A few new arrivals today.

This is the new FPM trade paperback, released today. A bit of a ding, but oh well.

http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c330/zelig7/IMG_7565_zpsxppdaxgm.jpg

Here's what has been released so far in the large format softcovers. Some under Scribner and the rest Gallery.

http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c330/zelig7/IMG_7566_zpsria2w0td.jpg

You don't see this slipcase much. It's one of the CD slipcases I was missing and have been looking for one for a long time. I think the only CD one I don't have now is the UTD traycase. This is for the U.K. Doctor Sleep.

That supplement to The London Times had a few sellers on eBay shortly after it was published in 2006. I recall most sold in the $15 to $20 range with some a little more and some a little less. I haven't seen one for sale in a long time. It is hard for me to believe that it has already been 10 years since Lisey's Story was published.

It has been quite some time since I last posted anything here. I haven't really been buying much so nothing post worthy.

I did pick this up though the other day for a really good price and couldn't pass it up. I've been looking for this proof for a long time. I haven't seen it for sale since I started collecting proofs and it has always been missing from my collection. I was also lucky that this copy included the publisher letter.

Under the Dome Scribner proof

Very nice, Paul. That's one you don't see that often. I still need that one, but I have never seen it up for sale.

I wonder how many were produced, as the UK proof of 200 copies is seen fairly regularly up for sale. So Scribner proof must be quite scarce.

There was some discussion about a Canadian trade paperback of End of Watch. I don't remember who posted about it and the ISBN, but thanks for bringing it to my attention. This just arrived. I don't think there was one for Mr. Mercedes.

And if I'm not mistaken there was also some discussion about the UK Book Club edition of The Dark Half being released before the US trade edition? I could be wrong. But here's the UK BCE edition with the 1st trade edition.

Thanks Brian. The 1st edition is on the left and the book club is on the right.

Nice adds Paul. I wonder if there is anyway to tell the difference between later printed BCE and the time of release copies.

Yet again some nice adds! And I didn't know about the Dark half BCE being the true 1st, would love anyone to confirm this...?

Looks like you have resurrected the dead here. I have not looked at this thread for a long time. Kinda forgot it was there. It's a miracle the pictures are still showing since they are hosted at pbucket.

I guess since I'm here, I can share this. I finally got it framed. Original painting for Misery by Robert Giusti. It is a 14" x 18" acrylic on canvas. A cool print is available from these guys: Misery Art Print (https://shop.suntup.press/collections/the-covers-collection-individual-prints/products/misery-fine-art-print).

Lol I was about to ask if you were doing one as I’d rather give you the business...then I clicked the link

Let me ask since we’re on the subject, is there a difference between a “fine art print” and The Shining poster? Asking because of the price difference. Either way, I’m looking forward to buying a Misery and IT print as soon as I pause my never ending book buying spree. If you wouldn’t mind putting a copy of each off to the side for me... kidding :)

Glad to have resurrected this thread! Looking forward to seeing any of your new adds.

Yup, the posters are not signed, and are not limited. They are also printed on a 'glossy' photographic paper. The art prints are giclée prints that are signed and limited, and are printed on 300gsm cotton paper. You can check out the descriptions for more details.

No, but I need to. I've put on some weight. Here's one reason, and also just because it has been too long since I have tormented you. These were taken during my trip to the East Coast last year.

Hot chocolate from a famous deli in Brooklyn. I can't remember the name now.

Don't remember where this was.

'Loopy Doopy' drink at the Rooftop Bar of the Conrad Hotel. You get a popsicle in a glass of wine. This was downtown NY.

This was a frozen yogurt if I recall.

I think this one was that famous bakery. Can't remember the name. Rebecca will know.

And finally, world famous Dysart's Truck Stop in Bangor, and the Blueberry Pie.
