"klaatu barada nikto."Fun fact: three of the aliens in Return of the Jedi are named in tribute to this movie. Klaatu, Barada, Nikto.
I think The Day the Earth Stood Still is ultimately better than both Pitch Black and Altered States, which is lucky since those two have such different qualities that they'd be hard to choose between.

Finally voted, Jurassic Park and The Day the Earth Stood Still
Oooooops... I wan't here to vote for Jacob's Ladder, and now it is out
didn't have any chance even with my vote, though... I can't begin to understand it.

Well, I can only speak for myself. I love Jacob's Ladder, but don't consider it sci-fi at all which is why I never voted for it.
