What?? This should've been the Final.

All 4 movies left are worthy of being in the final.

Jean is right, Psycho. The Shining is great, but Psycho is greater.

fernandito

The Shining of course :D

mae

Why of course?

Heather19

Because it's the best horror film ever made ;)

I am not sure it is, but I am (and always have been) sure it'll be crowned as such

I will vote for The Exorcist overall, but The Shining is a good 2nd place for me.

All 4 movies left are worthy of being in the final.

1 of them is, at least, and it's the one I'm picking now: The Shining. All the other films deserving of being here didn't make it past the first round :/

I will vote for The Exorcist overall, but The Shining is a good 2nd place for me.No, it is doomed to take the 1st. The Exorcist is losing to Alien, and The Shining will beat Alian in the final.

I voted for Psycho because even though I adore The Shining, ultimately I feel that Psycho is a more important film, it changed the world in many ways and is really the Grandfather of the modern horror film, when it was released, people had never seen anything like it, some were absolutely traumatized by it, I love that!

Jean
06-11-2014, 02:37 AM
tied!

I am not crazy about Psycho (it's one of Hitchcock films I love less), but I agree with what Tommy said. When we started the contest, I hoped it would win. Now, surprisingly, it actually has a chance. For how long, though?

mae

I too believed Psycho would be number one. Hopefully it will be.

So what do we do if we're tied? Use IMDB or RT ratings? :)

fernandito

lol, you wish!

I can't remember how we did it last time (yrs ago) for the BMOAT... I think it was like, the first 5 people to vouch for their pick inside the thread or something like that. Let me think on it.

I think we added votes for what everyone specified they voted for in the thread. So in that case it's important to state who you voted for. Example, if it's tied, and 5 people stated they voted for Psycho, while only 3 voted for The Shining, Psycho would win the round.

Ah, that's right! Should we recreate that here?

I'm surprised by how well Psycho is doing. It killed in the last round which I wasn't expecting either because it almost got eliminated right off the bat.

I voted for the Shining however I love almost everything about Psycho. When considering the era that Psycho was developed and released in it is truly a shocking and groundbreaking film...in my humble opinion.

I watched Psycho again not too long ago on blu-ray. Truly one of the best films ever made, period.

I voted for Shining but in all honesty I'll be happy with either advancing, they are both remarkable films.

Ben Staad

Agreed. The only issue I have with Psycho is it seems to be a one trick pony. While the one trick is awesome and ground breaking it is only one trick. I think The Shining has many more layers and things to think about that it allows itself to be a more complex and "full" movie.

That's a great way of putting it, Ben; The Shining has a lot more layers.

I voted for The Shining.

If it is a tie, the only real way to decide is to let me decide.

To anyone who loved OR wasn't thrilled with Psycho, I would strongly recommend the book. Whatever artfulness and suspense the film has, the book surpasses it in all ways.

Everyone here knows how much I love Hitchock, and I think Psycho is a great film, but he's got so many better ones. Also compared to The Shining, which in my opinion is a masterpiece, it doesn't come close. Like Ben said above, there's definitely a lot of layers to it, and on a whole I think it's a much better crafted film, and way scarier. It's my personal number one scary movie, and easily within my top 10 films of all time. I think it would make one of the top three spots actually. Psycho unfortunately would fall way lower.
