Have you read any graphic novels/trade paperback collections that you just couldn't wait to put down? Maybe you skip through them, maybe you give up completely? Tell us which ones you've hated and why.

I rate all the graphic novels/collections I read on a scale from 1-5, with 1 being damn-near unreadable and a 5 being damn-near perfect. Here are my 1s and 2s:

- Civil War: Captain America
I actually don't remember why I rated this a 1. I enjoyed the Civil War storyline and I don't exactly HATE Captain America ... So, I don't know.

- Batman, Incorporated and Batman: Incorporate Volume 1: Demon Star
Oh my God, so fucking boring! Wordy, characters I could not care less about. Horrible, horrible horrible!

- Dial H Volume 2: Exchange
I gave the first volume a 2, so I didn't like it from the beginning, but with this second volume, I gave up completely (which is good, because I understand they've ended the series, lol). Boring, stupid, horribly written, chaos.

- X-Men: Colossus: Bloodline and X-Men: Kitty Pryde: Shadow & Flame
Bleh! Boring and worthless.

- Earth X/Universe X:
The artwork is beautiful, but man oh man was this series HARD WORK to sludge through. I didn't even read the last part of the trilogy (Paradise X).

- Superman Volume 1: What Price Tomorrow and Volume 2: Secrets and Lies
I gave these both 2s, but man what a disappointment this series has been.

- The Sandman: The Dream Hunters
Less of a comic than a prose book with full-page illustrations, but since The Sandman is a comic series, I'm including it. I gave it a 2 because it's just stupid. Stupid and pointless.

- Transmetropolitan Volume 1: Back On The Street
A lot of people love this series. I gave the first volume a 2 and stopped there. An interesting world but I hated the main character and the writing. So ... yeah. Maybe I'll give it another try someday, but I have a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT of stuff to get to before then.

- Batman: Year One
I think maybe I've seen/read Batman's origin story so many times before that this slow and dull version just doesn't do it for me.

- Batman: The Dark Knight Returns and The Dark Knight Strikes Again
Boring and wordy.

- Marvel's Contest Of Champions
What a disappointment. Such potential, but it was squandered.

Man, you have stabbed me in the heart. I love Dream Hunters. It is a beautiful fable, both in art and word.

I also love all of the Batman stuff you shit on. :P

And Transmetro is one of my favorites, as is probably evident from my sig/avatar that I haven't changed in forever. haha. I'm guessing you don't care much for Hunter S. Thompson? Spider Jerusalem has a lot in common with him, onl;y cranked up to 11.

I can't even think of anything I have hated right now. I must just block them all out.

Typically is the artwork quality the same? I mean size and resolution? Paper? I would guess trades are more paper like. I am so torn at the moment. Initially I signed up for dc home delivery. The price was great at about $200 for 10 different year subs but I was drastically disappointed in how they ship. I convinced myself at order it didnt matter but seeing my precious bent and creased does bug me. I contacted DC and they said I can cancel anytime. Then today I was in the local store again and they offer 10% off multi preorders. Thats not much. Oh but now since they are so nice I have to bag and board them so add that on:) Bottom line is I probably should take a long look at switching to trades before I get too invested here. So far it sounds like pros are: Durability, display, story flow, and cost. Negatives: waiting for release, less socializing and family time at the store, and any others? Thanks for the Batman list also! 9apps (https://get-9apps.com) vidmate (https://installvidmate.com) cartoon hd (https://get-cartoonhd.com)

I collected comics for years (like, 20 or more) and bagged, boarded and boxed each and every one. Then I got older. And the comics multiplied like rabbits. And I started to move from time to time. Sometimes I had limited storage space. About 9 years ago, I moved to China. Sold what I could on ebay, and gave the rest to a friend of mine's sons. But I still bought comics and stored them in a relatives home (they have a huge home), but eventually I had to wean myself off of individual issues (still living in China). Now I buy TPB and can usually find them at a discounted rate at online comic dealers (currently go through mailordercomics.com - - sometimes they have new offerings at 50% off cover). I'll have them sent to my relative's home, go home in the summers and engorge myself on what I've ordered throughout the year (I'm a teacher so, summers free). I also get some comics on my Kindle Fire but, eh, not so much into ecomics yet. Maybe I need to get an iPad one day and enjoy them in a bigger mode. So, buying monthly comics is fun and instantly gratifying but since you are just getting started, you have YEARS of back stories to get caught up on. Search for cheapo copies of TPB on ebay or discount bins or clearance shelves at Barnes and Noble (or wherever). And, if you really want the monthly stuff, maybe limit yourself to something like the 4 or 5 titles you really, REALLY like and then TPB everything else. https://9appsapk.vin/ https://vidmateapp.vin/ https://vlc.vin/

Started Ultimate X-Men recently, and is it just me, or is the dialogue horrible? Some examples:

- "Just shut up and check the merchandise before I kick you so hard you'll be gulping with three adam's apples, ahmed."

- "I know what you're thinking, incidentally. You think the only way I can release an optic blast is to press the button on my visor, don't you?" "Bad news, dumb#?$."

- "You badly-trained morons were dead the minute you looked me in the eye." "The only real question I had was whether my adamantium claws were tougher than this Russian clown's organic metal shell." "But I guess the eight pints of rhesus negative seeping out onto the grass answers that."

- "What's the matter, you ugly, little dung-tick? You deaf or something?"

And so on. Those are just the ones I saw skimming through the first volume and a half just now, there's other ones I couldn't find that are even more cringe-worthy. Real people don't talk like this! I've never called anyone a "little twerp" in my life, lol. Anyway, I don't think I've read anything else by Mark Millar except for Old Man Logan (which, incidentally (lol), I loved) but his dialogue is making it rough for me to continue reading, lol.

Summer's the time for comics — Marvel and DC blockbusters are in movie theaters, fans are preparing to descend on San Diego for its epic annual Comic-Con, and if nothing else, your friendly local comic store or library is there to provide an air-conditioned Fortress of Solitude where you can escape the steamy streets. shareit apk (https://droidmoda.com/shareit-apk-2)

My answer will be completely focused on mangas, since I'm sure many will cover graphic novels and comics thoroughly.

I'll start with my most favourite. Berserk
There are so many things to love about Berserk.

I love dark, grittiness atmosphere and Berserk gets it spot on. More importantly, Berserk breaks from the all the positivity that popular mangas such as Naruto and One Piece have.
