Some good choices here. I went with Two Sisters.

I'm sure Jean will go with Rosemary's Baby, and speaking of which, did you see the new NBC miniseries that just aired, Jean?

Well, yes, on general principle. I would hate it to be there with a zero. It is not the best horror movie in this bracket, though - A Tale of Two Sisters is. I knew RB wouldn't last long here anyway.

No, and I don't think I am very enthusiastic about it.

Just thought I should mention that even though I didn't vote for it, The Conjuring was still a great piece of horror cinema.

Finally watched The Conjuring last night. Really enjoyed it, but not the best in the bracket.

Did anyone watch the Rosemary's Baby miniseries? I saw the previews and it looked so different from the original. And as the original followed the book so well, I just couldn't bring myself to bother with it.

I posted the trailer above. Looks bland, to be honest, but I thought Jean for sure would check it out.

I watched both parts, and while it had some interesting aspects to it, it was pretty bland overall. For certain plot revelations, it was almost as if the writers were assuming that viewers had already seen the original, so they didn't need to explain anything. A fun miniseries event, but very skip-able.

Still just the one vote (mine) for the Sisters?

Still expecting a few more votes for this poll...

The Exorcist, and it should win this whole contest.

I haven't voted yet. I really want to vote for Sisters, but I'm worried it doesn't have a shot, so I might vote for Rosemary's Baby. I also really enjoyed The Conjuring, but I think the other two are more deserving.

Looks like Sisters is out, alas. If you vote RB it will allow it a ghost of a chance for a tiebreaker

And how are there no Pet Sematary votes? One of the best King adaptations and truly scary.

Jean
05-21-2014, 10:56 AM
it is in a very unfortunate bracket

I'm torn between Rosemary's Baby and Pet Sematary. I think Rosemary's Baby is the better film (and psychological horror), but Pet Sematary was much scarier, I thought.

Jean

PS has no chance, while if you vote RB there may be a tiebreaker between RB and House of Wax

Ok, I voted for Rosemary's Baby. Although it pains me to not vote for A Tale of Two Sisters :(

Wouldn't have a difference, sadly.

I know, but I hate to see it grouped with 1-vote losers. 2-vote losers is a little better!

Maybe had we all voted for A Tale of Two Sisters like we wanted to it would have made it?

Yes, it would! divemaster, I really thought that there were two votes for Sisters (don't know where I was looking), and the other one was yours (the first being pablo's) and even if I had added mine it wouldn't have made any difference - that's why I voted RB (which is the better film - the best, in fact, of everything that has been nominated, - but AToTS is the better horror). Then I would have campaigned for AToTS, not for RB! And we might have at least had a tiebreaker. Grrrrrr, that's what comes from assuming too much - I didnt have the slightest doubt that your vote was already there.

I was out of town all last week and through the weekend and didn't have the chance to log in but like twice in 10 days, quickly. Missed the poll.

Jean

ok, the only consolation is that neither of these films has any chance further on
