Thanks. I have only just received all of these but I am lacking wall space for them all. I was thinking of putting them on a rotation but most are all different sizes. The Black House is huge and a frame would be prohibitive. I would like to display the smaller ones of similar size like Blaze, Cell and Lisey's Story OR Everything's Eventual, FAB8 and The Dark Tower.
Congratulations on your signed Rock Bottom poster!!

EDIT: Most of my walls are filled with framed sports memorabilia, not much room for anything else!

I had forgotten which ones I ordered, so had to look back through my emails. I think most of yours are rare or scarce proofs. I maybe wrong in how I categorised them but of those 18 I'm expecting, 9 are common, 3 medium rarity, 3 rare and 3 scarce. This is going to be a massive boost to my proofs. It won't expand for a while after this batch.

Thanks Jeremy. I haven't seen the letter published elsewhere but I'm not very knowledge about the non-fiction side of King works.

It's published several places. It was the foreword to the original Part 1: The Two Dead Girls by Signet and was also included the the "Complete Serial Novel" published later by Plume in softcover and Scribner in hardcover. Probably in all subsequent and foreign editions too.

I have 6 more on the way but these are rare or scarce ones. Those are probably going to arrive within a couple of weeks.

Proof #10 - This is the rarest book I now own, reportedly only 2 known copies exist (probably more out there somewhere). This book is going to be the centrepiece of my proof collection. It is not the most spectacular looking book and a difficult one to photograph to look good, but it's certainly taken my proof collection up a notch with the addition of this extremely scarce proof!!

I still don't have the order confirmed, though.

John

I have ordered a few items from Michael at Fine Edition Books. They are always in really nice condition. It can be a bit slow to get confirmation as I do not think he checks his emails that often.

I just got my conformation after I had to cough up additional money for overseas postage.

I got a few goodies today from Waterstones in Cheltenham. Sadly, none for me! BUT, at least one of these books will stay in the household. The two signed Bill Bryson's were signed and dedicated last week at the Cheltenham Literary Festival in the UK. The GRRM is the normal 1st trade edition without the red edges.
I may have slightly gone overboard on the promotional Bryson Postcards - all 36 of them!

Tonight I attended 'An Evening With Joe Hill'. He read from his new book 'The Fireman' which is out in 6 months!! From the chapter he read this evening it sounds like it's going to be a very interesting book. He then did a Q&A session and then signed a few books. I brought along a Trade UK first of 20th Century Ghosts for signing and got my copy of the exclusive preview sampler of The Fireman signed. Unfortunately, they only gave out one of these to each attendee, so I was not able to get any spare copies for members.

Here are my notes on my copy. This info comes from Grover DeLuca (Best Condition Books on ABE).

"Copy of the typescript in two volumes: 918 single-sided pages, double-spaced. One of a handful made up by King's office for submission to The Book of the Month Club. (The most reliable estimate is from nine to twelve copies, though there may have been a few less, or more.) 8 1/2" x 11", spiralbound in heavy grey card wraps. Covers of both volumes bear the notation SUBMISSION/BOOK OF THE/ MONTH CLUB INC. stamped in red ink. There are minor differences in this text from that eventually published, as well as last minute xerox corrections here and there, before sending off to BMOC. Purchased from Grover DeLuca in 2000, who purchased it from Pepper and Stern in 1987. The earliest known state of THE TOMMYKNOCKERS to leave King's hands."

I'm not sure how many of each state were done. Yours is the second state. These (second state) seem to have been sent out as review copies. Mine has a letter from Pocket Books laid in addressed "Dear Editor: Enclosed please find a bound manuscript......"

Tony at Camelot Books had the slipcases made for both the first and second states. Supposedly less than 10 copies of the first state were done for in-house use but who can really trust those numbers without any documentation?

It is a cool item and I haven't seen these mentioned in years. Glad to know they are still occasionally changing hands.

Another very nice proof, Jon. Looks to be in fantastic condition. It's funny but with all the proofs I have I don't think I own any with the publicity stickers. They add just that extra little bit of 'proofness', if you know what I mean. Nice!

Some great new proofs there, Jon and I just noticed your postings about the Joe Hill event. Congratulations. I'll hopefully get to meet Joe one day also. Couldn't make it down to England this time round.

Thanks Michael. Yes, it's in fantastic condition - the best i've seen. Most of the Betts proof sales were in fine condition. This is the only proof I have with publicity stickers.

Thanks Alan. The Joe Hill evening was a great. It was a bit touch and go whether I'd get there in time, but I made it!

Great proof and also a great book. One of my favorites. Congratulations Jon.

Thanks Paul.

Thanks John. Not too many to go. BUT the problem is I keep buying more so this proof posting may be neverending!

Proof #20 - I normally try to get books in fine/near fine condition, but I recently bought two manuscript proofs in an auction that were only in good condition. I thought I've never seen these up for sale before and would I ever see them for sale again (if not, not for a long time). They are in better condition than I was expecting, especially after I used a very soft eraser to clean up most of the soiling to the covers. That's probably was a bad thing to do but it did not damage the books. I will post the first one today which is super-rare; unfortunately, this manuscript should be a three-parter but I only have the 1st volume.

Most manuscripts tend to be a large A4 format but this one is quite small. Photos taken with the 1st for size comparison.

Nice! I had bid on that but it went for more than I was willing to spend. I'm glad someone here got it!
